Thoughts on Far Cry 3

You may remember my thoughts on Far Cry 2. If not, let me break it down for you... "All looks, no substance". Far Cry 2 had so many great ideas, but it suffered from so many tedious aspects that just deprived me from really enjoying the game. Far Cry 3 isn't a game I'm highly looking forward to, but i'm still willing to give it a try, and I'm hoping they rectify all the mistakes from Far Cry 2. My first thoughts after watching this trailer was "Ok, some drunk guy wakes up after having a good time to find himself abducted by crazy people with guns, and suddenly he becomes the next Rambo?" The trailer looked good... from a CGI point of view, but it does nothing to grab me into wanting to play the game. That's what i hate about cinematic trailers, they tell you nothing. Now, I'm not saying the game is going to be bad. Not at all. It's just from a game that had very high hopes (Far Cry 2), ending up being something rather average, and i don't really know what to expect with the 3rd.
Anyway, here is the new trailer. You make up your own thoughts and we'll see what happens when the game is released some time this year... maybe.

Mass Effect 3 First Impression DEMO

I tried to refrain myself from playing the demo because I didn't want to spoil the game for myself. It's obvious to me that Mass Effect 3 will not disappoint being a fan of the first two games, so i wasn't overly excited about the demo, and I'm sure you reading this will either mean you're a fan too, or you are just curious. This blog isn't to explain the plot or to go into depth about the gameplay. Playing the demo I purposely skipped cutscenes to not spoil anything in the game for myself. I'm sure you'll have a vague idea of how the game will play. What I will talk about is the added game modes and of course, the online Multiplayer.

You can play the game in 3 different modes. Action; play the game in action formats where conversations play out as cutscenes, Role Playing; the way Mass Effect 1 and 2 plays, or Story; Role Playing but on easy difficulty.
The Action mode to me is pointless to Mass Effect fans. Mass Effect is an RPG that revolves around the player making conversational chooses to determine the way the story flows. If you choice this mode, you're basically not playing the game the way It's meant to be played. The mode strips the player from conversing in conversations and experiencing the flow of the story, as well as minor gameplay elements from the previous Mass Effect games. Fair enough if you want to play the game in this mode, but I'll never understand any fan of the series willing to play the game fully on this mode. I'm sure Bioware had their reasons for adding this mode, but It's just not for me.
Role Playing mode is the way to play Mass Effect. If you've played the series from the very start (whether you've played the first on the XBOX or PC, or played it for the first time on the PS3 last year), I'm sure you'll want to continue the experience and flow of the story and RPG elements.

Mass Effect 3 features an online multiplayer mode, which is new to the series. Online multiplayer is becoming a vast aspect in games nowadays. I'm always sceptical when it comes to online multiplayer, especially when it comes to single player based games like Uncharted, Dead Space and now Mass Effect. I'm not really a big fan of online multiplayer, purely because it suck at it. Don't get me wrong, I like playing team based games. I like working in a team and sh*t. Majority of the time when I play team based online games, other player tend to care more about getting the most kills etc. Online multiplayer is a competitive place where people care more about point they get, rather than points shared with the team. Maybe I've just been unfortunate with it comes to playing online games. The best online experience I've had where people I didn't know in my team actually worked together to win was in Killzone 2.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand; Mass Effects 3's online multiplayer. Is it good? Well, yes. Yes it is. It's enjoyable enough. Mass Effects 3's multiplayer is a team based game where 4 players must work together to fight off waves of enemies. You can play as one of 6 different c.lass, each having 4 different characters (male, female and two characters from the main story) and you customise your online character's appearance, equipment, power and weapons. Most of the features are locked of course in the demo version. Each c.lass holds It's own experience points gained from when play. Playing the game will grant you experience point from kills etc, which you can then use to upgrade your abilities for the c.lass your playing as. The demo features two maps, Bronze, Silver and Gold challenges, and you can host your own public or private game. As for the gameplay itself, it plays pretty much like single player. It is fun, and even more so when playing with three other friends, but I honestly do see me putting a lot of hours play into the online multiplayer. It's the singer player campaign I'm looking forward too.

4 Reasons Why You Should Play Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning

Kingdom of Amalur is a fantasy action RPG written by R. A. Salvatore, and designed by Ian Frazier and Ken Rolston (lead designer of The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind and IV Oblivion).
I'm one of the people that has played the demo and enjoyed it, but i was sceptical towards the full game purely towards the story and if the gameplay was going to be somewhat repetitive. So far I've put 20+ hours into the game and honestly, i'm rather enjoying it. Reckoning follows many concepts from other RPG games. In fact, i don't think there is anything in the game i haven't seen before. Despite the game not really offering anything new to the genre, Kingdom of Amalur does a great job following concepts from other RPG games, instead of messing them up.
Below are 4 reasons why you should play this game.

