A Tribute to Jeff Gerstmann
by tekmojo on Comments
In recent events here at Gamespot, I have decided to give a little something back to Jeff. Even though I never met him, I feel like I knew him all this time. It's truly sad to see him leave, and I know everyone will miss his witty attitude, and his great sense of humor. He was always honest in his work, and I hope to see him again in the near future. Anyways, here is a tribute I made for him that will help me remember him whenever I need to look back on this event in Gamespot history.

Finally finished my first Sourceforts map. It was a great process, learned some of the tools from Hammer(map editor)as I went along. So all that's left to do is enjoy the map, I know I will.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to get it on a server to play with some people. Hope I can get that worked out soon. Also with the new version of SF coming out soon, expect to see more maps from me. :)
A SourceForts Map, Work In Progress
by tekmojo on Comments
Hey all, lately I've been working on a map for a HL2 mod called SourceForts. It's a pretty good mod with a ton of potential so I've decided to develop my first HL2 map for it. Anyways it's gonna be called sf_trench and basically this mod allows you to build up a base around an existing environment to prevent the enemy team from capturing the flag. Still a bunch of work left but if you want to follow it as I go along the development here's the link: http://www.sourcefortsmod.com/boards/showthread.php?t=7712
Some thumb screens here: (larger ones in the link above)
It's a work in progress so expect to see changes for the better.

After the Show
by tekmojo on Comments
It was a great overall E3 this 2007. I tried to watch as much of it as possible, and I'm looking forward to all the new blockbuster games coming out in this year and the following. However, I was concerned when I heard Square Enix had left their booth entirely, and headed back home. Hopefully they can fix some things so that everyone doesn't feel like a barcode. They need more crazy things I say.
I'm glad Gamespot pulled through with their ever-growing dedication towards gaming, and developers alike. Maybe they should have seperate rooms for each game company. Hell, maybe they need to sound proof surrounding glass walls on those rooms so that they have total freedom on what they are trying to promote. That way people can still watch from the outside, but inside developers can conduct controlled events. Just an idea.
I believe Sony straightened some business, but also caused a bit more stories to arise for the coming weeks and months concerning the 60gb SKU of the PS3. I have no problem with what they are doing. It's part of their long term plan (10 year-plan) and hopefully they will set it up correctly soon. I didn't really focus on the Wii, or the 360, but I believe they did an overall good job with their conferences and with other interviews. The only reason for that, is I am buying a PS3 soon, and I wanted to shift most of my attention towards Sony.
The conferences were probably the main focus at this E3. But after that, people had time to go and play the games, andalsotalk about some new titles coming in the future. Some of my personal games were the following:
(No particular order)
Heavenly Sword
Killzone 2
Crysis
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue
LittleBigPlanet
So there you have it, E3 2007 is in the past, but I hope everyone enjoyed it and I thank Gamespot for connecting the rest of the world that couldn't be there (including me), to another interesting yet different gaming event. Happy gaming!
