I'm planning on building a system in the fall. I already have a new video card and PSU. I upgraded to those now to hold me over. My current PC was more of an emergency purchase when i got, old pc stopped working bought the best deal that week, bought the video card the next week. This time I'm putting a lot more effort into it. Probably Nehalem.
Actually, I've spent exactly twice as much on the PC than it costs. 2 cards + RAM + 2 360 controllers (broke the 1st) + Portable HD + PSU + Monitor + Router = $900 PC= $450
With my new card, there is not much a framerate jump from my old 7600GS.
I'm only getting about 20-25fps in most games, though about 60 on the DMC4 DX10 demo, 10 on Crysis maxed
P4 3.06GHZ OC'd to 3.6GHZ
1.5 GB DDR RAM
1280X1024
4870 max OC in CCC
catalyst 8.7
1.5GB DDR RAM
300W PSU
intel D101GGc motherboard
Vista Home premium
acer 19" 1440x900
bought in late 06 when old pc (W98) broke, it's a modified eMachines T5048, i added the gpu right away, ram after that
I would add more memory, but DDR is expensive, and i'm building a new system over the summer, and i was curious if i could use any new components in my current pc before i have everything bought for the new system
I'm getting a 4870 when it comes out, but i would need a bigger power supply, and I;m not sure if i would want to put that into my old pc because it looks like it would be complicated to replace one.
Other than that, my mb doesn't support Core 2, so that sucks.
Any suggestions?
well my main goal is to be able to play games at native res with high-max settings.
and i bought the card nov 06, so i guess i could upgrade to an 8800GT
WEI has my memory and processor at 4.2
P4 3.06GHz
1.5GB DDR RAM
7600 GS
160GB PATA HD
Intel D101GGC motherboard
Vista Home Premium
19"W Acer LCD 1440x900
I really want a new processor but i would basically have to replace a lot of things, but i can't afford to do that