  • 1. The GamePlay?

As said above, Kingdom of Amalur follows the same concept as other action RPG games such as the Fable series, Dragon Age, and even hints of The Elder Scrolls. If your brain is dull from playing the same type of game over and over again, you may not find Reckoning that much appealing. The game is big and there is lots of hidden item's, weapons and armours to find in the vast kingdom. Reckoning's gameplay feels a lot similar to that of Fable 2 and 3. The combat is fluent and actually quite fun. Majority of the game you're battling enemies on your own, but there are times during some quests where you'll be accompanied by a companion to aid you in battle. Kingdom of Amalur is a simplistic RPG that does revolves around a simplistic learning curve. The combat system depends on how you play of course. You can be a Worrier and fight your enemies head on, a Rouge if you prefer stealth and long range weapons, or a Mage using magic attacks. You can also use weapons simultaneously, which means you can play as a worrier, and still have the option of using Mage weapons or vice versa etc. Kingdom of Amalur is limited with it's ****s like say Dragon Age or Skyrim, but from what it does offer, it's pretty decent. Kingdom of Amalur is a rather easy game to play, which may be a bit of a dull experience for hardcore RPG fan. If so, you may want to play the game on Hard mode. Kingdom of Amalur features many side quests as you can imagine, although majority of the side quests are rather dull. For example, most of them require you to find items; journals, rings etc, for people, and or travelling back and fourth through caves etc.

  • 2. The Plot?

Now this is something that has concerned me from day one; the plot in Kingdom of Amalur. To be honest, i wasn't really expecting much. It wasn't fair on the game for me to think it was going to equal to that of Dragon Age or Skyrim so, i never really put much thought into it. So far i've put 20+ hours into the game and i have yet to experience the main plot or what is going on. I've been spending my time going through side quests and faction quests first, which is just the way i play... especially with RPG games. From what I've seen so far according to the main plot, it's pretty decent but the main plot itself hasn't yet grabbed me. Dragon Age and Skyrim for example both had great stories, and even with the many side quests both games had to offer, i really wanted to do the story related missions first because i was intrigued about the plot. Kingdom of Amalur has yet to do that for me. Your probably thinking then, why have i chosen the plot to be one of my reasons to play this game? Well, aside from not really experienced the main plot, the script writing, dialogue and some of the side quests I've seen in the game are pretty good so far. Playing the game i can tell a lot of work has gone into the script and story (even if they are just the side quests related ones so far), and here's hoping the plot is something good in the end.

  • 3. Are you an RPG fan?

Like said before, Kingdom of Alamur is a simplistic RPG, but that doesn't mean it isn't a good one. The game is certainly good, but if you were to compare it to Dragon Age or Skyrim... that's a pretty stupid comparison. There is plenty in the game RPG fans will like. You can customise your character. There are plenty of weapons, armours and items to experience with. You can create weapons, armours, potions using alchemy, as well as create gems for your weapons and armour to boost your abilities. Gaining experience points is also a common aspect in an RPG game. You gain experience points for killing enemies, and based on how you kill them such as stealth etc. As you level up, you grow your abilities using a level tree to improve your skills in, such as alchemy, stealth, blacksmith etc, as well as buy new powers using skill points. It is rather simplistic, but it is also somewhat rewarding at times.

  • 4. The Life Value?

Kingdom of Amalur is a big game. I love exploring games... if the game is good that is. There is lots to explore and to see... if you have the time to put in. When it comes to buying games, i tend to buy RPG's because i feel i get my moneys worth out of it. Kingdom of Alamur certainly has the value of weeks play, but like i said, if you have the time to put into it.

Kingdom of Amalur is certainly not the best RPG out there, but it's certainly not a bad one either. Reckoning is perhaps the easiest RPG (that i recall anyway), prefect for minor RPG players. Hardcore fans of the RPG genre may find the game rather dull, easy, and less challenging though, which may cause you to play the game on the Hard difficulty. I myself am a hardcore RPG fan. Reckoning is far from being anything as awesome as Dragon Age and Skyrim, but I'm still enjoying the game.

