Card of the Day: Numb Divine Duke
Episode 245: The God Who Forms the Land!
The land outside the castle begins to shake from all the duels going on. Inside the Earth Room, Sir Granmarg and Cain are still fighting [Sir Granmarg LP = 1800] [Cain LP = 3800]. Jurrac Giganoto and Jurrac Meteor hover on the field [ATK 2100/DEF 1800 LV 7] [ATK 2800/DEF 2000 LV 10] while Cain has Crash Warrior on the field [ATK 3200/DEF 500 LV 5]
Sir Granmarg: At this time, I use the effect of Jurrac Giganoto. For each Jurrac monster in the graveyard, the attack points of all my Jurrac monsters rise by 200. There are a total of 8 Jurrac monsters in my graveyard. Each of my monsters then gains 1600 attack points. [ATK 3700/DEF 1800 LV 7] [ATK 4400/DEF 2000 LV 10].
Cain: No way! They both have over 3000 attack points now?!
Sir Granmarg: Time for me to end this little game. Jurrac Giganoto attacks Crash Warrior. Rex Chomp!
Cain: Crash Warrior negates his own destruction by removing a Warrior monster from play [Acrobat Sniper].
The monster charges Warrior. The monster manages to knock Giganoto back, but the force of the wind almost blows Cain away as he steps ahead [Cain LP = 3300].
Sir Granmarg: You may have avoided that, but you won't avoid this! Jurrac Meteor attacks your monster. Impact!
Cain: Damn! What do I do?! Synchro Medallion prevents effects from affecting his cards. The way it is, I won't take a lot of damage. But it's going to cost me my monster. No….I can't lose my monster! I use the Quick- Play Spell Half- Seize! This lets me halve the attack points of my monster [ATK 1600/DEF 500 LV 5]. Now he can't be destroyed in battle.
Meteor plows into it, creating a huge explosion. Jack and Shaman barely stay on their feet as Cain is blast back by the explosion, rolling across the dirt and hitting a large rock [Cain LP = 400].
Sir Granmarg: My, my. I was not expecting you to do something like that. Why take more damage?
Cain: I'm a Sector Seven leader. And a leader must protect his workers no matter what! A leader must be as loyal to his servants as his servants are to him.
Granmarg is silent and thinks of Chaos King, as well as man in camouflage smoking a cigar.
Sir Granmarg: ….You continue to annoy me so. I'll silence your mouth. I end my turn. Half- Seize no longer applies [ATK 3200/DEF 500 LV 5]. Don't even think about giving up. I want to see your face. When I take everything you believe in and crush it under my boot.
Cain: No problem. Bring it old timer!
Opening [recap of the Turn crossover. The Seven Stars pursue Sado to the park. They attack and everything is flung through time and space. Everyone quickly leaves the area as Yugi and his friends talk. The Seven Stars sit in a hotel, not knowing what to do. Raythe encounters Abbie and their powers collide, causing massive destruction as Yuji and Yugi duke it out. Their duel ends up in a tie as their monsters blow up and Sado appears, swiping the Millennium Puzzle and Yuji]
Back in the Earth room, Cain is panting as a cut above his eyes begins oozing blood.
Cain: Damn….
He tries to wipe it away as Granmarg throws him a tissue.
Sir Granmarg: Cuts above the eye bleed profusely. Cover it up to limit the bleeding.
Cain: I don't need charity from you. If I want my blood to turn my coat red, why not?
Sir Granmarg: Fine. Don't blame me if you become anemic though.
Cain: Here we go! I draw. Not much I can do. Somehow I've got to stay alive for just a little longer. All I can do is keep playing defense and hold back his attacks. But I have to be careful about sending monsters to his graveyard. That's only going to raise the power of his monsters. Need to be pace myself here. I set a card. Next I'll change my Crash Warrior to defense mode [ATK 3200/DEF 500 LV 5] and end my turn.
Jack: That can't be all he can do! Granmarg's got way more cards than he does!
Shaman: Yes. It would appear things are not looking good. This Granmarg…he's very strong. And yet….I see such deep sadness within him.
Jack: Sadness? What do you mean?
Shaman: I can't really describe it. He just seems…..so very sad. As though he is in pain, even now.
Sir Granmarg: I draw. I summon Jurrac Dino [ATK 1700-3300/DEF 800 LV 3]. Let's battle. Go Jurrac Dino, Jurrac Giganoto, Jurrac Meteor.
Cain: I don't think so! Trap card, Negate Attack! Every attack against me is now negated. So my monster is safe.
All three monsters plow into a barrier and fling back.
Sir Granmarg: I see. That was foolish of me. Always should be wary of set cards. I end my turn.
