While women don't normally make it into games without being heavily sexualised with a perfect body and large breasts, the same is often true of men (not the large breasts bit). The fact is people will prefer to play good looking characters. Women are often portrayed as strong characters in games. Examples of this are Lara Croft and the Uncharted series. Even Bayonetta was a strong female character, although the game's message fell down in other areas. I believe the objectification of women in games is not the problem it is made out to be. There are problems, however those problems will sort themselves out on their own, just as they do in the wider world.

Having played Demon Souls, I would advise against Dark Souls unless your absolutely sure you are up for the challenge. Dark Souls will require a large amount of patience and if your not looking for a challenge it's difficult to the extent to stop being fun.
