Nintendo: DSi

So the Nintendo DSi arrived in the US on April 5, 2009. I have no idea why, but it has been selling like hotcakes. I have no desire for it whatsoever. I would rather get the Nintendo DS: Lite.

The DS Lite has a Game Boy: Advance cartridge slot, and is only $130 compared to the DSi's $180 price point. I have no idea why people would want to pay $50 more for the DSi. The DSi is the exact same gaming system as the DS Lite. The only significant differences are the loss of the GBA cartridge slot, the addition of two cameras, and the addition of a music player.

I would not pay fifty bucks extra for a camera and play around with pictures. I already have a camera, and other people have their phones. What's the point of buying it? Also, the DS Lite actually looks much nicer because it has a chrome finish, while the DSi is just plastic (to prevent fingerprint smudging). I'll just wait for the DS Lite's price to drop, then buy it. I don't care about the DSi.

Also, this makes me wonder when the next Nintendo handheld system will be released. The DS came out three and a half years after the GBA, and it has been four and a half years since the DS came out. I think a new system will be released around Spring 2010.

Console Wars

I think I made a poor decision in getting the Xbox 360. I should have gotten the 160 GB PlayStation 3 ($500, probably will get a price cut soon). There are many reasons why I made a poor decision:

1. I was too much ina hurry to get the Xbox 360 last October (just to save about $70). I could have waited to see which system would end up winning the console war, since I'm barely allowed to even play games in the first place. I rushed a decion just for about 50 hours of fun so far.

2. The PS3 uses Blu-Ray discs, which hold many times more memory than the 360's DVD discs. And it's not just a small statistic. The PS3's exclusive games, such as Metal Gear Solid 4 have so much information in them, that they cannot be stored in a 360 game. That is extremely limiting, and means that the 360 has passed its prime, and really will not be able to get any better than the level it is at right now, while the PS3 is like a kid full of potential to grow.

3. The PS3 is starting to get much better exclusives (Killzone 2, Uncharted series, Resistance series, MotorStorm series, Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBigPlanet, MLB 09: The Show, God of War 3, Gran Turismo 5, and inFamous) than the 360 (Star Ocean: The lst Hope, Fable 2, Halo series, Fable 2, Gears of War series, Mass Effect series, Forza Motorsport, and Braid).

4. The 360 has the RRoD. End of story. It's non-stop fear of whether or not this is the last time your 360 works. The PS3 has none of that pull-ish.

5. The PS3 has FREE, WIRELESS online play, while the 360 has $50 a year, wired ($100 to switch to wireless) online play. That is unacceptable. Because of this, I still can't play the 360 online (can't plug the included ethernet cable into anything, since the modem is across the house). The only thing better is that Xbox Live is much better than PlayStation Online, but I'm really never going to download anything, such as games, content, or movies, and Achievement Points (but the PS3 has copied the Achievement with their trophies, so that's also no longer a factor).

After looking at all of this, I think that the PS3 is the better deal. *Sigh* Right when I got a 360. Of course, that doesn't mean I hate our Xbox 360: Elite. It still rocks, and has some incredible games. I will love it until the very end (when it dies).

Xbox 360

The Xbox 360 is the greatest gaming system in the world. I've only played three games (LEGO Indiana Jones, Kung Fu Panda, and Need for Speed: Carbon). They're really fun. Hopefully, when I go to GameSpot later, I'll be able to get Call of Duty 2 (yes, I only buy cheap, used games) for $10 used.

However, I don't want to forget about the original Xbox I have. I have like 50 games for it, so it's just a waste of money and time if I stop playing it.

I Got a Zephyr

I knew it would happen. Why me? I got the 360 for Christmas, and my parents said I couldn't take it to college. That means I have a year and a half with it. They gave me my money back. What the **** are they going to do with it? Use it as a heater? Anyways, that's not even the worst part. I got a piece of junk. I got a Zephyr. How could I have gotten a Zephyr? The model shouldn't even exist anymore. I could have gotten a Jasper, or at least a Falcon model. Please Lord, let me not get the RRoD.

That all being said, the Xbox 360 is the greatest system ever. It's so fun. I can't do Xbox Live yet, because I don't have an ethernet cable long enough to reach my router, but the games are so fun, as well as Achievement Points and GamerScore.

"Wait Until Christmas or After"

My parents just told me that I'm not getting my Xbox 360: Elite until at least Christmas. That means I'm paying $368 for my only Christmas present. I've never heard of such cheap@** rich people in my life.

I have to wait until near the end of winter break to get the 360. And since I'm only allowed to play video games during Summer and Winter Breaks, that means I get to play it about three times, then wait half a year. There's $368 well spent. All I know is, the 360 had better be worth it. I will not tolerate the RRoD. I will cry if it happens.

So Many Problems

*Sigh*. There are so many problems with the Xbox 360. I've never heard so many complaints about one machine. It's perfect, yet trash at the same time. Disc-scratching, the Red Ring of Death, noisiness, general lack of response... It could go on. Hopefully, there won't be any problems with mine. Please Lord, let it be flawless...

It Arrived

The Elite came in on Thursday (it's Monday now). I opened the box, but I was just getting to set up the 360 when my parents took it away. What the f? I didn't do anything wrong. They just hate it when my brother or I am happy. I'd better get it back. I've been waiting for over three years to get the 360, and when I finally do get it, it's just sitting somewhere in my parents' room. My parents will probably give back the 360 on Christmas as a "present". Cheapos.

Jasper

I just found out that a new model came out for the 360: the Jasper. It possibly fixed the Red Ring of Death for the 360. The previous model, Falcon, still has RRoD problems. Please let the 360 I ordered be a Jasper. I can't afford to have a broken 360; I spent every penny I own on it.

Games

I'm getting an Xbox 360: Elite soon. I ordered it online last Friday (Black Friday). On Dell.com, all hardware was 20% off, giving me a great deal (about $360, coinkydink?). It should be coming soon, although my parents, trying to save money, will probably hide it when it comes in the mail, and give it to me as a Christmas present, even though I payed for that *bleep*. Oh well, I have an Xbox right now, and a very good condition backup in case my first one breaks. I also have a Game Boy: Color and a Game Boy: Advance (not SP). I don't use my computer for games, although I should. I have about 50 Xbox games, and 15 Game Boy games. I'm not rich. All my games were about $4 each used at GameStop. I've only spent more than $15 for a game about 5 times (Halo 3, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, wait, that's all...). So never mind, I've spent more than $15 only twice.

Um, that's all for now, folks?
