Adults don't need games with murders to have fun. Look at me. I am an adult and I have a lot of fun playing tennis. Why do you need to kill? Please think that over.
Goodbye now, hopefully I may come back with some stories to tell, or at least to continue our dialogue.
Anyways, I am going to have to leave this site for a while, I might come back later and see what you all have had to say. Give Super Monkeys in a Ball a try, I'm sure you will all love it (especially the pirate level!) and will leave your other machines and Manhunts behind.
I suppose I should clarify a point (it seems I have caused some aggression here) - when I say the video game playing industry was in trouble before, I mean content wise.
I've watched some programs about violence in videogames, and have been astonished at the idea of awarding "points" for killing other people. I would never let any of my children near these games. Then I heard about the Wii, a game machine with no such games. Where people can enjoy little games and share moments with each other.
Actually though, I'm a little worried about the Wii's first violent game "Naruto". My kids liked this show until I found out it was about little kids beating each other up. Now there is a fighting game about little kids on the Wii, which I find distasteful.
It's one game I have to steer clear of and hope others will do the same.
The reasons videogames can't be called art is because they are all about killing as a sport. I am going to assume that most of those games you mentioned involve killing people for points.
A Wii game such as monkeys in a ball can truly be called art. To take such a simple concept and allow an entire family to get together and enjoy it, that's art.
Anyways, I'm not trying to be harsh. I'm just saying you should all learn to accept that Nintendo is taking your video games industry to great new heights. I wish you all wouldn't look at it with such resentment and embrace it.
I'm glad to see that most of the posts here are positive. I just dislike the fact that - from what I have read - this system seems to be given a hard time because it is "ruining videogames" and promoting games that are genuinely fun.
Think about Monkeys in a Ball. What a priceless concept. No guns needed, but it is a whole lot of fun to tilt your controller to move a little pal like Gongon or Aiai.
Hello all, I'm Suze Douglas. I bought a Wii a few weeks ago and have been having a boatload of fun with my kids playing games. Wii Sports, Monkeys in a Ball, "Wario Ware", Boogie have all been a riot. I decided to see what the real world of gaming is like and stumbled across this site.
Boy, does it make me feel sick.
All you people do is complain and whine about your precious "consoles". And what is worse, you sit there and demean the Wii, which is taking this industry to new heights. It seems there are a lot of people angry about what the Wii has done to gaming. Why? The games are more fun now, I am evidence of that. I would never have played any of your old "kill X amount of people in X amount of time" games. Nintendo is bringing games that everyone can enjoy, and play together. It's not about being by yourself and killing anymore, it's a much more healthy industry.
I hope you all can look in the mirror and see what you're saying. Games were in a terrible state before, but the Wii is allowing it to be for everyone. I know there are many new players like me voting with their wallets, and I hope we never get another slaughtering game again.
I hate to break it to you all, but you're going to have to adjust to the new, better, healthiervideogame industry. Playing tennis with your family is better than killing for fun.
