Wow... don't listen to the people telling you to skip it. Diablo 2 is the best ARPG ever made and should be played if you have any interest in the genre.

It was the best ARPG ever made... that was made 10 years ago. It just has too many problems. The moment you log in and join the game to have your ENTIRE SCREEN flooded with spam, you'll regret the purchase.

Honestly. The game is unplayable. The moment you enter any game, youre barraged by tons of bot spam. I'd say 2/3 of the players in the game are bots, if not more. Don't even get me started on that realm down garbage. Basically, if you make games too fast (more than 2-3 in a 5 min period) you can be banned from the game for as long as days/weeks.
