Episode 72: The Silent Chimera, the Core Made Monsters
In a police station, officers are milling around doing nothing of value. Outside, some are standing guard as someone approaches
Officer: Hello? Do you need help?
The man activates his Duel Disk. In a flash of lightning, the man is tossed through the window and slams into the wall
Chief: What the!?
The man steps in. All the officers surround him and activate their Disks
Officer 2: You…you're Grayson's thug aren't you?! I told him already, we refuse to give in to him
Officer 3: And if you're going to try and fight us or disrupt the peace, it's our job to arrest you!
The man barely moves as Grayson walks up to the building. By then, all the officers are lying on the ground. The man is shown to be Chimera
Grayson: Well done. Your duel skills scare even me sometimes
Chief: Damn it…what do you want you psychopath?
Grayson: There's no need for petty name-calling. You brought this upon yourself by denying my generous offer. But I'll let you go just this once. However, I want a small favor in return. A very small one actually.
Chief: Alright, fine. What your demands you monster?
Grayson: I want to lay a trap for someone. I don't need it done right away. But when the time comes, you will need to play your part in things As will he.
Neo sits up awake and is looking out the window. In his hands, he is holding a card and squeezes it into his hand
Opening
The next day, Neo is taking a walk. He is looking down and not looking where he is going when he bumps into somebody
Neo: Sorry.
Man: Watch where you're going punk!
He pushes past Neo and storms off. Neo sighs and keeps walking. He comes to the bridge and sits down at the edge, staring into the crystal clear water. Neo looks at his hand which is trembling.
Neo: Yusuke…Yusuke almost died. Why am I here? He's supposed to be my friend, but I can't even protect him? If I'm not strong enough to do that…why am in the ROFGP?
Dex: Hey! Neo!
Dex runs up to him
Neo: Dex…
Dex: Didn't expect to see you down here.
Neo: I…needed some fresh air
Dex: I know what you mean. I always come down here when I need to relieve stress. Mind if I sit for a bit?
Neo: Uh…be my guest.
Dex: Thanks!
Dex sits down as well
Neo: I'm sorry…for what happened a few days ago.
Dex: Huh? What do you have to be sorry about?
Neo: It's just…you know. When me and Yusuke battled Angelo and Diablo. They easily overpowered me. Yusuke won by himself. I'm sorry I couldn't have helped him out more. It's because of me that…
Dex: Neo, don't say stuff like that! It doesn't matter!
Neo: But…
Dex: Neo, listen. And I know everyone else feels the same way. Friends are there for each other no matter what. Even if you are weak, even if you are a jerk, your friends will still be your friends. When the time comes and we really need you, I know you're going to pull through. After all, that's what a heart is for!
Dex jumps up and runs off. Neo smiles, but then looks down and puts a hand to his chest
Neo: A heart….
Hiding in the shadows, Chimera is there. He also puts a hand to his chest for a second, but then shakes it off and backs into the shadows. Sometime later, Leon is talking to Jupiter through a crystal projection
Jupiter: I see. I would have wanted the situation in Cynemia City to improve after our involvement, but I suppose that was wrong.
Leon: These Machine Emperors, are you sure there's nothing about them in the pages of history?
Jupiter: No. There are records of any creature called the Machine Emperor. Whatever enemy you are fighting, it is not of Greek or Roman descent.
Leon: Right…thanks anyway gramps. I'll let you know if anything else comes up
The image vanishes as Leon leans back in his chair
Leon: Why can't we have some peace and quiet around here? Jeez….there's always something or another.
That night, Neo is heading to Yusuke's house and opens the door.
Yurashima: Ah, there you are. You've been gone a while
Neo: I really needed some fresh air
Yurashima: No harm done. Want me to heat you up some leftovers?
Neo: Well…sure, I guess
Yurashima: By the way, this came in the mail for you.
Neo: A letter? For me?
Yurashima: Yeah. But it's from AllTech, so I assume it's about the ROFGP. Don't worry, I haven't read any of it
Neo takes the letter and looks over it. Later, he is ripping it open and scans what it says. His eyes widen and he gasps. Minko jumps when he does and Neo smiles, petting it, but still looks greatly distressed. From behind a tree, Chimera walks and gets onto his D- Wheel, racing down the roar. The next day, Neo walks right by Yusuke and Yurashima
Yusuke: Hey Neo. It's…noon. Did you have a rough night?
Neo: I…stayed up the whole night to work on my deck. I was going to enter a tournament in town
Yusuke: Really? That sounds fun. I haven't been in a street tournament in months. I've got a match at the Road Stadium today.
