I think it's hard to say is iPhone overrated or not. In term of functionality, I agree that you can find the same thing with lower price, Android OS has many advantages and Android devices are much more cheaper than iOS devices. However, Apple's products design is always innovative, and it makes a perfect style with the functionality. So I think iPhone is overrated or not depends on what you expect, if your style is different with Apple's style, you may consider it is overrated.