Aside from the positive statement you've just read, there are negative aspects to the game too. I only really have two (two worth mentioning anyway). One; Minor bugs. I have experienced some bugs in the game. One of which won't let me sell or store specific items from my inventory. And before you think... no! The items is not main items you need in the game. I'm not that stupid. Two; Online Pass. Yes, Kingdom of Amalur features an online pass, which is pretty pointless and just ridicules if you ask me. The online pass basically grants you access to 7 side missions sealed away in the game. If you decide to rent the game, those missions will be locked unless you buy an online pass. Like i said... ridiculous!

The Darkness First Impression Demo

The Darkness 2 First Impression Demo

The Darkness (based on Top Cow's graphic novel of the same name - and was released back in 2007 for the PS3, XBOX 360 and PC) is a game where you must stay in dark environments in order to use your darkness abilities to devour your enemies. You played Jackie Estacado a format hitman working for the Mafia. Jackie is burdened with a terrifying curse that he discovers on his 21st birthday; the power of the Darkness, which he inherited. Using the Darkness, Jackie is able to perform powerful and terrifying powers against anyone that stands in his way. Going against his uncle Paulie; the Don of the Franchetti crime family, Jackie wants out of the life he lives in and planes to take his girlfriend Jenny (who has no idea what kind of scumbag he really is) away from everything. But in order to do that, Jackie much fight through his life habits, his enemies, as well as his uncle Paulie. As the game progressed, you become more powerful, but the power of the Darkness comes at an ultimate price. The life of a loved one.The Darkness was a decent game that did have problems. The story was interesting, but the problems laid more within the gameplay rather than anything else.

The Darkness 2 follows the same concept as the first, but the game has undergone a complete makeover in It's visual look and s.t.y.l.e. You continue the role of Jackie, and the Darkness, as you find a new enemy that wants your "gift" for his own personal gain. Jackie "played by Brian Bloom (plays Varric Tethras in Dragon Age 2)" must fight the temptation of giving up the Darkness in order to save himself. The demo starts of with Jackie (you) being tortured by an unknown group into willing giving up the Darkness to them. You are taking back to episodic past moment of Jackie's past for story related purposes, and the chance to experience what the game will have to offer. The gameplay and controls have much improved since the first given the game a better feel when playing. Unlike in the first game, the darkness (the two snake like heads on either side of the screen) feels more involved within the gameplay. This time you can grab enemies using the Darkness and finish them off with brutal finishing moves as well as you shot, which is pretty cool.

Aside from the first game giving me bad vibes thinking about it, I really enjoyed the demo of The Darkness 2. From what I've seen in the demo, the game is shaping up quite nicely. The new visual look looks really nice and the gameplay feel less frustrating then the first game. Jackie is played by Brian Bloom, which I did like (and was the first thing I noticed) because I personally didn't like Jackie's voice in the first. To sum it up, The Darkness 2 demo is actually not that bad. Looking forward to playing the full game release.

Unfortunately for you PlayStation gamers wanting to play the demo, the PS3 demo version is not out yet until sometime after today's date (hopefully later on day). The demo is out exclusively for live gold members on the XBOX at this time.

Editors' Verdict ~ Buy, Rent or Ignore? For me It's a rent, for two reasons. One; the first game never really had a lasting impression on my. Two; I've got my money saved for Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning, which is out on the same day.

TheDevilDwellerGAMES@blogspot.com

Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning First Impression Demo

Kingdoms of Amalur is an Acton RPG where you can use and combine magic and melee weapons as you fight against a higher enemy. As the demo starts, you must customise a character of your chosen using standered options such as the gender and ****of the character, face structure, hair type etc. Once you've customised your character, the game will begin. You play a character who has died in battle. Your body is taken and thrown in with the dead in a strange place. After a short while, you wake up confused as to how you're still alive with only one thought in mind... getting out.

