I am not saying that is a bad system. I want to have one in the future, maybe when it has a lot of games, and if I`m lucky when they redesign it.

if you have one great!, but be honest do you really are confortable with his looks and size.

The last wekend I saw a PS3 in a retail store, I look at it from every angle, checking the conecctions, and style.and I said to myself. -This is the ugliest machine some artist can ever create-, I mean not even the Atari 2600; the first xbox looks like a pretty tiny easy to handle system compare with this, what the f&%$ where they thinking about, My theory is that the guy who design the system  hates Sony. and the worst (or better) he gets paid for making a game system look like a GRILL.

If you saw it, please say what it looks to you.

Hello everybody im new here on the forum and glad to be here so please go easy on me :)

now with that being said i will now give my thoughts on the PS3 controller, i have so much to say so let me start

i read 5 pages of this thread and i can kinda guess what the other 40 are, people who still have a problem with
the controller and its abilities. if you are one who sees the big picture with sony's idea to include a tilt sensor in
its controller thats good. if you are one who don't well allow me to paint a picture for you.
first let me ask you a question, how many of you gamers sit still without moving and tilting the controller
while playing your favorite game? 1....2.....maybe 3? let me ask you another question, why do you tilt and
move your controller while playing your favorite game? many of you do tilt while playng, think im wrong?
why don't you look down at your hands the next time you are playing your game.

remember back in the old days when playing the game we would tilt and move the controller because we thought
that it would help or make some differance in gameplay, well now it will. and what i dont understand is why everybody
thinks this is a bad move on sony's part, i think it is a good move by sony to include a tilt sensor in the controller
tilting the controller will now be as natural as moving the joystick,

i see the future in this technology and it looks good.
many of you say that this is a poor atempt at stealing nintendo's idea but i don't think so
many new ideas are born this way. remember when dodge started making minivans with 2 sliding doors
then it became a standard for all minivans from that point on, or when german luxary cars included a GPS
navigation system and now almost every car has one.what nintendo did was set the new standard for
a new type of gameplay. you can tell me all you want about not wanting this feature but deep down inside
you know you want to try it. i mean look at all of the things you can do with the controller
can you for a second imagine what this will mean for any game coming out in the future.

a boxing game is a good example, while boxing you could tilt the controller left or right to make the charactor lean
left or right to avoid getting punched.or a shooting game where tilting the controller back and forward will make
you look up or down making targeting a little easier,or how about a new tony hawk game with this feature
tilting the controller will balance the skater while grinding or doing manuals. there are too many other ideas to list
but this is just the icing on the cake.

as for the look.
IMHO i think the boomerang controller sucked,i was glad to see they stuck with the same controller
there is nothing more for me to say on looks.

as for the rumble feature being removed.
i could care less, it really did little for me and my girlfreind enjoyed it a little too much. i will agree with one thing
though, i will miss the rumble feature in shooting games but thats it. so they trashed the rumble feature BIG DEAL!
if you need the rumble feature so bad then go play the xbox 360. but if you want to take a step in a new
direction in gameplay then the PS3 is the place to be.

i am a playstation fan, sure i have all the other systems but my playstation is always the one with the most games
im just glad the nintendo fans have 1 less thing to brag about lol.

if by now you still dont like the tilt feature just wait untill you get your PS3 you might change your mind.

well thats all for now.

Maybe you don´t care about rumble in the PS3 controller, thinking  in FPS,  Third Person Shooters, but what about Survival Horror Games (Resident evil, Silent Hill, etc) and lot´s of other games that exploit´s the rumble feature, Sony could not put together tilt sensor and vibration, and they sacrifice one thing for the other, how many games are going to gain with tilt sensor, how many are going to loose with out vibration.

Time will tell.

Looks like somebody makes love whit his Playstation, how is possible to say that one system is better than the other if only one is out there, please that is garbage talk, my dad is better than yours, common, all the gamers win with console war, and if you preferred the same ´´perfect´´ controller for the rest of your life, I declare you husband and wife.

