Card of the Day: Level Eater
Episode 89: Accel Synchro vs Accel Synchro!
In a void of light, the three Fates are watching this unfold.
First Fate: Destiny is drawing near. And only one hero has been discovered.
Third Fate: At this rate, the true evil will win this war. The other two heroes must awaken right away.
Second Fate: All we can do is wait to bless the chosen ones with Accel Synchro. Accel Synchro is the only force that can defeat the coming evil.
Third Fate: Hmph. And what makes you so sure the chosen ones will even be able to control the great power?
Second Fate: The messenger will do that. He will show us who has the power to make it happen.
In the stadium, Leon still sits on his bike looking up at the stands.
Opening
Leon leaves the stage as girls swarm him. He is clearly annoyed, but puts on a smile and begins to sign autographs.
Announcer: And with another sizzling win, our tournament goes on! And with only one match left in this round, we might as well get things started! Greg will battle against Edgar!
Greg: #26 eh? He might be good for a laugh.
Edgar: So, I'm fighting that barbarian. So be it!
Axel: That guy's dueling huh? Gr….
Yusuke: ….Hey guys, save my seat for a second.
Alicia: Huh?! You're seriously leaving again?!
Yusuke: Bathroom break. It won't be long, I swear.
Tamika: As long as you're up, get me a popcorn.
Yusuke: Will do.
He heads off as the duel starts. Leon is leaning against the wall when Yusuke goes to meet him.
Leon: Sorry. I'm not signing anymore autographs.
Yusuke: You know what I'm here for.
Leon: Um, considering you just sorta walked up to me for no reason, then no. I have no idea what this was about.
Yusuke: When you were dueling against Vogue. You had three monsters, one of them a Synchro-Tuner. At the last minute, it seemed like you changed your strategy around.
Leon: I have no idea what you mean. My plan all along was to get out Tri Master. Good thing that guy didn't have counters for it, right?
Yusuke: Do you think I'm that stupid? What was your real reason for doing that?
Leon: You're making me feel like a criminal. I dueled with my prethought-up strategy. There was nothing special about it.
Yusuke: Accel Synchro, isn't it? What you were doing to do….it has something to do with Accel Synchro, doesn't it?
Leon: If you want the answer to that….you'll have to duel me.
Yusuke: What?! Why?!
Leon: Yusuke, something's going on here. Something that you can't even begin to comprehend. I need to see if you're ready.
Yusuke: How can you say that?! I fought against my mother! I sealed away Pandora's Box!
Leon: Yusuke, listen! That threat we faced, and even the one we're fighting now? Compared to what's coming, they're NOTHING. You can't even begin to comprehend what's coming.
A scream comes from the stadium as Yusuke watches with wide eyes. In the arena, Grannel blasts through an Ignition Beast Volcannon. His opponent comes to a stop as Greg holds up his hand.
Greg: Losers! You're all losers! Try to at least make this entertaining! There's no fun stomping on little tiny bugs!
Leon: Forget it. Just remember what I said.
He walks off.
Announcer: And with that, round 2 comes to a close! According to our sponsors, round 3 is going to start right away?
Tony: What? But that's not fair!
Seth: Hm. Now he's not even giving us the chance to rest.
Sigma: Hey, fine by me! I want to duel as much as possible..
Grayson: You want to see the fruits of your research that badly? I believe there's a word for that. What is it? Oh yes. Pride.
Armen: Ha. You're one to talk. I'm sit down and shut up now. Next duel will be quite a treat.
Announcer: Now, spin the wheel! Let's see who's dueling who! And our first duelist….is Yusuke Iruiza!
Yusuke: Of course: Why am I not surprised?
Announcer: And his opponent….Leon!
Dex: Huh?! Leon!?
Leon: Some god must be angry at me. Heh. But I guess it'll be interesting.
Grayson: Oh ho. You truly are a little prick Armen.
Sigma: Might be entertaining.
Neo: Yusuke….
Yusuke heads down to the arena.
Yusuke: Well, looks like I'm getting my wish. Time to see what he was trying to hide. I'll force it out of him no matter what. And I'll show him…just how strong I've become.