Yurashima: Don't forget. You wanted to become the king.
Yusuke: That's what I thought I wanted. The job's kind of dull actually
Neo: I see. Don't mind me. I'll be back late
Yurashima: You want me to drive you over there?
Neo: No, I can handle it. Besides, the walk would do me good.
He opens the door and runs off
Yurashima: He does seem to be feeling better since yesterday. That's good
Yusuke: I'm worried about him though. He's been acting really weird lately. And he won't tell me what's wrong.
Yurashima: Sometimes people just need space. Give Neo time and I know he'll open up. After all, the heart is not meant to bottle up all your emotions
Neo is walking down the street. Tamika is speaking to someone in a café
Man: It will happen on the day of the ROFGP. While everyone is hyped by the duels, we're going to invade Grayson's private factory. The coordinates are right here.
Tamika: I see. Don't worry, I'll be ready.
Man: That's good.
He stands up and walks away. Tamika is about to get up when Neo walks by the café. Tamika quickly hides behind a table and sees Neo heading towards the train. She looks puzzled and runs behind him. She sees him board the train and it shoots away. Tamika stops to look at the schedule and looks really confused
Tamika: That's odd. Why is Neo going to AllTech at this time of day?
The train pulls into the station as Neo is holding the note in his hands. He looks sad as he whispers the words
Neo: If you want to know the truth, where you belong, come to AllTech at one o'clock tomorrow. Tell no one. Yusuke…I'm sorry. But if I know who I am…maybe I can protect you.
The train pulls to a stop and Neo gets off, walking towards AllTech. He takes a step when he hears the roar of an engine. He turns and only steps back just in time as a D- Wheel jets by, almost hitting him.
Neo: What?!
The rider looks at him and points to a warehouse. He speeds off as Neo takes off after him. The D- Wheel crashes through a window after a large jump and Neo kicks the door open. He takes a step inside when the heavy door slams shut behind him
Neo: What?!
???: Welcome, Neo. Or should I say, welcome back?
Neo turns and sees a man sitting in the shadows high above the ground. Neo looks ahead and sees Chimera standing in front of him
Neo: What's going on? You say you would tell me everything. Answer all of my questions
???: And I will, in due time.
Neo: You'll answer me now! Who are you?! Are the one who controls the Machine Emperors?!
???: I don't believe you're in a position to be asking me questions. If you want any other comments out of me, you'll need to defeat Chimera
Neo: Fine! I'll beat the truth out of you then!
He activates his Duel Disk. Chimera activates his and presses a button
Chimera's Duel Disk: Duel Disk speech function activated
Both: Duel!
Neo vs Chimera. [Neo LP = 4000][Chimera LP = 4000]. Tamika is running towards the building.
Neo: I'll start! I summon Vylon Soldier [ATK 1700/DEF 1000 LV 4]. I set two cards and end my turn
Chimera's Duel Disk: My turn. Draw Phase. Main Phase. Summon Koa'ki Meiru Bergzak [ATK 2000/DEF 2000 LV 4]. Now Spell card, Heavy Storm. This destroys all Spells and Traps on the field
Neo: Damn! Mirror Force…
Chimera's Duel Disk: Battle Phase! Koa'ki Meiru Bergzak attacks Vylon Soldier!
Bergzak cuts it down. Neo is almost blown back, but he stands his ground [Neo LP = 3700]
Neo: I felt that…
Chimera's Duel Disk: Koa'ki Meiru Bergzak's monster effect. He can attack a second time when he destroys a monster.
Bergzak slashes through Neo again as he screams in pain [Neo LP = 1700]
Chimera's Duel Disk: Main Phase 2. I set two cards. At the End Phase, I discard Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru and prevent Bergzak from being destroyed. Turn end
???: That's the way Chimera. Push him to his absolute limits until he has no choice but to unleash his power
Neo: Here we go. My turn! I summon Vylon Hapt [ATK 1800/DEF 800 LV 4]
Chimera's Duel Disk: Trap card, Automatic Laser. This lets me discard a card and negate the summoning of a monster. Before that, I use the Trap card Return Crane to put Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru back into my hand. Now using Automatic Laser, I show you Core and destroy your monster
It is blown up
Neo: I see! He used that Trap, and then used the last card first technique to put Core back into his hand. That card must be the center of his deck. If I can destroy that card, I can win! I set a card and end my turn
Chimera's Duel Disk: My turn. Draw Phase. Main Phase. I release Koa'ki Meiru Bergzak and Advance Summon Koa'ki Meiru Ghoulungulate [ATK 2500/DEF 1700 LV 5]. Battle Phase. I attack directly.
