Has somebody ever asked the question, in all seriousness, WHY someone might be a devoted corporate hooker for ANY of the consoles? Buy what you can afford/like/want, and enjoy. I have a PS3, and 360 currently, and last gen I had an XBOX and PS2. Both offered unique experiences that as a gaming enthusiast I felt justified owning each.
Yes, '09 was a slow year for the 360 - BUT: I hardly think Infamous was anything special, and I doubt Uncharted 2 was a system seller. I was also extremely put off by last years Metal Gear, I didn't like the return to campy Japanese weirdness (Raiden in high heels, and sporting stick-on finger nails, Snake as an old man, and WAY too much cinema) I was WAY more into Metal Gear Subsistence, which is one Thee Best Games I Ever Played...
Killzone 2 was a great shooter, but c'mon, how many glowing red eye-masks do you wanna fight in an otherwise standard FPS? That said, I think Halo has been lame since Halo 2. However, there just isn't an experience like Gears 1/2 on the PS3, PERIOD. Much AS there's no God Of War experience on the 360 - and I LOVE that game, along with the entire series (I own GoW collection, and GoW3, and that's two discs of AWESOME!)
As far as shooters go, I'm really hoping SOCOM 4 finally puts a great 3rd person shooter on the PS3.
All said, I STILL don't feel like the PS3 has hit it's stride yet, and the 360 is getting stale at this point, so I'm hoping for more PS3 usage in 2010 - but frankly, I find the PS3 online gaming to be too clunky to devote as much time to it as XBOX Live.
I'll be buying Dead Rising 2, and Crackdown 2 (two huge releases you failed to mention, btw) and take a pass on Halo Reach in favor of SOCOM 4 - and lest anyone forget, Cliffy B is rumored to be making a big announcement about a game in the coming weeks, possibly Gears 3 in 2010?
This talk of winners and losers is ridiculous, however. With some top tier exclusives on both consoles, and a glut of third party support spanning each, it should be a great year for both.
