Episode 84: Chimera's True Face

On the road, a car is racing down the road

Grayson: How soon until we get there?

Driver: 45 minutes sir.

Grayson: Good. These pests are starting to get on my nerves. I'm going to get rid of them myself.

Driver: Sir, if I may ask, why are you soiling your own hands? Don't you have Chimera for that?

Grayson: Yes, normally I could. But his sister is there. And I can't trust him. Of course, it would help if I could, ahem, convince them to join my cause. But if he doesn't get the job done….they all die.

Opening

Chimera, now revealed to be Corey, and Tamika still sit there in the middle of the road. Waiter: And now Total Defense Shogun attacks your Lancer Dragonute!

Shogun chops it in half [Gang member LP = 0]. Waiter comes to a stop and looks over in Tamika's direction.

Waiter: Tamika, what are you waiting for?! We need to get out of here and….Corey?! Is that….Corey?!

Corey: You're all here. Why?

Tamika: We came here to put a stop to Grayson's goals. He was supposed to have some kind of deal tonight, right?

Corey: Tamika, you're a fool. That was all part of his plan. He wanted to lure the Movement here. You fell into his trap like a fish going to the bait on the hook

Waiter: Damn! This was all a set-up?!

Tamika: Brother I….I don't understand! You quit, didn't you?! How did you end up in this situation?!

Corey: Sis it's….complicated. I can't tell you.

Tamika: Why can't you! I would understand perfectly!

Corey: It isn't as simple as that Tamika. I'm only going to ask you one more time. Leave this place now.

Tamika: I'm sorry to disappoint you. But I'm here to put an end to Grayson. I'll stop anyone in my way, even you!

Corey: Tamika….you don't understand. I can't let you do that. If you really want to go by, you have to beat me

He races off. Tamika looks upset, but keeps following him as the duel gets underway again. [SPC: Skull = 6 Chimera = 6][Tamika LP = 3800][Chimera LP = 900]. Tamika has Supersonic Skull Flame [ATK 2600/DEF 2000 LV 10], Lancer Archfiend [ATK 1600/DEF 1400 LV 4] and a set card. Corey only has Koa'ki Meiru Maximus [ATK 3000/DEF 2500 LV 8].

Corey: It's still my turn. I use the effect of Koa'ki Meiru Maximus. Once per turn, I can destroy a monster out. Go, Maximum Fire!

It spits fire and burns down Supersonic Skull Flame.

Corey: And now I attack with Koa'ki Meiru Maximus. Core Furnace Fire

It shoots some fire out of its mouth and hits Archfiend. The fire spreads past the monster and hits Tamika as well. She hisses and slows down [Tamika LP = 2400]

Corey: I now use the effect of Core Hunt in the graveyard. By removing from play one Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru in the graveyard, Koa'ki Meiru Maximus isn't destroyed by its effect. Please….don't make me keep this up. I don't want to hurt you anymore sis.

Tamika: This isn't what hurts me the most right now brother. What hurts me the most right now…is that you could work for Grayson

Corey: Please, don't tell me that. You don't need to act so rude to me. What I'm doing….it's not for my own personal gain.

Tamika: That's hard for me to believe. You….you just left!

Corey: …Like I said, it isn't as simple as that..

He turns away and watches the road as he remembers the events. In the past, Corey is working on his bike. He wipes his forehead and frowns when several thugs walk up

Corey: What?

Thug: Boss man wants a few words with you.

Corey: Bite me.

Thug: What was that you little…!?

Thug 2: Grayson isn't happy with you Corey. First you burned down the merchandise we were about to sell. Then, you help undesirables get away from their punishment. Grayson's been very patient with you. But he's starting to get really annoyed with you.

Corey: So? If he's so annoyed, tell him to get a hobby.

Thug 2: You're on thin ice man. You don't come back; he's going to kill you.

Corey: That's fine. Whatever happens to me, it doesn't matter. My family though? I'll protect them no matter what. So beast it.

The thugs look angry, but storm off. Corey sighs as he sits there. Later, he is walking in the rain when a car drives up. The window rolls down.

Grayson: May I offer you a lift?

Corey: I've got an umbrella.

Grayson: Yes, I can see that. But you look tired.

Corey: I'm not. It's only a short walk.

