@johnblz: Agree 100% with everything. Games now are soul-less and generic. Everything is a copy of the same boring and over used formula, open world, some quests, souls mechanics and some very scripted cutscenes in between. Sure it was good the first couple times, but now its every single game and its boring.
That or as you pointed out its a quick cash grab game like Valorant. Loaded to the eye balls with cosemtic microtransactions.
I suspected thisn would be the case, it would be nothing more than a shameless pay to win cash grab. Guess I was right, glad I never bothered starting it.
Anyone defending this whole loot box model clearly does not realise that this is in essence the death of gaming.
List the game for £20, with cosmetic microtransactions ONLY - only way it will ever happen is to stop playing these games.
@ZIMdoom: I would say it's like talking to a brickwall but it's not exactly, because you keep changing your story but you do ignore everything thrown at you so its a bit of both.
I feel like you have some internal difficulties that you are trying to project maybe?
I'm curious in what way YouTube has burned you? Seems to be a pretty big focus of your whole agruement "youtube is out to get star wars and rian johnson, it has nothing to do with the actual movie or it's problems".
As for my "overflated sense of self worth and the brilliance of my ignorant opinion" (seems a little dramatic have to say) I would suggest you read your own posts and honestly tell me that isn't exactly how you've sounded since your first reply (more projection I think eh?)
@ZIMdoom: So all of the discontent with TLJ is because of YouTube? It has nothing to do with; poor writing, plot holes, retcons and inconsistency it creates within the Star Wars universe as a whole?
Sounds to me like you have reactionary anger towards YouTube...
@ZIMdoom: I was there when the prequels released saw them in the cinema and talked about them on forums/the internet afterwards. I can say with total certainty the feeling of discontent with TLJ far outstrips that of any prequel movie.
So my original point stands; you remember a version of events that did not happen I'm afraid. Rather than making petty statements about media sources that you believe I follow or trying to be condescending about your age; you should perhaps act your age not your shoe size and admit when you're wrong.
Providing criticism doesn't equal hate, without criticism nothing will improve and based on the last peformance of the franchise (Solo) there is little room for debate, it needs to improve.
I love Star Wars, but I dislike very much what Disney is doing with it.
@ZIMdoom: The problem you have is that you're recounting a verison of history that did not happen. Lucas did not split the fan base in this way nor did any of the prequel movies cause this much discontent with fans, did everyone like them? No. Was it to the degree of TLJ? Again, no. So you see the real problem is that you've created a fantasy and referenced it as if it were real. Pretty basic stuff.
@Berserk8989: I think you have it twisted. TLJ was financially a success, the effect it had on the fans/franchise was undoubtedly a failure, there isn't really any debate.
I struggle to see how you could spin it to make a movie that split the fan base, a movie that has had more negative reception than any other SW movie and a movie full of retcons and inconsistencies sound like it was a success for the franchise.
@Berserk8989: What utter nonsense. Solo was released right in the aftermath of the fallout from TLJ so it had a direct large impact.
Rise Of Skywalker is releasing 2 years after the dust has settled and people have had time to get over it, I guess we'll see but I'm betting Rise Of Skywalker is going to feature some MAJOR course correction if Disney has any sense.
@Berserk8989: And I suppose the fact that Solo totally tanked afterwards wasn't an indicator of anything right? Or the very clear and obvious divide/discontent it created among fans means nothing?
There is no getting away from the fact that this movie was not a success for the franchise or for Disneys Star Wars.
