@asnakeneverdies: So, your point is, you have no idea what your talking about. That's basically what you said. You say, you don't know what Microsoft is doing, but you assume it's better. What!? Your logic is flawless.
@asnakeneverdies: It only costs time and money if the game has already been released and in this case CDPR doesn't need to make a patch, it's unnecessary. Their next game will absolutely take advantage of Pro tech though. The game is already being made for highest possible rendering spec and scaled down for specific consoles. It's not going to cost $ or take time away to take advantage during production. It is the same as a PC. The Pro is just capable of more than the standard PS4, but less than a maxed out PC. It's going to be exactly the same with the Scorpio. It will be better, but not nearly as good as a maxed out PC, so obviously the developers are already doing the work for higher res and fidelity. It is just scaling to the capabilities of the Pro or Scorpio.
@CrusaderForever: HDR is noticeable across the room (Contrast has nothing to do with resolution), but yeah, the 4k details are not noticeable on their own when your sitting in your normal spot playing a game. The system is better in pretty much every way though. Boots from off and rest mode noticeably faster. It's much quieter and the wireless connectivity is MUCH better. My pro is on the opposite side of the house, upstairs, behind a closed door, and I almost always have a 100% connection rate with the router. Granted, within the last year, I redid the network and added a repeater to strengthen the signal, but my sister and her son also recently moved in and they live on their phones or tablets, eating my bandwidth. I still have 98%-100% connection at any time. Pretty impressed with the pro for $400. Definitely worth it for some.
@Sepewrath: I'm just going to concede that we're not going to see eye to eye. Your now comparing this to the WiiU. Sorry, that comparison is in a whole different universe. Once again, you see it your way, I see mine. We'll see how it turns out in the future months.
@spazoutmike: It would be rad if they did a whole series. Mini SNES, N64, that would be awesome. SEGA should jump in too. I'd love to have a mini genesis. Have you seen the special edition of the new Sonic 2d game? Comes with a cool Sonic figure standing on a Genesis.
@7tizz: I do agree, but I think they were looking for license free "classics" that people remember the system for. Ms Pac Man (I know you said Pac Man) is one of my favorite games of all time, but it doesn't remind me of the NES like MegaMan 2 or some of these other titles. Same with Donkey Kong. Most people think arcade, and if it was an arcade game, they probably didn't want it on the list. I do find it strange that Castlevania 2 is on the system (I understand the first). 2 was kind of garbage and they could have used that spot for something much better. River City Ransom anyone? Actually, I'm pretty sure that is on the Famicom mini. Those cords are fused to the system, uhhgggg.
@Sepewrath: I didn't say anything about people waiting for shadow of mordor to get an update, it's just an example. Your stretching a bit. Every game is made with high fidelity texture samples, then scaled down, where necessary, to allow smooth play on console. The hard work is already done and was previously wasted, except for PC, where the game could manually scale to take advantage of the customers system. This is the same thing, but now on consoles. Developers have already talked about this. It's not some super expensive endeavor or burden to have scalable features and it brings attention to the product. Some people that bought the PSpro want to see (with their eyes) their investment more than play what they spent their money on and yes, some people that passed on shadow of mordor previously, purchased it just to SEE the visual quality the extra investment produces. You can't tell me you've never been enticed by a game solely due to it's graphical quality (Crysis, Uncharted, Killzone, etc.)? Bottom line, look at the vast majority of games releasing at the end of this year and going forward. They have PSpro features. That kind of explains it all.
@7tizz: Yeah, they missed an opportunity by not allowing download purchases. I also realized Gradius is actually on the mini. I should read things more often.
@Naylord: Red with envy? Anyway, I still use my Panasonic smarTViera Plasma screen in the bedroom. In some ways, it looks better than my 4k screen. Definitely in motion.
