what happened to rayman?

I never understood the problem people had with rayman.

I love rayman. Ok so love is a strong word. but I very much like him. The big complaint was that he had no character. But from what I could see he had plenty.

Rayman. What must but the most ported game in modern history . Well of the cd generation anyway.

It's not exactly a groundbreaking game. But even for its time it looked lovely. The world full of colour and charcter.

Rayman 2. One of the greatest 3d platformers ever formed. Better before it was ported to ps and ps2 and given English voices mind, it had far more charm without them.

The game was deep, inventive, fun and created a full world. It even stepped up in the music. A highlight is the 1st level, after rayman meets glowboxes kids, he turns a corner into a small grassy area with butterflies and a small section of wall to climb. The music seamlessly changes from one score to another mid level.

I loved this and it remains a highlight of the best of ubisoft games. Beyond good and evil and its first monster encounter is also a highlight.

Rayman 3 was not exactly a highlight. Its attempts at self satire and again the English speech brought its charms down. It was still an ok game, and had its inventive moments. But its charm had gone.

Now rayman is just an all but forgotten character. With each further instalment of the rabbid games rayman becomes more tainted and less fun.

I would love to see a new 3d rayman platformer, a new adventure in raymans world and with its many characters. One that expands upon it and introduces more. I hope there's a new rayman, one more like rayman 2 then any other rayman. But any 3d platformer would be a good start..