Cain: Something's odd with this guy. He's not spouting his annoying metaphors. Come to think of it, he's acting a lot more depressed than usual. Gah! Come on McKnight, focus! You need to worry about winning the duel! Can't let anything else distract me. Gotta stay tough, stay focused. Here we go, I draw. I use Pot of Greed. This lets me draw 2 cards from my deck. Next I summon Comrade Swordsman of Landstar [ATK 500/DEF 1200 LV 3]. As long as this guy is out, he powers up all of my Warrior type monsters by 400 attack points [ATK 900/DEF 1200 LV 3] [ATK 3600/DEF 500 LV 5].
Sir Granmarg: Such a thing is useless I'm afraid. Even with that boost in power, you would have to be insane to attack me.
Cain: That's not my goal. I tune my level 3 Comrade Swordsman of Landstar and my level 5 Crash Warrior.
Swordsman becomes 3 rings that Warrior flies through, becoming 5 stars [3 + 5 = 8]
Cain: Come on out Colossal Fighter [ATK 2800/DEF 1000 LV 8]. For each Warrior monster in the graveyard, he gains 100 attack points. There are 6 Warrior monsters in the graveyard [ATK 3400/DEF 1000 LV 8]. Go on, attack Jurrac Dino!
It flies forward and punches the monster, taking it down. Granmarg stands still as the wind blows [Sir Granmarg LP = 1700].
Sir Granmarg: Another Jurrac has been sent to the graveyard. This powers up my monsters even more [ATK 4600/DEF 2000 LV 10] [ATK 3900/DEF 1800 LV 7].
Cain: Scary dinoes. Oo. I set a card. Turn end.
Sir Granmarg: I see. It is my turn then. I draw.
Jack: What he'd do that for?! Now he's even more defenseless!
Shaman: Not necessarily. True, his monster is in attack mode, but he dealt damage. And he has that set card. It's probably a game breaker. Otherwise, he would not play such a risky move. Cain is not that kind of man.
Sir Granmarg: He is clearly luring me into some kind of trap. I can see it in his smug grin. How I hate that grin….I'll wipe it off his face. Truly….it is such an ugly thing. I'll erase it. I summon Jurrac Iguanon [ATK 1700-3500/DEF 700 LV 4]. Now let's battle. This time you won't slip away gazelle. Prepare to be eaten.
Cain: Fooled ya. Trap card, Grave Shift! Now all monsters in both of our graveyards are removed from play.
Sir Granmarg: What?!
Cain: All your Jurracs are gone! So are my Warriors [ATK 1700/DEF 700 LV 4] [ATK 2800/DEF 1000 LV 8]. Now, let's see our monsters match up based on pure power.
Fighter punches straight through Iguanon when it charges. The monster twitches and blows up as Granmarg sticks his sword in the ground to stop from being blown backwards [Sir Granmarg LP = 600].
Sir Granmarg: No problem. Another Jurrac is in the graveyard, which will power up my monsters once more.
Cain: Come on, I'm not that stupid. The effect of Grave Shift is active until the end of the turn.
Sir Granmarg: It is?! Damn….I have to change my monsters back to defense mode [ATK 2800/DEF 2000 LV 10] [ATK 2100/DEF 1800 LV 7]. Damn….how could I act so rash? Now things are looking bad.
Cain: Here we go, I draw. I set a card. Now Colossal Fighter attacks your Jurrac Giganoto!
Fighter leaps into the air and crushes it.
Cain: That ends my turn. At this time, Grave Shift returns all cards back to the graveyards [ATK 3400/DEF 1000 LV 8]. Too bad your monster is gone. Giganoto can no longer power up your monsters.
Jack: He's doing well out there.
Shaman: Yes, indeed. But still….Granmarg's aura has not changed. He most likely will not just lie down and accept this.
Sir Granmarg: My turn. I use the Spell card Paradise Lost. I remove from play a Field Spell in the graveyard and draw 2 cards. Now I use Soul Infants. I send Jurrac Meteor to the graveyard. Now I can summon monsters whose levels add up Meteor's level from my graveyard. I'll revive these three monsters. Come on, Jurrac Brachis [ATK 1000/DEF 1000 LV 3], Jurrac Dino [ATK 1700/DEF 800 LV 3], and Destroyersaurus [ATK 1800/DEF 1100 LV 4]. You made me look like a fool. I will not let that go gazelle. The lion must not look like a fool because of its food. I summon Jurrac Stauriko in defense mode [ATK 500/DEF 400 LV 2]. That ends my turn.
Cain: Here we go! I summon Marauding Captain [ATK 1200/DEF 400 LV 3]. Let's go! I attack Jurrac Brachis with Colossal Fighter!