I personally preferred a new girlfriend diffrent from the last ´´perfect one´´

Well, I didn't say that the other consoles themselves are miles worse (they're clearly not). I was talking in terms of controllers (and games). And I believe that the PS3 has the best one, until proven otherwise. Maybe - if I get to play with Wii's "ultimate revolution" remote and it turns out to be a precise and handy masterpiece - then I'll have to eat my words. But it's safe to say that 360's pad is NOT very good, I've played the Xbox machine. Oh, and I never called the PS3 controller perfect (that equals flawless). Also, I have nothing against totally new controller, (but bananarang? - come on, that thing deserved to be buried) but it's understandable why Sony didn't want to reinvent the whole thing. There's no need to go and make the pad look like something found in a mad scientists trash can. Of course - if you have a complete, innovative and working plan from ground up how to combine the new console with completely new controller and work out the way the games are going to take advantage of all this (like Nintendo did with Wii) - it's excellent and everything makes sense. However, Sony had a different approach - they wanted to bring the gaming to the next level in terms of graphics, sound & gameplay elements - not so much the way you manipulate your character in game. So the idea to make the new controller to look like a hybrid of a poor sci-fi weapon and a fruit - just because some people think that it would be so cool if they could sit in front of a TV with a controller that looks so futuristic and shiny and all-new - was indeed pointless. They took the design that worked very well and improved it the way PS3's next gen games demanded. Which is a very wise decision. Of course, I don't want to use the same controller forever, but you gotta understand - controllers are the way they are because people behind the game systems want to give us the most comfortable and accurate way to experience and enjoy their games. Wii's controller is totally different because Nintendo's new approach to their games mechanics demands it. When Sony (PS) games are going to need a different pad to enjoy them fully - then there's going to be a brand new controller. But right now? You play computer games? Would you like your mouse totally redesigned and "revolutionised"?  -    ""Yes, we know it works brilliantly right now, but the people are a bit bored of this old design (well, yes, mice  a r e  now wireless and more accurate, but that's nearly not enough, right!!) and want something cooler - so we're just gonna make this Logitech thingy here look like a cucumber in year 3000! You don't mind, right!?""        Come on, people.
As far as the copying goes... I admit that the basic mechanics (d-pad, face buttons and finally basic thumbstick idea) came from Nintendo. Come on - they're the oldest company in the business, so the newcomers had to pick up from somewhere. My point is: Sony did not copy - they took some ideas that already existed in the industry and they made their own controller based around general mechanics. Just look at the controllers of Nintendo 64 and PlayStation - they are different alright.
Nintendo 64's controller - released in 1996
PSOne, console is released in 1995;  DualShock controller in 1998

It was Sony who introduced two thumbsticks and the whole modern layout.
So you could say that GameCube ripped off PSOne controller design, but I woun't 'cos it still has it's own standout design elements in it and is still quite identifiably "Nintendo"

The Xbox 360's pad, however looks like an almost 1:1 PlayStation (ok, this gen has Home button) rip-off:

And to top it off - no, PS3's controller is not perfect but it would be pretty damn close to it if it still had DualShock...

Sorry, if I went too far with praising PlayStation in my previous comment. All three consoles are undoubtedly good and have their strengths and weaknesses - it just seems to me that PS3 has the best balance between them.  Don't get me wrong - Nintendo's Wii is interesting, has some rather great exclusive games plus, of course the most unique controlling system(Nintendo took a big risk with this - my respect); and, well - Xbox360 has Halo. And Fable.
Hmm, I remember there was a time when Xbox360-orientated reviewers had weeks of spare time 'cause there just woesn't ANY games to preview/review - so if you're a very busy guy, then it's a big plus.
Oh, by the way - I've never met a guy who refers to console's controller as his girlfriend. You must be a very lonely man...

I´m sure you know more about videogame Industry than me, but my poiint is, you work like a designer for Sony and your job is to make a new controller and present that product to the world, and you make almost the same than the one was made more than 10 years ago (almost perfect), so you are saying that cars, mouses (not a game controller, some people use it to work I think) phones, etc. are the same in shape for 10 years, is not about wich system is better, I said that before, I ´m a Playstation cosumer like you, but not a blind fan like you, I  (a consumer) make them rich, and I expect a new controller in shape, no more no less, not the banana, the banana redesign!