Neo: Trap card, Double Vy. I remove from play two Vylon monsters in the graveyard and negate all damage.
A barrier protects him
Neo: His monster should be destroyed now. He doesn't have an Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru.
Chimera's Duel Disk: End Phase. I remove from play Koa'ki Meiru Bergzak to use the power of Ghoulungulate. Now if he were to be destroyed by a card effect, it is negated. My monster remains
Neo: No way…
???: Very good Chimera. You'll win in no time
Outside, Tamika is approaching AllTech when guards step in the way
Guard: Sorry little lady, we can't let you go any further
Tamika: That's too bad. Now I've gotta move you guys.
Neo: Here we go, my turn. Here's something good. I summon the Tuner monster Vylon Scrap [ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 1]
???: Tuner monster. Are you going to Synchro Summon? You don't have any monsters out.
Neo: I don't need monsters! Vylon Scrap can tune to monsters that have been removed from play by placing them in the graveyard. I tune the level 1 Vylon Scrap, level 4 Vylon Soldier, and level 4 Vylon Hapt
Scrap becomes 1 ring that Hapt and Soldier fly through, becoming 8 stars [1 + 4 + 4 = 9]
Neo: Appear, the first of the great holy robots. Synchro Summon! Vylon Alpha [ATK 2200/DEF 1100 LV 9]. When this card is summoned, I equip him with an Equip Spell from the graveyard. I pick Vylon Material. This raises his power by 600 [ATK 2800/DEF 1100 LV 9]. Destroy Koa'ki Meiru Ghoulungulate!
It blasts away the monster. Chimera barely moves as dust blows over him [Chimera LP = 3700]
Neo: Yes! I actually dealt some damage against him! I end my turn!
Tamika looks in through the window
Tamika: That's Neo in there. What's he doing? And that guy….he's Chimera, Grayson's goon. Why is he here?
???: Nice job, Neo. You really are as strong as I intended
Neo: I don't understand what that means, but I'll force the answer out of you!
???: Is that so? Chimera, shut him up
Chimera's Duel Disk: My turn. Draw Phase. Main Phase. I set two cards on the field. End Phase.
Neo: Ha! You couldn't do anything. That means it's my turn again! No more wasting time! I attack directly with Vylon Alpha. Alpha Particle Beam.
Chimera's Duel Disk: Quick-Play Spell, Scapegoat. This summons four Sheep Tokens to the field in defense mode [ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 1][ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 1][ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 1][ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 1].
Neo: Damn it. There are targets now. I have to attack one of the Tokens.
One of them is atomized.
Neo: Turn end
Chimera's Duel Disk: My turn. Draw Phase. Main Phase. Trap card, Core Converter. I can release two monsters and revive one monster with 0 attack and defense points and negated effects. And at the End Phase, it is removed from play and I take damage equal to its original attack points. I release two Sheep Tokens and revive Koa'ki Meiru Ghoulungulate [ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 5]. That's not all. By releasing a third monster, I add Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru to my hand. I destroy the last Sheep Token to do this. Next I play Pot of Greed to draw 2 cards. I release Koa'ki Meiru Ghoulungulate to Advance Summon Koa'ki Meiru Valafar [ATK 3000/DEF 2100 LV 8].
Neo: 3000 attack points?!
Chimera's Duel Disk: This monster can be summoned by sacrificing one Koa'ki Meiru monster. I attack Vylon Alpha.
Valafar forms fire in its hand and blows away Alpha with a powerful blast. Neo is knocked back [Neo LP = 1500] and slams against the ground
Tamika: Neo!
She quickly takes out a phone and dials.
Yusuke and Seth: Direct attack!
Light- Speed Horseman and Color Warrior- Shining White finish off two opponents when they get a call
Seth: AllTech?
Yusuke: Neo…
Dex, Axel, and Alicia also get the call
Alicia: That idiot! Why did he go back to AllTech?!
Dex: Neo…please don't do anything stupid
Axel: Hmph.
Neo slowly gets up and grips his arm where he landed on it
Chimera's Duel Disk: End Phase. I discard Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru and prevent Valafar from being destroyed
Neo: My arm…my arm hurts so much. Why…am I in so much pain?
He looks and turns pale. There is burned off skin showing gray metal underneath
Neo: W…What?! What is this?!
???: So now you know the truth. Neo, tell me, do you think you have a heart?
Neo: A heart…I don't know.
???: Let me answer for you, Sigma
Neo: Sigma? Why are you calling me that?
???: That is your real name. For you see Neo, you are not human. You are an android I created.
Neo's eyes widen as the man steps into the light. Tamika gasps as well
