UT3 is only the second time i've been bothered completing the single player mode. I think they should just remove the sinlge player element and create more content for instant action/mulitplayer.zeus_gb
I like the single player because it has some of the best bot-based deathmatching around for when you don't want to play online, it's the fact that they tried to turn it into something it isn't that bothers me.

Call me an UT purist but I really don't like how they changed the single player around. I liked the UT series for its awesome, fast-paced gameplay, cool maps and great weapons set, not for the story mode. I enjoyed being able to know that I was a space-age gladiator who was fighting in a tournament and that I didn't need to think about it, I just needed to blow people to bits with a well-placed flak cannon round. I wouldn't have been so opposed to a change in the story if it weren't for the fact that the story that Epic added in was just stupid and shallow. It didn't have much more depth than the actual story of the first games and the voice acting was poorly done to the point of being annoying. And who the hell are these people on this planet that I have never heard of before? Why should I care? The story is just barely connected to the UT storyline anyhow. I still loved UT3 and felt that it did bring more of that awesome UT gameplay but the story just ruined one of the best parts of any UT game.

If this were some other big RTS game from some other big company I would probably be more inclined to think that a console port was in order but, then again, this is Blizzard we're talking about. Blizzard hasn't made a console game or even ported a PC game to consoles for years. Their last console game, Starcraft Ghost, failed to make it to store shelves even and pretty much caused the complete removal of their console teams. Blizzard knows that the PC is where their games belong. The vast majority of console users are morons (yes, it's the truth) and won't even buy console RTS games. PC RTS games sell, console ones don't. The last game they did port was the original Starcraft and it failed pretty badly on the N64 due to the fact that RTS games just don't belong on the consoles. The people who are going to play Starcraft 2 are PC people. Thug_Pikachu proved that lots of console "gamers" don't even know what Starcraft is (no, not you folks who visit system wars, you know what it is because you actually know a little about games and probably even played it). Gamers who may not play on PC probably know what Starcraft is but the vast majority of the 360 fanbase was either to busy pretending to be cool by not playing games in junior high or wasn't even born yet or was to young to play games when Starcraft was actually popular. Blizzard has also stated over and over again that the game isn't being made on consoles. Blizzard makes PC games that stay on the PC and it is extremely likely that it will be this way with SC2.

I'm pretty sure that they didn't mean anything by it. After all, some poor homeless people act like that when they see you carrying food so...

Let's not forget that these games can all be played on a $500-600 machine people. PC gaming is affordable for anyone so long as you can live with turning down the settings and only upgrade every 2-3 years. Even at medium settings most PC games look just as good (if not better) than their console counterparts.

The single player portion in Halo 3 just shows how lazy Bungie is. Short, boring and uneventful. There wasn't a single moment in Halo 3 that really made me go "wow, that was damn cool". In CoD4 I can think of several moments where I was really impressed. Call of Duty 4 was short but it was the best campaign mode Infinity Ward has ever done, right up there with the original CoD (still the best CoD though).

I think my 360 and Wii are great and play them often but I highly doubt that anything will ever take me away from my beloved PC for more than a little while.

[QUOTE="Number_1_Gamer"]I want to hear, in-depth, your proposed control scheme for the game on a "standard controller". You must account for EVERY bit of control functionality that the nunchuck/wiimote use. No "I would get rid of this", because that would make it a completely different game.Koalakommander

I'm 26 stars in and the motion control hasn't really wowed me yet. At least it feels natural, cept for the ray surfing, my arm nearly fell off.

Ray surfing is the most pathetic, poorly implemented minigame in any Mario title ever. Other than that I love the motion sensing.

There is no such thing as console exclusitivity. It does not exist. If you can play it more than one system then it isn't exclusive; it's that simple.

I didn't find it surprising that Halo 3 didn't win anything due to the fact that it was outshined by far better games in every category.