Sir Granmarg: Trap card, Trick Offering. Now a monster with a similar level becomes the target of your attack. I choose Jurrac Dino.
Cain: No problem!
It extends its fist and plows the monster into the ground.
Cain: And now my Captain will attack Jurrac Stauriko!
It slices through it.
Sir Granmarg: When he is destroyed, I can summon two Tokens [ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 1 each]
Cain: Alright, turn end.
Sir Granmarg: I draw. And now the final curtain will fall. I summon Jurrac Ptera [ATK 800/DEF 1500 LV 3].
Shaman: …It can't be!
Jack: What is it old man!? Hang on….five monsters, level of….oh no!
Cain: Here it comes.
Sir Granmarg: I tune my level 3 Jurrac Brachis, level 3 Jurrac Ptera, level 4 Destroyersaurus, and both level 1 Tokens.
Brachis becomes 3 rings that Destroyersaurus, Ptera, and both Tokens fly through, becoming 9 stars [3 + 4 + 3 + 1 + 1 = 12]
Sir Granmarg: Rumble great earth and move, showing your great and regal self as the land itself. Limit Over Synchro Summon! Creator of Earth- Rikerra!
The ground shakes so badly that Jack and Shaman almost fall over. A tail emerges from the ground as something large rises up. Cain sweats as a giant armadillo like creature now stands, opening its eyes and roaring [ATK 5000/DEF 5000 LV 12].
Cain: A Creator huh? So this thing is what the others fought….
Jack: Whoa….
Shaman: Such amazing power….even my own Hot Heart can't compete with it.
Sir Granmarg: Meet the god that forms the land. With it, I will bury you under a mountain. Rikerra, attack his Colossal Fighter. Continent Break Fissure!
Cain: I don't think so! Trap card, Gigantic Iron Shield. Now Fighter goes into defense mode, safe from injury [ATK 3400/DEF 1000 LV 8]
Sir Granmarg: Fool. Any monster that my Creator battles is forced to obey the laws of the earth. In other words, I can either put your monster in attack mode, or defense mode. I choose Attack mode.
Cain: But…
Sir Granmarg: Farewell…..gazelle.
It stomps the ground, creating a massive shockwave that hurtles towards Colossal Fighter. It is forced into attack mode [ATK 2800/DEF 1000 LV 8]. A mountain rises from the ground, destroying it. Dust is kicked up as Cain is blown away. Granmarg stands for a second, his cape billowing in the dusty wind as he turns.
Sir Granmarg: And so the lion kills the gazelle.
Cain: Don't….count me out….
Granmarg turns as Cain stands there, covered in dust. One of his lenses has shattered and blood is dripping down from his cut even faster.
Sir Granmarg: Impossible! You shouldn't still be alive!
Cain: Yeah, how about that? Simply this. Gigantic Iron Shield also negates all damage I take this turn. And using Colossal Fighter's effect, I can revive one Warrior monster in the graveyard. I choose Duke of Divine Hearts [ATK 3300/DEF 1400 LV 8].
Sir Granmarg: I see. I should have expected as much. But it matters not. You're already wounded, bleeding and limping. Soon the lion will jump in for the king. Turn end.
Cain: Can't lose….won't lose….not when everyone's counting on me!
Sir Granmarg: Allow me a question, Cain McKnight. Why is it you support Sector Seven?
Cain: Why? I believe in them.
Sir Granmarg: No, that is a crappy answer. I want the honest truth. Why do you support them? Give me a real reason. Is it their motives? Their actions? Or their morals?
Cain: Hm….tough question actually. I'd say….I fight for what they stand for. No matter what, I'll fight for peace.
Sir Granmarg: ….I see. You are truly a gazelle, following a group. You simply follow blindly as your pack decides what to do. Truly it is the definition of pathetic.
Cain: Huh?
Sir Granmarg: Let me tell you a story Cain. A story of a man who loved his country. A man who loved his country so much, he would follow it to hell and back. A man who loved his country, so very much, that he joined the army to fight for it. And the first decades in the military was a dream come true. Fighting to keep his country safe at all costs. He was well prepared to throw his life on the line. But as the years went on, his eyes began to open and look around at what was near him. As he watched, he saw his country turn sour. As they grew stronger, they grew hungrier for power. And they began to invade other countries to make their sick fantasy come to pass.
On a battlefield, a much younger Granmarg watches the destruction around him with sad eyes. In a village, people are running as soldiers are torching the buildings as Granmarg stands frozen. A forest is then burnt as Granmarg watches flower petals flying through the smoky air with tears in his eyes.