Leon is holding a card.
Leon: If it comes to this….I'll use it. It's the only way….to ensure our victory. Heh. It's not like me to be so serious. I'm going to win….no matter what.
He races out of the garage. After a short time, Yusuke races out as well.
Leon: Well, this is quite surprising. It's like back during my practice duel. Me, teaching you Accel Synchro.
Yusuke: Yeah. Only this time, I'm going to win.
Leon: Ha ha ha! Sure thing kiddo! Let's see about that!
Announcer: And now, let's get things kicking! Neo Speed World, set on!
D- Wheels: Duel mode, auto-pilot standby. Deciding duel road. Low road. Countdown, initiated. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0.
Both: Riding Duel, Acceleration! [Leon LP = 4000][Yusuke LP = 4000].
Leon: Tell you what Yusuke. In honor of our last duel when I went first, you can go first.
Yusuke: I don't need your charity. But thanks I guess. I draw! I summon Electric Fence in defense mode [ATK 1000/DEF 1800 LV 4]. Next I set two cards and end my turn.
Leon: Looks like it's my turn. Draw [SPC: Leon = 1 Yusuke = 1]. I summon Max Warrior [ATK 1800/DEF 800 LV 4]. When this card attacks another monster, he gains 400 attack points. Now then, let's go right ahead and attack Electric Fence! Swift Thrash!
Yusuke: Trap card, Castle Walls. This raises the defense points of one monster on the field by 500. I choose Electric Fence [ATK 1000/DEF 2300 LV 4]
Max Warrior plows into it [ATK 2200/DEF 800 LV 4]. However, it is pushed away and hits the ground hard. Leon hisses a little [Leon LP = 3900]
Leon: Not bad. But you'll need to 39 more amounts of that damage. As I could not destroy a monster, Sword Master can be Special Summoned [ATK 1200/DEF 0 LV 3]. That's not all! As I Normal summoned a monster this turn, I can Special Summon this card from my hand. Come on out, Turbo Booster [ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 1]
Axel: Three monsters already.
Leon: I tune my level 4 Max Warrior, level 3 Sword Master, and level 1 Turbo Booster.
Master becomes 3 rings that Warrior and Booster fly through, becoming 5 stars [3 + 1 + 4 = 8]
Leon: Synchro Summon! Show yourself, Berserker Crusher [ATK 2900/DEF 800 LV 8]. Then I place one card face down and end my turn. At this time, the effect of Castle Walls no longer applies [ATK 1000/DEF 1800 LV 4]
Yusuke: I didn't expect him to Synchro Summon so quickly. If he gets out Artillery Warrior, I'm finished. So I need to one-up him before he can do that. Alright, let's take a chance! Announcer: And so soon as well! Ladies and gentlemen, we're in for a real treat!
Leon: Wow, bringing it out so soon? You're really not playing around, are you Yusuke?
Yusuke: In this kind of situation, I can't afford to give it less than my best.
Leon: It's good you know that. But my monster is still stronger than yours.
Yusuke: Not for much longer. Trap card, Synchro Strike. A Synchro monster on the field gains attack points equal to the number of monsters used in his Synchro Summon. I used two, so he gains 1000 attack points [ATK 3500/DEF 2000 LV 8]. Now he's strong enough to finish your monster! I attack your Berserker Crusher! Go, Warp Dimension Fire!
Leon: Sorry bout that! It won't happen on my watch. Trap card, Synchro Barrier. By releasing a Synchro monster, I negate all damage for two turns.
Crusher vanishes as a barrier appears and blocks the attack.
Yusuke: Just like his last duel….he's stalling me.
Leon: Seriously, did you think that would work? Come on, I'm not so stupid I'll fall for a turkey leg dangling from a string! After all, I didn't become the #9 duelist in the whole world by a fluke! You want to win; you've got to do a lot better than that! This time, I'm going all out! I'm not in this to teach you anything. You want to win; you have to beat me at my best!
Yusuke: At your best huh? I wouldn't want it any other way! After all, I came all this way to win! I'm not going to treat or be treated with kiddy gloves! I end my turn.
