I've had CDs explode in the drive before now, my first Morrowind one went that way.

To be truthful, I'm not looking forward to it. First game was rubbish and I much prefer The Elder Scrolls Series for the open-world, fantasy RPG games.savetehhaloz
I loved Morrowind, Oblivion was a disappointment, it only became interesting because of the mods made by the community.

Me, I prefer a hard copy, you lose it and it's all down to you, who's to say that somewhere down the line steam won't have some massive crash or an office fire and lose everyones games? It's always a possibility. Everyone is lawfully entitled to make a back-up copy of their purchased software, but very few do, so that if the origonal is lost or destroyed you are still able to use your purchase.

I've ordered my copy as I've been following this one for months. Yes the first release of Two Worlds was a disaster, but with the 1.7 patch I found it a very enjoyable game. South Peak seem to be doing their upmost to put off players in the UK, US, Aus and NZ so many like me are importing from Amazon.de. as you'll get the game about 3 months sooner. With all the new features in the game I have feeling that this one is going to be a landmark, much like Morrowind was in it's day.

Download Betrayal at Krondor and DOSBox, it took me about 18 months of virtually continual play to complete the game, it is surprisingly huge for a DOS based game, and if you haven't read the series of books that the game was taken from (the Magician series by Raymond E. Feist) you might rather enjoy them as well.

The worst one I've played was Farscape the Game just couldn't get into it, graphically it was useless and the game play was more along the lines of a bad Diablo clone. Others I wasn't too keen on: Apocalyptica, Wizardry 8, Riven, Loki, Dark Messiah.

You should be able to run Morrowind and with all the mods available you've got a good 5 years worth of play there, another one of my favorites is Betrayal at Krondor, it's now a free download but you'll need DOSBox to get it running as it was designed for Win95.

[QUOTE="Advid-Gamer"]

I downloaded the steam version after reading this thread, I had no problems running it, it just ran like any other stam game. The game looks amazing I cant even believe its the same game after playing the 360 version. People were complaining about performance, I am running it maxxed and it runs great. I am still shocked at the graphical difference.

Edit: after playing the pc version this is a must buy for me. It plays like a whole different game then the crappy console version. I think the combat is really fun and aslong as it has good loot, Im game. I ama very shallow gamer it seems, now that the visuals are near crysis level it is easier to put up with the bad voice acting :P

I agree, although I cannot max it out without loosing framerate (I have a 8800GTX), I can still play it on high and it looks great. I also felt the combat was improved over the last Gothic. Only issue now, I have a huge backlog which includes StarCraft 2, so I don't know if I will have enough time...

Odd, I've also got an 8800GTX and it ran perfectly maxed out, infact too perfectly I found the response time for the mouse was so rapid that the character was virtually spinning to begin with. The thing I disliked the most was the conversation cut-scenes, it takes you out of the game and so spoils the immersive element.

The only things I disliked about The Witcher was the poor optimization and the click-click-click combat system. If they fix those two things and don't change the other things, it should be great.

I rather like the click click click combat system......leaves my other hand free for my cigarettes and beer!

The thing I enjoyed most about the Witcher was the hundreds of subtle comic easter-eggs, there's a thread on the official Witcher site where people have listed the ones they have found, the thread is on it's 59th page.