Grayson: Why don't you come in anyway? I need a few words with you.

Corey sighs and gets in

Corey: Fine. Only so I can say it to your face.

Grayson: Yes. Well, I've heard from my associates you want to quit the group?

Corey: Yeah, that's right. What's so hard to understand?

Grayson: Well…it's just a little cruel, don't you think? I gave you enough money to give you anything you want, in exchange for a few jobs. What's the problem?

Corey: I'm not a gangster, sorry. I'm not doing these kinds of jobs anymore.

Grayson: That's perfectly understandable. But of course, you're not the only one at risk here. After all, you do have a family to think about.

He stops in front of Tamika's school.

Grayson: After all, it would be so tragic if something were to happen to that sweet little girl, wouldn't it?

Corey: You….

Grayson pushes him out of the car.

Grayson: That was your last warning

The car races off as Corey stares into a water puddle. Later, Corey is sitting in his room. He holds his face in his hands and looks at a photo of him and Tamika. He crumples it and takes his cellphone out. He dials for a minute and then calls

Corey: …I'll do it. But on one condition.

Late at night, Corey is packing a bag. He sighs. He walks into the living room. Tamika is on the couch when Corey walks up, looking afraid.

Corey: Tamika, I want you to do something for me.

He hands her some keys.

Tamika: What are these?

Corey: The keys to a D-Wheel I made. I want you to test it out you are old enough. Do that for me, because I won't be here to do that.

Tamika: What do you mean?

Corey quickly runs off. Tamika looks scared and tries to run. Corey gets on his bike and rakes off.

Corey: I'm sorry mom….dad….sis…but one day you'll understand.

Thugs begin to follow him down the road. They grin as one gets close

Thug: Don't try any funny stuff. Follow the plan

Corey is silent and races towards the end of the highway. He rams into the railing and goes over the edge. Right before he hits the ground, he presses a button, causing a bright flash simulating an explosion and jumps off the bike, hitting the ground. The bike hits the ground, exploding. Corey watches it burn and walks into the shadows, where there is a bag. A few seconds later, Corey walks away in his Chimera costume. The flashback ends as Tamika tears up

Corey: As Corey, I would not serve him. So the real Corey had to twist himself into a monster. Into a Chimera.

Tamika: But…why?! Why did you do that?! What were you thinking?! Thinking I would be happier without a brother….

Corey: It's the deal I made with Grayson. If I went to work with him, everyone wouldn't trust me. So by faking my own death, you guys would get my life insurance policy. Then he wouldn't hurt you

Tamika: So….you're the one who's been sending all the checks!

Corey: You have to trust me; I've never once worked for Grayson for my own satisfaction. Some days it hurt so bad I couldn't even stand to hear the sound of my own voice. So that's why….please just quit.

Tamika: I…won't. Grayson has still ruined too many lives. I'm going to take him out! Even if you stand in my way!

Corey: ….I'm sorry to hear that.

Tamika: Here I go! My turn [SPC: Tamika = 7 Chimera = 7]. Trap card, Call of the Haunted. Now I revive Skull Flame [ATK 2600/DEF 2000 LV 8].

Corey: I discard Koa'ki Meiru Ice. This lets me destroy a monster that was Special Summoned.

Tamika: Damn! I summon Skull Knight in defense mode [ATK 1800/DEF 800 LV 4]. Turn end.

Corey: My turn. [SPC: Tamika = 8 Chimera = 8]. I use the effect of Maximus

Tamika: Don't bother. Skull Knight negates an effect once per turn

Corey: Then I attack with Maximus

It burns the monster down

Corey: Turn end. Using Core Hunt, I remove an Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru in the deck. But, I can't Normal Summon the turn I use this effect. Turn end.

Tamika: You didn't use up your Speed Counters. Hmph. You always used to save them up.

Corey: Well, I don't like to use things up quickly. It's better to save them up for the last minute.

Tamika: Just like when we were kids…

Corey: ….Yeah.

Tamika: I…draw [SPC: Tamika = 9 Chimera = 9]. I summon Magma Blob in defense mode [ATK 0/DEF 400 LV 1]. I end my turn.