Leon: Well, guess it's my turn now. Here we go. I draw [SPC: Leon = 3 Yusuke = 3]. I set a card on the field. Then I summon Level Eater in defense mode [ATK 600/DEF 0 LV 1]. I end my turn.
Yusuke: Now you're just rubbing it in. Just because you can't take damage doesn't mean you should play cards like that.
Leon: Don't diss my strategy. That's totally not cool man. After all, it sure as hell is holding you back.
Tamika: What's with this guy? He isn't taking this seriously at all.
Salia: He's not acting like he's number 9….
Koga: He's acting pretty goofy.
Seth: No….he's trying to get Yusuke to lower his guard. Whatever Leon's planning….it's big.
Yusuke: It's my turn now [SPC: Leon = 4 Yusuke = 4]. I draw a card. I may not be able to deal damage, but I can still attack. I summon Heavy Crusher [ATK 1900/DEF 0 LV 4]. Attack Level Eater!
Crusher smashes the monster.
Yusuke: And now he goes into defense mode [ATK 1900/DEF 0 LV 4]. I end my turn.
Leon: My turn [SPC: Leon = 5 Yusuke = 5]. Time for me to get serious. Trap card, Descending Lost Star. This lets me revive one Synchro monster with a decreased level. I revive Berserker Crusher [ATK 2900/DEF 0 LV 7] . And now by decreasing his level by 1 [ATK 2900/DEF 0 LV 6], I revive Level Eater [ATK 600/DEF 0 LV 1]. Next I summon the Tuner monster Dark Tinker [ATK 1000/DEF 1300 LV 2]. I tune the level 1 Level Eater and level 2 Dark Tinker
Tinker becomes 2 rings that Eater flies through, becoming 1 star [2 + 1 = 3]
Leon: Synchro Summon! Come forth, Synchro-Tuner, Tri Master [ATK 1200/DEF 300 LV 3]
Yusuke: Synchro-Tuner….
Leon grins as he speeds up.
Leon: Get ready for this! I tune my level 3 Synchro-Tuner, Tri Master, and my level 6
Synchro monster, Berserker Crusher.
He goes so fast he practically moves at sound speed. Master becomes 3 rings that Leon jumps through and disappears. [3 + 6 = 9]. Leon reappears a few seconds later.
Leon: Accel Synchro, Artillery Warrior [ATK 3000/DEF 2000 LV 9].
Leon: What a turn of events! His Accel Synchro monster appears out of nowhere! How will Yusuke fare now?!
Yusuke: I've been waiting to fight that thing again! Bring it on!
Leon: I will. Like I said, I ain't holding back! By paying 1000 attack points [ATK 2000/DEF 2000 LV 9], I can negate the effects of a monster and change it to attack mode. I choose your Heavy Crusher [ATK 1900/DEF 0 LV 4]. Now I'll strike it down! Armory Blade!
It creates a large blade and charges the monster, chopping it in two. Yusuke recoils [Yusuke LP = 3900]
Leon: I set a card. Turn end. Which means my monster is back to normal [ATK 3000/DEF 2000 LV 9]
Tamika: That's really strange.
Axel: You noticed it too?
Dex: Noticed what?
Tamika: Leon's playing with him. Think about it. Normally, Artillery Warrior deals damage equal to the attack points of the monster it destroys. However, Leon used its other effect and paid 1000 attack points. Had he stuck with it normally and just attacked Warp Speed, he could have dealt way more damage.
Alicia: Hey, that's true. But why would he do what he did?
Seth: He wants Yusuke to summon it, doesn't he?
Yusuke: Hmph. Like I need your permission! I draw [SPC: Yusuke = 6 Leon = 6]. I summon the Tuner monster Black Oil [ATK 1000/DEF 0 LV 2]. Now I use Speed Spell- Summon Speeder. This lets me Special Summon another monster from my hand. I summon Armored Turbine [ATK 0/DEF 600 LV 2]. Now, I tune my level 2 Armored Turbine and level 2 Black Oil.
