MMO's To Be Dumbed UP TOO?

Due to the constant simplification of once complicated and realistic games like Automobile, Flight, Fighter Aircraft I figured I get into MMO's somewhat of a child of the great RPG's like Bard's Tale, single player fantasy game in which you lead a 6 man party through a perilous journey etc. Any how I always enjoyed such games as Bards Tale (the Original) to recent Never Winter Nights I figured MMO's would be a great place one could still enjoy the craft of a well designed game for a nice lil escape. How ever it seems I may have jumped into this genre a bit too late.

I am really quite new to the whole mmo thing as I played WoW for maybe 3 months and have just recently decided to not resubscribe to Warhammer online which I had been playn since beta. Any how this Warhammer Online was very good and I highly enjoyed it. But as of recently it has been lacking the substance of, well that which any mmo ought to have which is a depth of Story or Myth it has greatly become Grind, grind, grind, grind. If your not grinding for RP then your grinding for Dark Promise gear which you needed a greater warding to even be in that dungeon with a party of 6. Well then cam the long awaited Patch "1.3" with the much anticipated Land of the Dead,a few more PQ's and some more Boss encounters the gear that drops from this new land is way better that the Dark Promise gear and yet you only need greater warding to get it. What Garbage! I have toons at lvl 60 + and noobs can get greater warded and get as good of gear as my toons! With all the new bogus dumb up changes of lately a total noob can come along create a new character and within a month or so be Lvl 40 and wearing all the gear from land of the dead, which again is on par with Warlord gear which only rp lvl 60 or higher can wear. Thanks Mythic for taking one of last bastions of complex gaming and Dumbing them up. Not to mention Mythic hasn't even attempted to fix several bugs that have existed since release and would rather introduce more candy or change characters according to the whims of people who cry the loudest.

Really Lets just put a big red Easy button on everything. I hear that Microsoft is making a new flight sim and it comes with its own one button controller. I wish Developers would stop making every game so accessable and easy. what happened to the learning curve?

Seriously though I have pre ordered Aion and have been playing on the Closed beta. I am also considering playing something like EQ2 or something. Hmmm.

Quality of Games and of Movies going downward

The video game industry is making more money than Hollywood with that movie companies have been putting their hand in making games. The thing is that there are only a handful of truly great movies per year and sometimes maybe none. Most movies are full of meaningless action, lack of a compelling story, and terrible cinematography. Games as of the last few years have also lost their depth and inspiration. Two great examples are Ghost Recon, and Counter-Strike. Ghost Recon which came out like 5 years ago and is probably one of the best games ever was followed up with a couple expansions that gave up more maps and missions. These maps were robust maybe too robust but, (better to have and want not than to not have and want) GR's contemporaries have done nothing but take away from the original and add some lighting and shading effects. For example, in GR you could pick your team mates and change their stats as they survived and completed each mission they would also be awarded medals like a purple heart or a Star of Courage for your performance. GR2 and 3 take this out. Also, in GR you could open doors and do building entry and counter-terrorism not happening in GR2 or 3. If you were going to be a sniper in GR ya wore a Ghillie suit and could easily hide in some shrubs or woods not in GR2 or 3. In GR in order to overcome an enemy force you had to either ambush or use superior tactics not merely run and gun which is the equivalent of button mashing. While on the other hand the contemporaries of Ghost Recon dumbed up shadows of the original.
Likewise many games try to imitate the greats but fall way short. My other gripe is the interface for joining multiplayer games whether on console or PC has really turned to crap. Counter-Strike was perfect why cant multiplayer games be modeled after this? I played COD 3 and was sorely let down in that the multiplayer is crap and the maps are worthless as is the inter-face for getting to play online. Why can’t we pick the hosted game we want to join? Why finally add vehicles but make maps with tight constraining paths? ARGGGG!
Battlefield 2 on PC was near perfect aside from the constant annoyance of bugs and glitches. I just mean to say I wish that they could make sequels actually better. It is like they think all gamers are idiots and will just buy and play anything they are making games more and more that can be beat in 10 – 15 hours and lack the substance of a story or the depth of maps and game play mechanics that compel one to play over and over again.
