Although I hate going with the crowd, Half-Life 2 is universally nominated the best PC game so far for good reason. It is paced to perfection, offers FPS storytelling like no other game, and (to my eyes at least!) still holds up immersive graphics.

It's one game I've happily played through many (two!) times.

Even if you don't like FPS, I think you might like Half-Life 2.
