Don't you just love the fact that when you switch on your 'fat' Ps3 and see this error connecting problem, the first thing you do is fire up the PC, search the forums and read the most dazzling few words to hit your worried little eyes....'dont turn your PS3 on until a fix is up'. Thanks for the early warning. But also reading on forums, are these 'doomsday has happened for the 'fat' PS3' owners. It must be fixable and to worry about it is a little pre-mature. Seems like when our precious PS3 hits a problem, some peoples life get's turned upside down.

No he's right. Mines doing the same thing, I can play DVD films and ps2 games, but swap over to a ps3 disc or Blu-ray film and it can't read the disc. Phoned Sony today and the fella on the phone said the lasers alignment have probably gone faulty and a courier will pick it up tomorrow, take it to Sony's repair centre and I'll have it back within two weeks. Plus they add on another three months warranty which is pretty cool of Sony. If it still goes wrong within that period, they'll send me a new ps3. I've heard a lot of people having problems with Sony's customer service, but for me they have been triple A. First ps3 died before Christmas (YLoD), was nearly two months over warranty and they sent me a refurb ps3 with three months warranty. And now this one has a laser issue and they giving me another three months. So you guys having problems, just phone Sony for help as their is nothing you can do for it if it stops reading blu-ray discs. You might be lucky if the lens is just dirty and it just needs a blu-ray lens cleaner, but if it's alignment is off, you are stuffed.

Call SONY a.s.a.p.

I had the dreaded YLoD a few days before xmas and by new years eve, i had a refurb 60gb ps3.

But guess what?.........I now have to send this refurb back as the blu-ray drive has stopped reading discs.

Good of SONY to give me a refurb even though my warranty had expired AND add three months warranty on the swap, but with 60gb ps3's seeming to be quite a problem now, i guess swapping another 60 gb for this refurb 60gb, wont make me feel any more secure.

COD5 was being played when the first ps3 brokedown and COD4 was the last game i played on the refurb until the blu-ray drive failed........very strange!

You see war....whats it good for?

Well now i'm completely stuffed. Just turned it on again to try different 'hopeful' methods, and now it's not even reading ANY format discs, so it's back to Sony.

Even more gutted as i had brought Killzone 2 yesterday also, only to get home and find out its not reading discs.

I think i must be cursed as the wife brought me LBP for christmas, only to find the machine having a fit on the 23rd Dec and getting the YLoD.

Coinicidence or not, COD5 was being played at the time of the first ps3 death and the last game i played before this bluray drive problem was a game i havent played for AGES......COD4!

Conspiracy?

I'm having kinda the same trouble.

This is a refurb ps3, as my first ps3 got the YLoD just before christmas day. Too give Sony credit though, the machine was a month and a half over warranty and they gave me a refurb with 3 months warranty. Lucky they did as i have a feeling the machine is going to be sent back.

The problem started yesterday

Put a blu-ray disc game in, and the game disc icon wont show on the xmb.

Take the game out and put in a movie DVD or Playstation 2 game in and it works fine.

Eject disc and try a ps3 game in again and....wait a minute...the icon comes up! Woohoo!

Start the game and after the playstation 3 logo pops up....black screen....couple of flickers and the game goes back to the xmb screen with an error screen.....damn it.

The missus is out this afternoon to get a blu-ray lens cleaning disc which i still havent got much hope for, but its worth a go.

Does the ps3 have two lasers in the drive?, like a dvd and separate blu-ray laser?

I just cant understand why it just stopped working.

Hi guys.

Anyone having trouble since the latest version update in charging their controllers?

The PS3 tells me too connect the usb lead in, but when connected the controller doesnt go into charging mode.

The LED stand thats plugged in works, the additional fan works, but the controllers dont.

I've tried taking the stand and fan out and connecting the usb charging lead, but still nothing.

I now have to charge them through the PC, but the PS3 used to always charge them before, it seems, the latest version update.

Any other person having probs or even any knowledge of the problem?

Is it illegal?

Lots of people seem to do it and i havent read any forums about Sony not liking the idea, but it seems the US get the best stuff!

I want to download Uncharted, seeing as the region lock has been fixed and am itching to open an account.

Also......Twisted Metal 2 is available for download??? Lucky, lucky b******s!!

Whens it coming to the UK store?

Who cares if 2 or 3 people have started lining up already....them people are as thick as s*** in my eyes!

Are people's live's that sad and pathetic, that the only thing that matters, is to get a console AS SOON as its released?

Just pre-order the damn thing or just go to the shop the next day and buy one. If there sold out, then phone up later that week and ask if theres any in stock!

Jesus! who knows they might line up for 3 days, go in shop, purchase one, leave shop and in all their orgasmic glory, step into the road and get mowed down by a bloody bus!

I cant wait to get a PS3, but i'll be ****ed if i'm gonna queue outside a shop for a quick buzz

No, the computer runs programs but not those (and hopefully not other) games.
Starting to think its a direct x problem or graphic card driver issue even though  i have the latest updates.
Seems to be the 3d games, but that still dos not explain why COD2 multiplayer would work. Even Counterstike: Source works and Half Life 2 except for that crashes when a bit of ambient music kicks in like the G-Man intro screen....but thats a sound issue....or a steam issue.

Done all that and it still wont work.
Theres something conflicting or denying the .exe from accessing. Strange as it will load up the multiplayer version of Call Of Duty 2, but not the single player!