Kingdom of Amalur is an action RPG that revolves around you gaining experience point to level up your character. Throughout the demo you'll encounter enemies to engage in battle. You start of naked with no weapons etc, but you gain a sword, armour, as well as a bow etc to defend yourself. The gameplay is pretty simplistic. You hit your enemies with your weapon until their health has depleted. You can also block oncoming attack by using shields, as well as dodge. You gain different experience points for different kills such as stealth kills etc. Your character can be equipped with different armour such as the head, torso, arms. legs and feet to better protect yourself against certain elements. You can also use two weapons simultaneously; primary and secondary weapons I.e. a sword, a bow, a staff etc. The gameplay as said is pretty simplistic. If you're a RPG gamer, you'll have no real problem understanding the gameplay. The game does have a slight learning curve, but nothing to confusing or off-putting to non RPG gamers looking to play their first RPG or whatever. You can also cast magic spells, as well as upgrade abilities and so forth when leveling up. The game also features currency (or Gold) to purchase iteas etc. Kingdom of Amalur also features a conversation feature like seen in Dragon Age, Mass Effect etc when players can indulge in conversations however they see fit from preset dialog options. The demo is pretty much you in a gloomy underground-ish enviroment, but as the get further in the demo, you'll find a vast world to explore. The demo is pretty lengthy, resulting in maybe even up to 30 minutes to an hour of play. It depends on you really how long the demo lasts. It's a great length to experience what the game will have to offer, but when the demo ends, It's quite gutting... To me anyway.

I myself am an RPG fan. I like Dragon Age, Skyrim, Mass Effect etc and i certainly enjoyed the demo. The only problem I had with the game is the camera view. The camera view tends to get tedious to control when in linear areas, and especially when you're fighting multiple enemies at the one time. As for the story, I can't really say much. What I saw in the demo was interesting enough, but I'll have to wait for the full game release to better judge. If you like RPG's and Acton games, you should certainly give the demo a try.
The demo is out on the PS3, XBOX 360, and PC now to download.

kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is released on the 10th of February.

Editors' verdict ~ Buy, Rent, or Ignore? For me, It's a buy.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 First Impression Demo

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is a sequel to Final Fantasy XIII released in 2010. It continues the story following a new character named Noel as he (and others) fights the struggle to save Cocoon against a powerful enemy.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 follows the same concept as Final Fantasy XIII in terms of game-play. Whilst the game-play is indeed similar to the first, Final Fantasy XIII-2 features some new added aspects to the game-play. One of those aspects is the ability to jump whenever you want, unlike Final Fantasy XIII where you could only jump at key moments in the environment. Another added features is a quick time events sequence where you'll need to press the right corresponding buttons that pop up on the screen to achieve powerful attacks during battles. Random battles follows the same aspects as it's predecessor before it; you must chain together a series of attacks i.e. Commando, Ravager etc, to fill up your enemies gauge meter so you can sink in some serious damage. Unfortunately, the random battles go on longer than they should, which can make the battles feel slightly boring. Much like in Final Fantasy XIII, the feature to Auto-Attack is also there. This features allows the computer to perform pre-set attacks that are better suited against enemies you are facing. This feature again can make the battles feel slightly boring repeating and pressing the same button over again.

A side from the rather simplistic game-play, Final Fantasy XIII-2 is a very impressive looking game with superb special effects.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 sadly is a game i will not purchase, but most likely rent instead. I've bought all previous Final Fantasy games before this (including Final Fantasy X-2, which was a disappointment), but i will not be making the same mistake again.

8. Rage
7
. Dragon Age 2
6. Dues Ex: Human
Revolution

5. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
4. Batman: Arkman City
3. Portal 2
2. Dark Souls

--------------------------------------------------

1. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a rich world filled with great side quests, outstanding game-play and a well developed story. The game does suffer from technical problems, but that didn't stop my from really enjoying the game. Overall it's a fantastic game, and my best game of 2011 :)

Here's to another year :)

What's your best game of the year?

My Top 10 Games of the Year 2011

Top 10 Games of the Year

Hey guys and welcome to my top ten games of the year. It really has been an exciting year, and yet again i find myself struggling to pick my best game of the year due to a good handful of games. After careful thought, and many hours of recapping, i'm finally done. So without further adieu, here is my top ten games... of 2011.

(In order of release date)

Dragon Age 2

Released in March for the PS3, XBOX 360, PC and MAC

Dragon Age 2 is an RPG game developed by Bioware (Mass Effect - Star Wars: The Old Republic). With the unfortunate strip down in game-play from the previous installment, Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2 is a faster paced action role playing game that tells a great story. The plot doesn't necessary continue from Origins, but you do meet some old faces fan will recognise. Dragon Age 2 isn't better than Dragon Age: Origins in my eyes, but it's still a pretty great game nonetheless... hens why it's in my top 10 of the year.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Portal 2

Released in April for the PS3, XBOX 360, PC and MAC

Portal 2 is a great game playing solo or co-op. It's a lot of fun and the puzzles are challenging. It's funny too :)
The first Portal is unique and Portal 2 continues the uniqueness to the next level.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Outland

