Final Fantasy XIII-2 First Impression Demo

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is a sequel to Final Fantasy XIII released in 2010. It continues the story following a new character named Noel as he (and others) fights the struggle to save Cocoon against a powerful enemy.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 follows the same concept as Final Fantasy XIII in terms of game-play. Whilst the game-play is indeed similar to the first, Final Fantasy XIII-2 features some new added aspects to the game-play. One of those aspects is the ability to jump whenever you want, unlike Final Fantasy XIII where you could only jump at key moments in the environment. Another added features is a quick time events sequence where you'll need to press the right corresponding buttons that pop up on the screen to achieve powerful attacks during battles. Random battles follows the same aspects as it's predecessor before it; you must chain together a series of attacks i.e. Commando, Ravager etc, to fill up your enemies gauge meter so you can sink in some serious damage. Unfortunately, the random battles go on longer than they should, which can make the battles feel slightly boring. Much like in Final Fantasy XIII, the feature to Auto-Attack is also there. This features allows the computer to perform pre-set attacks that are better suited against enemies you are facing. This feature again can make the battles feel slightly boring repeating and pressing the same button over again.

A side from the rather simplistic game-play, Final Fantasy XIII-2 is a very impressive looking game with superb special effects.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 sadly is a game i will not purchase, but most likely rent instead. I've bought all previous Final Fantasy games before this (including Final Fantasy X-2, which was a disappointment), but i will not be making the same mistake again.
