Episode 90: Synchro Summon Beyond Accel Synchro
Leon: Delta Accel Synchro!
He vanishes along with his monsters. A few seconds later, Leon appears. He grins as the ground rumbles and lightning fires into the sky. Slowly, something massive begins to descend. Yusuke looks up and his eyes widen in shock.
Yusuke: What….the hell?!
Leon: Delta Accel Synchro! Show yourself, Airship Goliath [ATK 4500/DEF 3500 LV 12].
Hyper Speed Dragon looks up in shock as even it is an ant compared to the massive monster. It roars as everyone in the stadium covers their ears.
Announcer: What amazing power!
Leon: Now for the effect of Attack Gainer! When it is used as Synchro material, normally, a monster would lose 1000 attack points. However, Hyper Speed Dragon is immune to the effects of monsters with lower levels. Of course, that suits me just fine. Get ready for this, Yusuke! Airship Goliath attacks Hyper Speed Dragon! Great Air Assault!
Goliath fires a barrage of missiles. Dragon flies off and tries to avoid them, but all the missiles hit it, setting it on fire. It crashes into the road and blows up as Yusuke watches horrified [Yusuke LP = 2900]
Leon: And now his effect! When Airship Goliath destroys a monster, he multiples that monster's level by 200 and deals that to you as damage. Go, Great Hammer!
Yusuke: Hyper Speed Dragon's effect! By removing him from play, all damage I take is halved!
Goliath swings with its hand, blowing a massive wind. Everyone covers up as Yusuke is hurled back across the road and hits it, spinning out before getting back on track [Yusuke LP = 1700]
Leon: Heh. Nice job. But against Airship Goliath….it won't last. I end my turn.
Opening
Both duelists continue around the track [Leon LP = 1400][Yusuke LP = 1700][SPC: Yusuke = 7 Leon = 7]. Yusuke has nothing on his field while Leon only has Airship Goliath [ATK 4500/DEF 3500 LV 12].
Dex: Delta Accel Synchro…..wow….
Alicia: Don't say that! Yusuke's going to beat that thing!
Dex: I-I didn't say! I was just saying….that's some monster he has out.
Tamika: Even I can't deny that. How did he even get a hold of something like that?
Axel: I think I know….
He holds the Fate Crystal in his hands. At the castle on Mount Olympus, the Council of Elders, Prometheus filling Mars's spot, is watching this.
Mercury: So he actually sprung his Delta Accel Synchro monster.
Venus: He only just perfected that recently. He's just showing off if you ask me
Vulcan: Be that as it may, this is good.
Jupiter: Indeed. For Yusuke to learn and grow, he must defeat this monster. If not, he is not one of the chosen heroes.
Apollo: Man, I don't envy him though. Going up against something like that? It's a scary though.
Diana: Hm. It doesn't look that strong.
Juno: True, but without his Accel Synchro, I doubt he even stands a semblance of a chance. He might as well give up.
Prometheus: Yusuke….you're stronger than this. I know you can win.
Yusuke: Here we go, I draw [SPC: Yusuke = 8 Leon = 8]. I wasn't expecting something like that. Damn. That thing deals damage no matter what I summon. If that thing hits me directly, I'll lose instantly. Not to mention I can't even play strong monsters due to the effect of that monster. How did he even get a hold of something like that? I thought Accel Synchro was the max!
He slams his monitor.
Yusuke: Am I….not as strong as I think I am?
Leon: Yusuke, come on! I know things look bad, but don't back down! You need to keep fighting. No matter what happens, keep fighting!
Yusuke: I set a monster and end my turn.
Leon: Pfft. That's all man? You disappoint me. Here we go, draw [SPC: Leon = 9 Yusuke = 9]. I need to go all out. He'll probably lose. It looks like….he wasn't the hero after all. I summon Mad Archfiend [ATK 1800/DEF 0 LV 4]. Let's battle! Airship Goliath attacks your set monster! Great Air Assault!
It fires a few missiles that blow up the set monster.
Leon: And now for his effect! You take 200 points of damage for each of its levels [2].
Yusuke is blown by a strong wind as Airship flies over him. He is flung into a guardrail and spits blood as he gets back on track [Yusuke LP = 1300].
Yusuke: When….Building Block is destroyed, I get to Special summon two more from my deck [ATK 600/DEF 800 LV 2 each].
Leon: Well, no direct attack then. But don't forget, I can deal Piercing damage using Mad Archfiend! Go on take out that Building Block! Use Bone Splash!
It spits out bone splinters that tear apart Block. Yusuke is peppered with them and he screams in pain [Yusuke LP = 100]
Tony: Only 100 life points left?!
Neo: Yusuke!
Marie is lying on a bed and she groans.
Marie: Yusuke….
Leon: Sorry for being rough. But I can't go easy on you. I need to give it my all. Otherwise, I'll get in trouble. Look….we have to do this. If you want to give up, just say the word.
Yusuke: Who….said…
Leon slows down.
