Ok so I've spent a lot of time on the forums and there have been numerous topics concerning Nintendo and how it is apparently "turning it's back on the hardcore gamer". These statements always confuse me, not because I necessarily think that it is an incorrect statement, but because of the reasons why people believe this. It seems that when this discussion is brought up people site the removal of "Wavedashing" from the Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and the removal of "Snaking" from Mario Kart Wii. So finally i get to my point... "Snaking" and "Wavedashing" were not intended to be part of their respective games both "techniques" are exploits of the games design. The removal of these exploits is supposed to level the playing field online. Which brings me to my next point; Since when is the "Hardcore" gaming crowd so afraid of a little competition? If you are so worried about retaining your hardcore status then it looks like you might have to do it the old fashioned way... You might just have to take the time to develop skill legitimately instead of looking for an exploit that automatically makes you better than a large percentage of less informed gamers... You might have to actually take the time to learn all the turns and how best to take them in a Mario Kart course, or learn which of your attacks in Smash Bros. has the highest priority or widest hit box... Having said all that... If the all that the hardcore crowd is going to do is piss and moan whenever Nintendo tries to up the quality of its games by fixing glaring balance issues in their most popular franchises, then I'm not sure that Nintendo should waste their time and effort catering to such an unappreciative and ungrateful audience. Discussion???