Corey: Back to me [SPC: Tamika = 10 Chimera = 10]. I use Speed Spell- Angel Baton. This lets me draw 2 cards from my deck and discard one. Now I summon Koa'ki Meiru Urnight [ATK 2000/DEF 1500 LV 4]. Now I reveal Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru in my hand. This lets me Special Summon a Koa'ki Meiru monster from the deck. Come on, Koa'ki Meiru Prototype [ATK 1800/DEF 1800 LV 4] I use the effect of Koa'ki Meiru Maximus and destroy Magma Blob

Tamika: I use the effect of Magma Blob! When destroyed, I can negate Battle Damage once during the turn.

Corey: Koa'ki Meiru Maximus, direct attack

Tamika: Using the effect of Magma Blob, I'll block that damage.

Corey: Then Urnight can attack directly. Charged Spear.

It rushes forward and slashes Tamika. She screams in pain [Tamika LP = 400]. She slows down as Corey's eyes widen.

Corey: It…cracked.

Grayson: Good. I'll be there in 10 minutes.

The call stops as Corey stiffens

Tamika: Grayson….he's coming here in 10 minutes?

Corey: That's why you need to leave. If he sees you, he'll kill you. Please…leave.

Tamika: No! I'm going to make Grayson pay! If he wants to make my job easier, that's fine!

When I have 12 Speed Counters, I can draw two cards. Now then I pay 12 Speed Counters [SPC: Chimera = 0 Tamika = 12]. This lets me destroy all cards you control. Go, Speed Storm!

A great wind blows away the monster

Corey: I set a card and end my turn

Tamika: Yes! Here's my chance! I draw [SPC: Tamika = 12 Chimera = 1]. Speed Spell- Dead Synchro. Now I can use monsters in the graveyard for my Synchro Summon. I tune the level 3 Fire- Tears Maiden, level 1 Magma Blob, and level 4 Skull Knight.

Maiden becomes 3 rings that Blob and Knight fly through, becoming 5 stars [3 + 1 + 4 = 8]

Tamika: May these monsters creates the sparks that ignite the burning flames of my soul. Become a savage fire and burn! Synchro Summon! Skull Flame Dragon! [ATK 3000/DEF 1500 LV 8]

Corey: You still use that thing. Wow.

Tamika: This is it! Skull Flame Dragon, attack him directly! Skull Fireball!

Corey: Tamika, your problem has always been….you don't like overkill. Trap card, Widespread Ruin. When a monster attacks, I can destroy it.

Dragon blows up right before the attack as Tamika looks shocked.

Tamika: My Skull Flame Dragon….

Corey: I'm sorry about this. My turn [SPC: Tamika = 12 Chimera = 2]. I summon Koa'ki Meiru Drago [ATK 1900/DEF 1600 LV 4]. Finish her

It hit Tamika dead on [Tamika LP = 0]. She comes to a stop as Corey stops after a while too.

Waiter: Wow….to win so easily, even with all those bad situations. He hasn't gotten rusty, that's for sure.

Thugs grab every member of the Movement.

Thug: He's coming!

Thug 2: Hold em down! The boss is so going to be happy!

Tamika: Grayson! Let me at him! He'll pay!

Waiter: So after all this Corey? After all this you really have changed? You're going to sell out your friends and sister?

Corey: ….Let them go

Thug 3: What?! But….

Corey: Let. Them. Go. I'll take responsibility for this.

Tamika: Corey, you….

The thugs let them go.

Corey: There's a back route that leads around town. Leave now. I can't distract him forever.

Tamika: But why?!

Corey: I won't lose my soul. But I can't escape either. Grayson won't even let death. Now go.

Waiter drags Tamika along to the D- Wheels and they take off. They take a back road around.

Waiter: I don't believe it. Corey…out symbol of hope…is working for the enemy.

Tamika is holding her Koa'ki Meiru Maximus card

Tamika: Corey….you just hold on a bit longer. I promise I'll get you out of this. If Grayson is a chain….I'm the saw to cut the chain.

The sun slowly begins to rise. Corey sits on the pier watching the sun with a sad look in his eyes

Ending

Narrator: The next round of duels is now underway. The tournament starts off with Yusuke being pitted against Chimera. But Chimera seems distracted by something and is not dueling. What exactly is Yusuke going to do? Next time, Episode 85: Round 2. Yusuke vs Chimera.