Released in June for the PS3 and XBOX 360

Outland is a tricentennial side scrolling game that features great gameplay elements. The aim of the game is to move through each world switching between two different colours (blue or red) in order to to pass through challenging environmental puzzles. It can be frustrating but it's definitely a fun game, and definitely the best arcade game i've played this year.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Released in August for the PS3, XBOX 360, PC and MAC

Deus Ex was one of my most anticipated games of the year. The game took me a while to actually like due to it's controls. Deus Ex tells a rather interesting story about humanity adapting to changes and the corruption of power. The game-play is very good with great use of stealth elements. The boss fights on the other hand where mediocre, which actually made me hate the game at times. After finishing the game, i can honestly say, superb job... just a few flaws though.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Rage

Released in October for the PS3, XBOX 360 and PC

Rage reminds me of Borderland, with i like very much. It's an first person shooter that feels like a role playing game... without the RPG elements. You don't level up or anything, but the game is big. The best thing about Rage is the visuals and animations. Set in a post-apocalyptic world in the future, you wake up to find the world has turned to sh*t, and you must fight your way through bandits and deranged creatures to survive. The plot isn't exactly great or interesting, but the game is indeed fun, and i enjoyed it.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Dark Souls

Released in October for the PS3 and XBOX 360

Dark Souls is a game that will not go easy on you. It requires a lot of patients to get far, and it's a challenging game (the most challenging game i've played this year), that requires you to think before you act. Following the same principles as Demon's Souls, Dark Souls is indeed a fantastic game, that requires a lot of time to play.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Batman: Arkham City

Released in October for the PS3, XBOX 360 and PC

You play Batman (do i need to say more :P). Arkham City is the continuation of Arkham Asylum. You play Batman as you fights ot save the people of Gohem City, from the deranged criminals that have excepted for Arkham Asylum. The game-play is very great and the battles are awesome. Batman does have a few flaws here and there, but that doesn't stop it from being an awesome game.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

Released November for the PS3

Uncharted 3 continues the adventures of Nathan Drake. Whilst not better than Uncharted 2, the story reveals more about Drake and Sully's relationship. The cinematic moments are sublime and extremely entertaining. Unfortunately, Uncharted 3 inherits the same flaws from Uncharted 2 and 1. The gun play hasn't been improved, but the one-on-one battle combat is pretty cool. Uncharted 3 is a fantastic instalment to the series, but the game adds a few story related moments without explanation (possibly for another installment purpose). Nevertheless, Uncharted 3 is a superb game.

---------------------------------------------------------------

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Released November for the PS3, XBOX 360 and PC

From the creators of Oblivion comes Skyrim, a fantasy RPG where you use magic and melee weapons to fight your enemies... and dragons. Skyrim does suffer from glitches and technical problems but, it is indeed a fantastic game. Depending on the way you play the game, your abilities with grow depending on what you use most; light melee weapons, heavy melee weapons, magic, alchemy etc. The game-play is very, VERY good and the music score is fantastic.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Rayman: Origins

Released in November for the PS3, XBOX 360 and Nintendo Wii

Rayman: Origins is a traditional side scrolling game that goes back to the roots of how games where before... with slicker animation and great visuals. Rayman is a cute game with very pretty visuals and charming animation, but that not why it's in my top 10 of the year. Rayman is a break away for your typical games today; FPS's and overlay anticipated games. It's a game to remind gamers of one impotent aspect, having fun. Rayman: Origins is a fun game, and it's even more fun playing in co-op. It's quite simplistic going through each level A to B, but getting 100% is a real challenging.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Tomorrow i will revel my number one best game of the year, as well as put the remaining 9 games listed above in order of greatness.

Game of the Year 2011 - Recap Part 2

ANOTHER ONE BITS THE DUST!!!

Hello fellow game-spotters, welcome to another New Year (HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!).
2011 has certainly been an interesting year for games. The year has brought up some exciting conclusions, a few great newcomers, and interesting ideas. Like every other year previous to this, i've also experienced some disappointing games that i was so looking forward to.
Unfortunately, i didn't have time to make my "Game of the Year" blog as i did last year for 2010, so this year i'm just going to keep it simple at state my top 10 games of the year, following up to my number one.
To start the blog off, today, i'm going to recap the games i've played throughout the year; games i enjoyed, games i didn't enjoy, and the ones that disappointed me. Tomorrow i'll post my top 10 games of the year, then following to my best game of the year 2011 the day after.

