I've long been a fan of the Gran Tourismo series. I'm an actual life gear head and love the detail with which you have been able to tweak gears, ride heights and even tire pressure since the original debut title. I've enjoyed past iterations so much so, I almost purchased a PS3 specifically for the title in anticipation of what it was going to provide. Better judgement however did tell me to wait for the games reviews to come out before making such a purchase. Now, after GS's recent review (and reviews by other Gameing sites) I have to say I am disappointed in what I've seen and read.
Granted I have not played the game, I'll make that clear. But the fact GT5 has been and is a flagship title of Sony's, and after the long delays that have been repeatedly announced in order to perfect teh final product and the promised overall greatness of teh game, to see consistant 8/10 scores is to say the least, disappointing. It makes me wonder if Sony gameing devision has a case of the "Molyneuxs". Offering and promising more than it is able to provide in the end. An incredible machine with HUGE processing power but is ultimately difficult to program for, graphically gorgeous games like Heavenly Sword which ultimately fall short on content. The PS3 has defiantely had it's successes, don't get me wrong. Heavy Rain and Uncharted 2 have always intrigued me and make me want more great gaming content on teh Sony mega-console. And of course 8.0 is not a bad score for GT5. In fact, I'm sure there are many many MANY fans who are enjoying the title for all it offers right now. I was however expecting more than what I'm being told was delivered in the end.
