I'd say Killzone 2 had some of the best AI, they would set themselves up so it was near impossible to get around them. they used cover effectively and timed everything perfectly. I am strictly speaking about the Helghast though, the ISA AI were stupid and usually had me running battles alone.

No PSP? They got some games coming out this year.
