This is my favorite game from last gen and one of my favorites of all time. As smeone else said, this game deserved much more attention than what it got. I was truly hoping it would be the start of real world physics in every game, but unfortunately... other developers suck! LoL. The keep makng the sa,e games over and ver and over, where you just shoot every enemy in the face. Where this game allowed you to take out a buildings support, walk away to a nearby hill and watch as the building creaked, crumbled and gave way to its own weight, therefore crushing the enemies below. Unlike other games ‘destruction’, this used real world physics and thousands of parts for every object to accomplish its realistic destruction. Unlike games Battlefield that used pre-baked, predetermined break points that crumbled the same every time.
Which is the beauty of this game... objects just dont explode into a million pieces, they have true physical properties and their destruction is calculted in real time based on them. So takng out a single support wouldnt necessarily make anything fall, though if it was done in such a way as to cause damage to surrounding joints... it may eventually(minutes or 10 minutes) fall or crumble under the weight of the floor above. Makng every enemy encounter a different experience, that you could use your envirnment against them and they could do the same to you.
The physics in the game, became a game in itself. As it made players want to experiment with different possibilities with different weapons and vehicles. Nothng more satisfying then taking out a few supports and watching a building creak and groan and finally give way(after 10 plus minutes), crushing enemies underneath. Or the same happening to you. I played the demo for over 100 hours before the games release, just playing with the physics. Such great times! Cant wait to play this in 4K on the X!
