Temporarily Moving Out...

Hi All.  It's been what seems like forever since I wrote a blog post let alone posted to forums... I've been actually planning and packing up my house in it's entirety.  All furniture, wall hangings, rugs (EVERYTHING) has to be moved either out of the house or into the center of each room allowing at least a 2 foot clearance for each wall.  As I mentioned a while ago I'm having lead removed from my house, turns out every room has ALOT of lead.  I finally got to see the abatement report and it's insane!  All windows, doors and baseboards are being replaced or de-leaded.  This includes all closet doors, closet baseboards and my mantlepiece.  So not only do I have to move everything that's in each room in the center, I have to empty all closets.  My two storage closets and clothes closet!  OY!

Needless to say I've been super mega busay!  Tuesday the removal starts.  Over the last week I've spent just about every waking moment I'm at home, not work, moving and piling furniture into weird center room pyramids, tossing anything I haven't used for the past 4 years and meeting with contracters, abatement specialists and my folks... which I have to move back in with for the period the work is being done!

If you don't already know... once you move out of your house "dealing" with your parents is sooooooooooo much better it's not even funny!  I would have screaming yelling matches with them while I lived there... once I moved out we've never had a single argument!  No joke!  So I'm not looking forward to spending about 2-3 weeks over their house. :(

On the good news front, however, all this work, including the replacement windows (which run about $400 each) is FREE for me! :D  This is a government sponsored program available to lots of US cities that have high levels of lead and high concentrations of old houses.  My house is over 250 years old, case in point!  The work estimate is $11,500 and given how much draft comes through every window on a daily basis I'll be saving tons of $$$ come winter! :D :D  Right now my gas bill in the winter ranges from $350-600/month and that's with keeping the thermostat at 60degrees!  It's cold up here!  I'm hoping and surely expect the gas bill to lower a bit, a few hundred off a month would be SWEET!

Anywho... (damn long post!) I will be living with my parents from Tuesday, May 30th - about June 9th and don't have an Internet connection there.  I've packed up my GBA including: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Castlevania Aria of Sorrow and Harmony, Pirates of the Caribean, Disney Princesses, and I believe a Monopoly game in there as well.  I brought 3 books including the Da Vinci Code which I'm only about 1/4 of the way through, a 1000 piece puzzle and the Harry Potter PC Game set (which as I finish I'll give to my step-mom who's a huge fan).

So I have plenty to do!  I'm also going to go see Da Vinci Code once I finish the book and X-Men 3... OF COURSE!!!

Ta-Ta to you all for now!  I'll likely post from work when I get a minute or two!  Laterz...