Sir Granmarg: And by then….I had enough. I could no longer bear to see the country I loved so much turn to evil. I left the army and wondered lost, a man without purpose or a reason to live.
Granmarg sits in the rain as Chaos King has an umbrella and extends a hand.
Sir Granmarg: I was then inducted into the Knights. I only agreed to see what their motives were. Even now, I do not agree with them. But I joined and stay for one reason. What should I believe in? Hope or despair? That's what I want to learn. So keep fighting and we can both learn.
Cain: I…draw. I use Deed to the Country. I destroy a monster on the field and draw 2 cards. I destroy Marauding Captain. I can understand you Granmarg. Yet at the same time, you still really confuse me.
Sir Granmarg: Come again?
Cain: It is good to believe in your country. But if you truly believed in it, you would never lose faith in it! You would stand by it and what it did, no matter what!
Sir Granmarg: I really don't get you. How can you have such blind allegiance? How can you follow that organization through everything? Does it matter that much to you?
Cain: Yeah….it does. True, Sector Seven might not have done great things. Sure, some things they might even be ashamed of. But if you truly loved something, you would also help guide them! I'll stand by Sector Seven through thick and thin! And if they ever deviate from their path, I'll help guide Sector Seven back in the correct direction!
His deck begins to glow as a powerful aura radiates from him.
Shaman: Can it be…!?
Sir Granmarg: Impossible!
Cain: Heh. It's about time. I draw my two cards! Now I reverse the level of a monster [ATK 3300/DEF 1400 LV -8] and Special Summon my Agent of Seven [ATK 0/DEF 0 LV 8]
Jack: That thing….wow does this mean…!?
Cain: I tune the level -8 Duke of Divine Hearts and level 8 Agent of Seven!
Seven becomes 8 rings that Duke flies through, becoming 8 black stars that destroy the rings [-8 + 8 = 0]
Cain: At the end of the kingdom's era, the soldiers will pick up the pieces and build a new kingdom! Zero Synchro! Show yourself, Numb Divine Duke [ATK 3800/DEF 2800 LV 0].
Sir Granmarg: Big deal. It is still too weak.
Cain: Maybe so, but that's the point. The effect of my monster deals all damage I take to my opponent instead. Go Duke! Change your agony into strength!
Sir Granmarg: I use his effect and change your monster into defense mode. Now you can't wound me.
Cain: I knew you would do that. I use the Spell card Mono E Mono. Now both our monsters are forced into attack mode and forced to do battle!
Sir Granmarg: This can't be….how could I lose?! Me….number 3!?
Cain: Go Agony Redirector!
The monster swings its sword. The monster plows into Rikerra. The forced of the attack is absorbed into the sword and turns it bright red. The Knight swings the sword again, releasing a powerful shockwave that cuts through the Creator. The red wave then streaks towards Granmarg and engulfs him [Sir Granmarg LP = 0]. He stands for a moment before falling to his knees as Cain breathes deeply and deactivates his Disk.
Jack: Nice work!
Shaman: Yes. Even I'll give you credit.
Cain: No problem. I just hope everyone else won their battles.
Granmarg stands up again, shivering in pain. He draws his sword and slides it over to Cain. He picks it up.
Cain: Why?
Sir Granmarg: I'm no longer a Knight. What you do means nothing to me. Just promise…you won't lose faith in what you believe in.
Cain: You don't need to worry about that. Come on guys, let's move!
They run off as Granmarg sits there.
Sir Granmarg: I only hope you can….after learning the truth of everything.
Down in the dungeon, shouts are head. Nihility, Effigy, and Delg walk by a cell and freeze up.
Sir Thestalos: Finally! Our pizza is here!
Sir Caius: Get me out of here! Please! I can not deal with this group of idiots anymore!
Lady Urma: You're no peach yourself Caius.
Effigy: But….this makes no sense! Didn't you all die?!
Sir Ginro: That was all a trick.
Sir Kuraz: He wanted to lure you here under that impression. It would raise the seeds of battle.
Nihility: Then that means….everything, the fights, the Chaos, a time limit. It was all a Trap.
Chaos King sits on his throne and begins to chuckle.
Chaos King: All according to plan.
Huge amounts of Chaos containers bubble behind him.
Ending [recap of crossover. The casts from both arrive at where Sado is as he begins to absorb Yuji and Yugi's power. They both activate their Duel Disks and take him on head on. Sado quickly summons a field full of Ritual monsters as Yuji and Yugi begin to summon their ace cards. In the end, they manage to defeat Sado as he morphs into a powerful creature. The Seven Stars combine into the Seven- Star Knight and destroy him with one swipe of its sword, saying farewell as it returns to its original timeline]
