Nintendo's Overseas Release Dates

Its always been the issue with the games industry that it takes time for a game primarily made in Japan, to then be translated and shipped to the US. This is an understandable dilema as things within the game need to be changed especially nowadays with most games containing voice overs. But aside from language boundaries and time needed to import and ship, why does it take so long for nintendo to get there games to the corners of the earth? I live in England and am yet to see Metroid on store shelves and will not be getting my copy of Phantom Hourglass until October 19th whilst the states gets the game tomorrow. Thats not the longest wait either, for Pokemon Diamond and Pearl us Brits had to wait until August 27th until we finally got our hands on it, andI understand that the States only got Mario Strikers a couple of weeks back when it was available over here at the start of June, surely it doesnt take that long to take 'Football' out of the name does it?

The game industry has got better at keeping its release dates closer together, last week we saw Halo 3 released over 3 or 4 consecutive days (which was due to timezones and the like) and this made the whole launch feel alot tighter making the hype a lot greater than it would have been if there were months or weeks seperating the releases from eachother.

Nintendo however seem to be fairly bad at having any kind of simultanious launch, with the money that they have coming in nowadays, is it hard for them to have the titles released within the same month as eachother?

PS: Along with this question comes something i am rather curious about that spans all 3 major platforms. All three consoles have some kind of online store which is great for content but there are differences in releases here too!I understand some games need licensing to be released in some areas which takes time but why ami still waiting for my HD Ratchet and Clank trailer from the PSN surely all someone has to do is upload it.