Leon: Speak up. Can't hear you in the balcony.
Yusuke: I said….who said….I'm giving up?!
Leon: Hoo boy, there's that fire in your eyes. I remember that the first time we dueled. In this case….it might spice things up a little. I set a card and end my turn.
Yusuke: Here we go! [SPC: Yusuke = 10 Leon = 10]. Your monster is strong, sure, but that won't stop me. After all, if I gave up every single time I saw a big monster, I'd never duel.
Leon: Hey, that's the spirit kiddo! Come on, keep it up!
Yusuke: I summon Sharp Edger [ATK 1600/DEF 100 LV 4]. This guy deals Piercing damage. Now attack Mad Archfiend!
Dex: Yes! When Mad Archfiend is attacked, it goes into defense mode [ATK 1800/DEF 0 LV 4].
Alicia: If this hits, Leon takes 1600 points of damage and loses!
Sigma: Aw, no fair! I wanted to see the big guy in action!
Greg: Oo boy. I can't wait for Grannel to absorb that big boy. It gives me shivers down my spine just thinking about it!
Leon: Sorry. Trap cad, Half or Nothing. Now you have a choice. Either halve the attack points of all your monsters or just skip your Battle Phase entirely.
Yusuke: No! That means I can't win! Gr….whatever, damage is damage! I'll pick half [ATK 800/DEF 0 LV 4].
Edger dashes through Archfiend, chopping it in two as it does so. Leon grins and mocks dusting himself off [Leon LP = 600]
Announcer: What a stroke of bad luck! Right when victory was in his grasp, it was pulled away like a fish on a string! Just how is Yusuke supposed to win now?!
Yusuke: No…there's nothing I can do. I….end my turn. [ATK 1600/DEF 0 LV 4]
Leon: My turn [SPC: Leon = 11 Yusuke = 11]
Dex: If he attacks, Yusuke will lose!
Alicia: If he can hold on until next turn, he can pay 12 Speed Counters and use the effect of Neo Speed World.
Axel: He'll need to survive next turn first. And the way things are looking, it doesn't seem likely.
Seth: Come on my rival….don't lose here.
Leon: I summon Giving Nurse [ATK 500/DEF 100 LV 2]. When this card is summoned, we each draw a card. Now, no more wasting time. Airship Goliath attacks your Sharp Edger! Go, Great Air Assault!
It fires several missiles into the air at the monster. Suddenly, a gate appears and closes, blocking the attack.
Yusuke: I send Battle Gate from my hand to my graveyard to end the Battle Phase.
Leon: Ah, I get it. Shouldn't have let you drawn. Oh well, live and learn, right? I end my turn.
Yusuke: Now I'm suspicious. Here we go [SPC: Yusuke = 12 Leon = 12]. Yes, I pay 12 Speed Counters! [SPC: Yusuke = 0 Leon = 12] Now say goodbye to all your monsters!
Alicia: That means his Delta Accel Synchro monster will be destroyed.
Leon: Heh.
A strong wind blows away Nurse and it is destroyed. As the wind aims at Goliath, it simply backhands the wind away and still stands. Yusuke's eyes widen.
Leon: Give me some credit kid. I wasn't going to summon it knowing it would get destroyed. Airship Goliath can't be destroyed by Spell or Trap cards.
Yusuke: No way…
Leon: I let you draw hoping you might get something good. Guess not.
Yusuke: I….set a card. Sharp Edger goes to defense mode [ATK 1600/DEF 0 LV 4]
Leon: Looks like it's my turn [SPC: Leon = 12 Yusuke = 1]. I summon Power Supplier [ATK 400/DEF 400 LV 2]. Using this, Airship Goliath gains even more power [ATK 4900/DEF 3500 LV 12].
Salia: It's even stronger now!
Leon: Go on! There's no point using Neo Speed World! Airship Goliath attacks Building Block. Go Great Air Assault! And by negating his effect, all my opponent's monsters are destroyed.
All the monsters are blown away by the strong wind.
Leon: And now you're wide open! Power Supplier attacks directly!
Yusuke: Trap card, Synchro Abyss. As two monsters were destroyed, Building Block and Sharp Edger, I can remove them both from play and Synchro Summon. I remove Block and Edger for a level 6 Synchro monster.
Block and Edger become 6 stars that line up and a light shines through them [2 + 4 = 6]
Yusuke: Sound jets into a new force of speed that then becomes power. Synchro Summon! Sound-Speed Shooter [ATK 2400/DEF 1000 LV 6].
Leon: Hold up Power Supplier! You can't fight that! Well, looks like I've gotta end my turn. Your move kid.
Yusuke: Leon….you could have won had you just used the damage effect. Why didn't you?
Leon: My goal isn't to win. It's to show you, Yusuke. The power of Delta Accel Synchro.
Yusuke: But why now? Why not sooner?
Leon: Because the time wasn't right.
Yusuke: Time?! I have no idea what you mean! Make some freaking sense already!
