TMT's Movie Review on "The Mist"

Since it's my birthday today (turned 15, woo-hoo!), I wanted to go see The Mist in theaters. I knew Stephen King made some crazy s*** before and expected that in this one, but man, not only did crazy s*** happen (like in all other fantasy/horror films), but the most unexpected ending.

The ending is something you would NEVER expect. It was the greatest twist I've ever seen in ANYTHING, but that wasn't a good thing. My step-dad said that the critiques thought the ending was great, but I guess they meant that it was great because it was unexpected, and like I said before, the ending is definitely unexpected.

Here are the main pros and cons I thought of this:

PROS:

+ The humor in such situations. Sure, they'll probably never happen in real life in that same situation, but hell, it's still funny. There isn't too much humor, but you're not supposed to in a horror/mystery, and they did a good job on that limit.

+ The imagination of Stephen King is like a mix of George Lucas and Tom Clancy. What I mean is that you have creatures that look like some of the creatures from Star Wars and mix it with situations that might happen in a Tom Clancy book, minus the military action. Especially with the ending, this'll make you remember that Stephen King made this book.

CONS:

- Some acting is so-so at times. Not everyone's good at acting, I know that, but some of the scenes that involved people yelling since they were scared completely was sometimes funny instead of scary and suspenseful.

- The crazy/religious girl. Yes, I'm a Christian. Yes, I believe in God. But I hated how this character was one of those who believed in Old Testament times, and I mean with sacrifice and all. You'll know what I mean if you see it. I didn't like this character at all, and when a CERTAIN scene came up, I was applauding with like 5 others in the theaters thinking "shedeserved THAT!"

EXTRA:

You might want to look up Wikipedia to understand the plot after you see it. You might miss what the total plot is. It's kind of like Pirates of the Caribbean 3 and Call of Duty 4; you need more accurate and written/typed info to understand it more.

Overall, I'd give The Mist a 3.5 out of 5.

(This review was my own version of mrblacksmoviereviews on YouTube. He does reviews that are always accurate, in my opinion, and he rates every one of them, minus the non-movies like the God-awful Bratz movie...)