You forgot to put the Genesis Controller picture

And maybe I´m a lonely man, but I now wat a metaphor means.

[QUOTE="ck666"] [QUOTE="khaos_unleashed"]The new controller is pure CRAP !!!

FPS on the PS3 will suck to death again and again and again!!!
Look at the Game Demo... soemthing Resistance... the guy has so much trouble to shoot with the thumbstick...

You want to play to some great FPS? Better go with a the other platforms... PC, 360 and Wii
Gamester108

And FPS on XBOX? They mostly copied the design of their controller off Dual Shock - you mean xbox 360 controller doesn't have thumbsticks? sure.. Besides Halo, xbox games suck anyway. Both of them. And the "wiiii" controller looks(and probably feels) like a remote for your TV, the worst controller ever. See the Red Steel video - the guy playing it couldn't hit anything, he just waved the gun around like an idiot (the graphics were butt-ugly too). Embarassing, really. It might be innovative, but it seems to be far from precise. I would definitely choose analog sticks over the Wii's remote. Speaking of which - Sony has increased the sensitivity and enlargened the tilting angle of the thumbsticks. I've played many of the PS and PS2 FPS-games - from Medal of Honor to Black (with Timesplitters, CoD and Killzone etc. in between) and DualShock works brilliantly. Sure, it probably can't compete with expensive gamer laser mouse in terms of precision, but it blows away every other game controller out there.

Oh and the Xbox 360's controller vs PS3's beauty? Just LOOK at those two - 360's pad looks like a bulky, ugly (especially the back side) DualShock rip-off, plus it weighs a ton (yes, I've hold it in my hand - it is unhandy). And look at the button mapping - copied from Sony's pad.

Anyways, the Sony didn't change the design of the PS3 controller because it was originally so great - it fits perfectly in your hand, every button is in it's right place, the sticks have great sensitivity and the overall design is beautiful and sleek. Every PlayStation gamer knows what I'm talking about. And the shoulder buttons are now fully digital - that's eight pressure sensitive buttons. It's hard to say how the new motion sensitive addition will work, but what I saw in Warhawk was pretty damn impressive and intuitive. Hmm, the vibration function was also considered pretty worthless and gimmicky at start - look where we are now.
I think that the lack of force feedback is the only drawback this new controller has. And they may be able to "fix" it in the future. It's not a big loss, but still...I'd like to feel that shot hit me in the next Killzone...

Oh and don't whine about how that bananarang would have been so cool - if you want best performance (and the controller which doesn't slip across the room) with light-weight and pretty design, then this new controller is a way to go. It's a really stupid thing to talk down a great controller just because you're a bit bored of it's overall design. Remember - you have to actually play with this thing.

And if you want to play some great FPS? Well here you go - with Unreal Tournament 2007, new Killzone, Call of Duty 3, Killing Day, Dark Sector, F.E.A.R, Resistance: Fall of Man, Medal of Honor: Airborne, Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway, Frontlines: Fuel of War and BioShock  -  you're  all welcome  to PlayStation 3. Best graphics, best controller and the best & biggest games lineup, plus by far the strongest developers support.
And the most loyal fans.

The new controller is a pure CLASS

WORD!!!

XBOX 360 is sh** compared to the PS3

The new PS3 controller kicks a**. The 360 controller is EXACTLY THE SAME as the PS2 controller except the left analog stick and the directional pad switched positions. The only difference is the home button in the middle and thats on all of the new next-gen consoles and a lot of other stuff.  And just for your info, PS3 isn't copying the Wiimote because a lot of other stuff use motion detector. Some of these things are all those Tiger games that you connect to your TV or the new Real World Golf game for PS2, Xbox, and PC.

Yea 360 is sh** compared to the PS3

Go and tell that to Rock Star, I support you GTA IV in 360 Idiots they now nothing about the industry, PS3 is better, you and I have one in home and we can tell the diference, and Sony is a Saint they never copy anything.

I was expecting the banana redesigned, but when I saw the presentation, What? I laugh like crazy,  My question, what the hell are doing the artist who design the controller, eating chips, jocking around for months, and then.--walah we give you the dual-shock, take us 12 months of hard work.

I want the banana! please, forgive me god, I was an ignorant.
