I can assure you that if you have a nVidia 7 series you are bound to run into some problems. I am running a 7900 Go for my laptop and to put it bluntly it was a piece of crap (constant stuttering in almost every single game I tried to play). I thought it was just my computer until I downgraded to XP, smooth as silk now.ScudBuster

Well, my friend uses NVidia 7400 Go and he has no problem playing games. Maybe it's juz the NVidia 7900 Go or maybe there's a software incompatibility. Have you checked the NVidia driver upgrade? Sometimes unofficial patch is better like the Omega driver for ATI

in general it's best to wait for the first service pack before upgrading. there's no real benefit from getting the first release since games won't require it for a while.Ontain

I'd say better to wait till service pack 2. XP became very stable after the service pack 2. Anw, my friend played some old games like Age of Mythology and Unreal Tournament perfectly well on Vista. I'm not so sure about the other problem Vista have right now. But juz make sure that you have a very large RAM.