Games that didn't make "My game of the Year Nomination List"

L.A. Noire

Released in May for the PS3 and XBOX 360

L.A. Noire is a sand box(ish) detective game from RockStar Games where you must work you're way up to detecting by solving crimes and interrogateing people based on their facial expressions. A.L. Noire features some really nice ideas. Unfortunately the story, to me, just didn't grab me, and the interrogations scenes what a bit one sided. It's a great game, no doubt about that, with really good game-play ideas. It just felt slightly rushed at times.

-------------------------------------------------------------

InFamous 2

Released in June exclusively for the PS3

Infamous 2 follows up from Sucker Punch's previous installment back in 2009. Infamous 2 improves most of the previous game's flaws adding most cool powers and abilities. It's a fun game, but to me, it's not better than the firsts story.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Red Faction: Armageddon

Released in June for the PS3, XBOX 360 and PC

Red Faction: Armageddon follows the same concept as Red Faction Guerrilla, without the sand box elements. It's an A to B traditional action shooter, and it's a good one at that. The game-play is extremely fun and enjoyable. The story and characters aren't as well developed, but still i enjoyed the game very much.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Alice: Madness Returns

Released in June for the PS3, XBOX 360 and PC

Sequel to the year 2000 PC game, American McGee's Alice, Alice returns to Wonderland in this disturbing version of Alice in Wonderland. It's a simplistic hack and slash game with a few minor puzzle solving. Alice: Madness Returns tells a disturbing story of Alice as her mind slowly breaks to nothing, and Wonderland becomes threatened by a new enemy. I personally liked this game, but it did have it's faults. It's far from being a perfect game, but that ok because, it's doesn't need to be perfect.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Duke Nukem Forever

Released in June for the PS3, PS2, XBOX 360, XBOX, PC, and MAC

Duke Nukem Forever is the long awaited... disappointment. Having been in development for so long, Duke Nukem Forever is an outdated game that really has nothing going for it. It's actually really hard to state one good point about this game other than throwing turd at bad guys, with is what this is game is... turd!

-------------------------------------------------------------

Shadows of the Damned

Released in June for the PS3 and XBOX 360

Shadows of the Damned is a 3rd person action shooter that doesn't take itself to seriously with it's plot. It's a ridicules story, which actually adds to the games uniqueness. The game take the piss out of male sexualy desieres, and does it really well. Adding reference from old games and films, Shadows of the Damned is an enjoyable game, with a decent yet fun game-play... and a kick ass soundtrack.

-------------------------------------------------------------

F.E.A.R. 3

Released in June for the PS3, XBOX 360 and PC

F.E.A.R. 3 continues the story of the F.E.A.R. series. You play Point Man and Paxton Fettel (going through each of the character campaigns separately or through in co-op) as they set out to accomplish their own goals. F.E.A.R. 3 isn't the best of the series, nor is it the scariest, but i did enjoy it... for what it was worth anyway.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Resistance 3

Released September exclusively for the PS3

Resistance 3 doesn't necessary continue the main plot from the 2nd game. The plot tells the story of a new characters trying to survive in amongst the on going battle against the Chimeran. The story isn't really in depth, but the overall game-play is indeed very fun and satisfying. And the online mulitplayer is rather fun too.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Gears of War 3

Released September exclusively for the XBOX 360

Gears of War 3 is the conclusion to the struggle against the extermination of humanity. The end of the series is finally here, and it goes out with a rather big bang.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Ico & Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection

Released September for the PS3

Ico & Shadow of the Colossus is the HD re-released of Fumito Ueda's 2002 and 2006 hit games, ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, both released on the PS2. The game is beautiful and utterly fantastic. Both the games of course can't be nominated for game of the year because they're old games, but they're both fantastic indeed. Even more so in glorious HD.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Battlefield 3

Released Octobor for the PS3, XBOX 360 and PC

Battlefield 3 is a modern shooter that tells a rather dull story. The single player campaign i found rather disappointing, but the online multiplayer is indeed one of the best out there.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Halo: Anniversary

Released November for the XBOX 360

Halo: Anniversary is the re-released of Bungie's c.l.a.s.s.i.c 2002 XBOX release, Halo: Combat Evolved... in HD! This is a great game and a fantastic walk down memory lane. This version does have a few flaws, but it's awesome still.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Assassin's Creed: Revelations

Released November for the PS3, XBOX 360 and PC

Assassin's Creed: Revelations continues the story from where Brotherhood left off. The plot is even more confusing and adds more unanswered questions, but it's still a pretty good game to play... despite it's flaws.
