So a few months ago, I decided it was finally time to invest some money into the Playstation Vita. I am what any serious gamer would consider a "Trophy Whore." Last week, after a disappointing five month run with the newest Sony portable system, I realized it has been sitting on my nightstand for about two months. I decided to sell it on Craigslist, getting some money to stock in my savings.
     I started out ridiculously excited about the fact that it included trophies. I was also interested in the 3G and the new games, but the trophies were the kicker. First of all, the 3G is like fifteen dollars a month for two MB and for the maximum amount, which isn't unlimited, it's $200.00 a month. I'm not sure about the rest of the world, but in this economy that is obnoxious. Aside from all that, I wasn't particularly concerned with the 3G because I'm usually connected to WiFi.
     The first game I bought was Hot Shots Golf. I've always been a fan of the Hot Shots. I almost Platinumed it, but the only thing I did with my Vita was play Hot Shots Golf. I had no other games I was interested just yet.
     The list of things I was disappointed with is infinitely long. There was nothing to customize on the menu screen. If you owned a PSP, you know that you could at least choose the color of the background to make it a little more "yours" and it also had the same format of the PS3 menu. The menu was awful, reverting back to a mix of the original PSP menu (before the update which changed it to the PS3 menu format) and a Nintendo DSi menu. I had a horrible time picking up WiFi signal in my house unless I was basically next to the router. I'm not sure if that's something all of the systems would have problems with or not, but I had no problems with any of my other wireless devices (Two separate laptops, two Nintendo 3DS', a Playstation 3, etc). I'm not sure if they have fixed this problem with newer systems, but the power button is just a pain in the ass unless you have it in stand by. 
     The games that are made specifically for the Vita are decent. The ones that come both on the PS3 and PSVita are pointless to buy on the Vita. They are the exact same games except the ones on the PS3 have better graphics. If you do have Playstation Plus, they do have A LOT of free downloadable games.
     NOW, I also have a 3DS. I'm in love with it. I know Nintendo has a rep for being a little under the other players in the gaming industry, but I am a hardcore advocate of Nintendo because of a couple things. 1. Atari started it all, but Nintendo revamped it and really fast tracked the gaming industry. They also produced the first system with 3D graphics (not the N3DS, but the N64). My biggest pet peeve is xBoxers who believe xBox has everything that was ever needed in a gaming system and constantly dog on every other system, including Nintendo. Fair enough, Nintendo doesn't have the graphics and the hardcore games, but they have the best sales because they are smart about their strategy. 1. Their systems are family friendly. As the original gamers get older, they're starting their families, and Nintendo products are kid friendly. 2. Their systems are cheaper. Let's face it - times are tough. There's going to be a point when we can't go out and spend $400.00 + on game systems. The price point and kid friendly games make them a success in the gaming industry.
     I've also been playing Pokemon since the original Red and Blue, and I own almost every Pokemon game ever made. (And I've caught them all, tooting my own horn a little bit). I enjoy the fact that Nintendo has successful character themes that travel through each generation of their consoles. Not just a few, like xBox and PS3 do, but a ton. Mario, Donkey Kong, Pokemon, Kid Icarus. These are just a FEW of the MANY themes that have followed Nintendo basically from the start. They are almost always QUALITY games. Pokemon has just continued to improve, and with the release of Pokemon X and Y, I am confident I will be satisfied with the updates to the franchise.
     The Nintendo 3DS may not be the most updated system, but the games are QUALITY. They have great story lines and keep my interest for long periods of time. WHICH is the reason I love Nintendo, and I will continue promoting Nintendos products. As far as Playstation, they will forever have some of my favorite systems, but their portable market is piss poor, and it will a long time before I invest money back into any portable system they create.
