This fall all these "new" Elites will already be outdone by the newer 360's. Thats because the new chips are supposedly coming this fall, according to CNET. MS could have SO very easily waited until the new chips come out to pull this little Elite stunt, but they knew that if they went ahead and sold it, then they could get buyers now, and then get some of those same buyers to buy again when the new chips come out thus gaining profits off of this minimal update to their console, because some people just HAVE to have the latest technology. So thanks MS for continuing to prove your greed and showing us how you feel about your customers. This whole post may sound anti-MS and fanboyish, but its not. Its just absolute BS that they keep pulling crap like this and people fall for it and then defend them. You cannot defend this, just a few months, THATS ALL, a few months is all they had to delay the release of the Elite, and then it would have been a true worthy upgrade.

Good for them, but it still doesn't seem right.  Let the current users upgrade, why is that such a bad thing.

Yea we will probably destroy poor Stanford's network. I know it already went down at least once since the new PS3 update.

Sunday Night Foldathon (S.N.F) event sunday night. Join In and Play Beyond

Not sure if its been posted, I didn't see it so here it is:

Fully community started and driven, Over at the official U.S. community site of PlayStation, member Xenokai posted about the up and coming event this weekend that involves the Folding@Home feature. If you're not familiar with this, it's actually a joint project by Stanford University and Sony that aims to research protein folding and misfolding in order to gain an understanding of how these are related to disease.

Anyway, the said event is dubbed as Sunday Night Foldathon (SNF), and here's how it goes: This Sunday night, March 25, all PS3 users are encouraged to turn on their systems and run the folding program. It could be anytime you want, even right before you go to Dreamland and you can just let the program run until you wake up in the morning. And that's it.

According to Xenokai, the purpose of this event is to let Sony, or Stanford University for that matter, know that their work and project is being appreciated and that the PS3 community is willing to help out. In simple terms, it's a "show of force" on the part of the community. One important thing to note is that SNF was conceptualized and is now being implemented purely by members of the community. Both Sony and Stanford have no hand on this whatsoever. Regardless, we know the two would be very thankful if this turns out to be a success.

More information on the event:

Also just to show how powerful the cell is, this project has been around since 2000 yet in just a few days the PS3 has already almost caught all Windows based PCs in power being alloted to the project. Here is the updated list:

That whole station is 360 biased. Hell they had a huge like 5 hour countdown release event for the 360, but no coverage on the actual night of the PS3 release. I never watch that channel anymore, they have completely ruined it.

GI is NOT the only ones to have this info, other sites do so its not a ******* April fools joke. Is it April anyone? NO, so all of these sites that are NOT magazines have no reason to be posting Aprils fools jokes on March 20th. If it was ONLY GI then I could see why people may think that, but its not, there are multiple other sites releasing this info.

I think someone at gi is laughing really hard now,....April foolslonghair72
They personally contacted some of these sources to tell them it is not a joke. So I think they are very serious. If it is a joke, then they took it way too far by actually contacting these sites personally to tell them its real.