Oil becomes 2 rings that Turbine flies through, becoming 2 stars [2 + 2 = 4]
Yusuke: A rip opens in both space and time, and through it, a new hero ascends to the sky! Synchro Summon! Appear, Synchro-Tuner, Speed Hero [ATK 1900/DEF 1500 LV 4].
Announcer: Ah, another Synchro-Tuner!
Greg: Whoa, are you serious!?
Aslo: Two Accel Synchro Summons?!
Yusuke: Get ready for this Leon!
He begins to speed up tremendously as well.
Yusuke: I tune my level 4 Synchro-Tuner, Speed Hero, and my level 8 Synchro monster, Warp Speed Dragon.
They both vanish as Hero becomes 4 rings that Yusuke and Dragon jump through, vanishing. A few seconds later, they reappear. [4 + 8 = 12]
Yusuke: Speed rips apart the foundation that creates space-time and becomes a power beyond power. Accel Synchro! Show yourself, Hyper Speed Dragon [ATK 3500/DEF 3000 LV 12].
Announcer: Amazing! Now it's Accel Synchro monster vs Accel Synchro monster! Which will be the victor?!
Yusuke: Get ready for this! I attack Artillery Warrior! Hyper Power Stream!
It fires a beam of energy and incinerates Warrior. Leon flinches [Leon LP = 3400]
Yusuke: And his effect! For every Synchro and Tuner monster in my graveyard, you take 500 points of damage. I have 4, so in other words, you take 2000 points of damage! Go, Hyper Sonic Nova!
It spits out a ball of fire. It touches down and explodes, knocking Leon into the air [Leon LP = 1400]. He hits the ground as Yusuke gets a lead.
Alicia: Yes!
Seth: No….it can't be that easy….
Yusuke: I don't believe it….I destroyed his Accel Synchro monster! That means I win!
Leon: ….Heh. Not bad. Guess….I need to get really, REALLY serious now. I draw [SPC: Leon = 7 Yusuke = 7]. Trap card, Synchro Spirits. This lets me remove from play a Synchro monster [Artillery Warrior] and summon the material monsters. Come on, Berserker Crusher [ATK 2900/DEF 800 LV 8] and Tri Master [ATK 1200/DEF 300 LV 3].
Yusuke: Those again?
Leon: Don't say "those again," like that. It's rude. Now, by decreasing the level of Berserker, I summon back Level Water [ATK 600/DEF 0 LV 1] [ATK 2900/DEF 800 LV 7]. Now I summon Attack Gainer [ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 1]. Level 1 Attack Gainer tunes to level 1 Level Eater.
Gainer becomes 1 ring that Eater flies through, becoming 1 star [1 + 1 = 2]
Leon: Synchro Summon! Formula Synchron [ATK 200/DEF 1500 LV 2]. When this guy is summoned, I draw a card. And if I have three monsters, Tri Master is no longer counted as a Synchro-Tuner.
Yusuke: What's going on? Three monsters, one a Synchro-Tuner?
Leon grins and begins to speed up. Soon, he's moving five times as fast.
Yusuke: What?!
Leon: Here we go. Yusuke, let me show you. The technique…after Accel Synchro!
Yusuke: After?!
Leon: Only someone who has trained for 10 years after learning Accel Synchro can do this. The ultimate Synchro technique. Delta Accel Synchro!
Yusuke: DELTA Accel Synchro?!
Leon: I tune my level 2 Formula Synchron, level 7 Berserker Crusher, and level 3 Tri Master.
Synchron becomes 2 rings that Leon and hi two monsters dash through, vanishing. The earth rumbles as powerful wind almost blows Yusuke away. A few seconds later, Leon appears. He grins as the ground rumbles and lightning fires into the sky. Slowly, something massive begins to descend. Yusuke looks up and his eyes widen in shock.
Yusuke: What….the hell?!
Leon: Delta Accel Synchro! Show yourself, Airship Goliath [ATK 4500/DEF 3500 LV 12].
The massive monster keeps descending as it hangs in the sky. Everyone watches in shock as the Fates see this.
Second Fate: And so the messenger continues. Will the hero become stronger? Will this awaken the other two? Let us determine that.