Leon: Yusuke….haven't you wondered, even for one second, why I dueled you in the first place? It's because it was meant to be.
Yusuke: Meant to be?
Leon: I was in the Regal Olympians, remember? Ever since I was born, the Oracle only had one goal for me….
He remembers. A younger version of Leon speaks the Oracle.
Oracle: The day will come Leon, when a chosen hero awakens. At that time, a great darkness will also descend. Leon, when the time comes, show him the way. Show him the path that you walked down. The power of Accel Synchro.
Leon: Yes…sir…

In the rain, Leon's hands are bloody and he smiles up as Airship Goliath appears and the card is in his hand.
Leon: It was so I could be beaten!
Yusuke: Well….if you want to be beaten…I'd be more than happy to oblige! But how….your monster is stronger.
Leon: Come on Yusuke. You know the answer. Against Titan, Pandora, hell, even Seth. Did you need to evolve? Or did you go…sideways?
Yusuke: Sideways….that's it! I get it now! Alright, you asked for this though! I draw [SPC: Leon = 12 Yusuke = 2]. As I drew Speed Spell- Turn Back Time while it is the only card in my hand, I return it to the deck and draw 2 cards. Now I use Speed Spell- Angel Baton. This lets me draw 2 cards and discard one. Now I summon Tuner Lord [ATK 1900/DEF 0 LV 4]. When this card is summoned, one Tuner monster revives. I bring back Tune Mechanic [ATK 700/DEF 500 LV 2]. Level 2 Tune Mechanic tune to level 4 Tuner Lord.
Mechanic becomes 2 rings that Lord flies through, becoming 4 stars [2 + 4 = 6]
Yusuke: Winds speed past faster than noise and slash the opponent to pieces with fast and graceful strokes. Synchro Summon, Sound- Speed Slicer [ATK 2400/DEF 1900 LV 6]
Leon: The one that can attack directly….
Yusuke: Now for his effect! Since I use Tune Mechanic as Synchro material, he gains 100 attack points for each material monster [ATK 2600/DEF 1900 LV 6]. Now his effect! By halving his attack points [ATK 1300/DEF 1900 LV 6]. He can wage a direct attack. I attack you directly Leon! Go, Sickle Sonicboom!
Leon: Don't think so! I use the effect of Airship Goliath! By subtracting 500 attack points [ATK 4400/DEF 3500 LV 12], I can negate the effect of a monster and make it battle Goliath. [ATK 2600/DEF 1900 LV 6]. Come get me Slicer!
Yusuke: Hey….I have no complaints to that.
Leon: ….Um, come again?
Yusuke: I discard Gemini Connector! When I have two monsters of the same level out, I can combine their attack points for one monster. Sound- Speed Shooter and Sound Speed Slicer are both level 6 monsters. This means their powers are added [ATK 5000/DEF 1900 LV 6].
Leon: No way! He….went sideways.
Yusuke: This is an Accel Synchro. But between monsters and their power, not to summon something new! Go, Noise Sonic Impact!
Shooter fires rapidly as the bullets form a shell around Slicer. Goliath reaches for it as Slicer sends out a sonicboom surrounded by bullets, chopping through its arm and cutting through its head. Everyone watches in awe as Goliath tips over and falls backwards, blowing up. Leon looks up as the explosion engulfs him.
Leon: So in the end….I'm really nothing but a messenger. Agh….. [Leon LP = 0]
Supplier and the holograms vanish as Yusuke comes to a stop. He pants in exhaustion as everyone sits in shock before clapping.
Alicia: He won….he actually won!
Dex: And he didn't even need Accel Synchro!
Armen: Amazing….his power is even greater than I thought!
Grayson: This'll be interesting.
Sigma: Meh heh. One step closer.
Yusuke walks over to Leon.
Yusuke: How you feeling?
Leon: Well, my pride aches like hell, but other than that, I'm fine.
Yusuke: Leon…thank you. For showing me Delta Accel Synchro. Now I know I can get stronger. And some day, I'll master that too.
Leon: When that happens, duel me again. Of course, by that point, you'll be too good!
Yusuke: 10 years right?
Leon: ….Yusuke…I showed you that so you could learn it sooner.
Yusuke: Sooner? Why?
Leon: The Machine Emperors are bad. But something worse is coming. I'm not worried though. I know you can handle it. Anyway, enjoy the title of #9! It's yours now!
He takes off. Yusuke watches him go.
Yusuke: Something….worse?
He fingers his Fate Crystal. Seth suddenly jumps and turns to the roof of the stadium as the mysterious shadow standing there. Seth blinks and he's gone.
Salia: What's wrong?
Seth: Don't know…..
Armen and Grayson stare down at the arena. The Fates watch this in the void.
Third Fate: That was underwhelming.
First Fate: I rather enjoyed it.
Second Fate: Either way, his power has been seen. I know it now. He is worthy...of Delta Accel Synchro.
Ending
