People justifying their social lives - do not fret. The article did not state you are indeed an addict with social inadequicies if you game over 20 hours. It said in their tests, gamers who exceeded 20 hours were to experience mood swings and symptoms of depression. I personally do believe chances are increased for gamers who put in over 20 hours, to experience these symptoms, but that does not mean you do. This information is relative to the subjects tested, and not representative of all gamers who play over 20 hours a week. I agree with masterswrod007, something must have initially been in place that was in turn "identified" by the ability to play video games. Meaning, persons with depression or feelings of loneliness, once obtaining a video game console, demonstrated their previously unidentified symptoms by now logging excessive hours into their gaming. They were depressed prior to gaming, but gaming gives people something tangible to put the blame on. SO while the video game could be irrelvant, it continues to be put on the chopping block when unfortunate and tragic issues arrise that were apparently caused due to a video gamign addiction.
