Hey, thanks everyone for giving your opinions and stuff on this.

I think I've come to the conclusion that between my PS2, DS, and PC--I should be fine for now on the RPG front. If and when the PS3 gets exclusive titles, I may end up buying one as well.

From what most people were saying, the 360 is great because it has so many WRPGs. Still, many of those RPGs are currently--or may soon be--available for the PC: Bioshock, Oblivion, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, etc. So I think it may be best just to wait it out some more and have fun with what I already have. :)

Console wise, it's currently the x360, just due to the depth of rpg content that is coming out this year.

Hand held, the DS is unstoppable.

Essentially:

Best SRPG - Ps3 Disgaea 3
Best JRPG - X360 One of many
Best WRPGe - Fable 2 (ps3 has no exclusive wrpg coming out this year)

Andrew_Xavier

Thanks. I'm pretty pleased with the selection of games for the DS, I've had much more fun with it than I did when I had a PSP. I just like having a console system too for things other than party games or getting 'fit'.

Alright, I wasn't sure I should post this in the game lineup thread-and I didn't see any other threads like this one when I searched, so here goes:

What system is or will be the best bet for finding exclusive RPGs?

Right now I have a DS, a PS2, a Wii, and a PC; so, what I would mainly like to hear is everyone's opinions on the 360 vs. the PS3 when it comes to just the RPG genre. I've loved Sony systems in the past mainly because of the huge selection of RPGs, but I'm rather disappointed with everything concerning the company and the current collection of games available for the PS3. Meanwhile, it seems like a lot of games for the Xbox are available for the PC, which would make buying a 360 sort of redundant. (For instance, I already own Mass Effect and Oblivion for the PC.)

Basically, I just want to hear everyone's opinions on which system is going to be the best bet for exclusive RPGs, or at least which system is going to have the most RPGs in general. I've searched the forums, and several other websites-but I thought I'd ask around here and see what kind of responses I could get.

Thanks in advance.

Shadow Hearts is one of my favorite RPG series. Covenant is a good RPG, although it may be an aquired taste. Final Fantasy VIII is not worth purchasing, not because it is a bad game--but because most stores will no longer take it in through trade-in. Radiata Stories is also a good RPG, although it is pretty cookie-cutter. It is similar to Star Ocean: till the end of time, battle-system wise. (although I like Radiata better than Star Ocean.)

Objective Ministries is an offshoot of Landover Baptist. It is a parody of evangelical Christianity, and is NOT real. However, it seems to have served its purpose in that it fooled ignorant people into believing its lies and fasle information...just like actual evanglical Christianity sometimes does.

I think you should go with FFX. I say this because it is generally more forgiving to new comers--AND it happens to be very cheap. So if you hate it, at least you didn't spend as much on it as FFXII.

I'm actually not much of a RE fan, but I do like the genre in general. I bought the DS version a while back and I think it is actually pretty good. It has some additional content not in the original, but it is mainly just a faithful port with the added bonus of mobility in the handheld format.

i know those, but there are new items in DP called power lens, which states "increases sp atk growth upon level up, but reduces speed, if u go to the battle tower, u can win those items, there is on for every stat, im pretty sure they alter ev's gained, but i dont know exactly how...rugalinfinity

Sorry, I misunderstood. Ok, as far as I know--for each of those items increase the EVs gained for thier specific stat by 4. Right now, I'm a bit foggy if, for instance, you have to fight a pokemon who gives Attk EVs to get the benefit of a Power Brace or if the Brace garuntees you the 4 EVs.

Where can i find:

Growlithe

Dratini

Beldum

elekid

anyone could answer these it would be great. ive already looked at seribii.net but no luck. i dont understand what they mean by swarm and some of them i just cant find like dratini (where is the waterfall?) and elekid i just cant run into him

Thetik

Ok, here is a quick run-down on the Pokemon you mentioned.

To catch a Growlithe in-game you will need to purchase a copy of Pokemon Fire Red for the GBA. Once you have that, you insert it into the GBA slot while playing your Pokemon Diamond/Pearl. Once you start up, Growlithe has a chance of appearing on either route 201 or 202. I've noticed that its appearence is somewhat rare, so you will probably want to take your time and bring some good balls to ensure the catch.

Dratini is easy because all don't need any type of GBA game or anything to catch it. It's rather hard to give exact directs to his location, however if you explore Mount Coronet enough you'll easily come across the spot where the waterfall is. It is one of the only areas with any water at all. Once you find it just use the Super Rod and it is a rather common find. (You don't actually have to be BEHIND the waterfall, just fish in the body of water near it.)

Beldum is a swarm, and since you stated that you don't understand that means--let me explain. Once you've beaten the Elite Four, you have the oppurnity to talk to your the rival of your opposite gender. If you're a boy, this would be Dawn. Dawn lives in Sandgem town, as does her younger sister. Once you find the house with her sister inside, simply talk to her. Once you speak to Dawn's sister, she will mention a pokemon and the route where you can find them. It is VERY difficult to find a specific pokemon this way, so you'll just have to go to her everyday until she mentions Beldum. When she does mention it, it will become available in the wild on Route 228. But remember, this is only after she explicityly mentions it--and you can't wait long after speaking to her to catch it.

Finally, to catch Elekid you have to follow a formula similar to the one I mentioned in regard to Growlithe. First, insert your Pokemon Fire Red into the GBA slot and travel to the Valley Windworks. Elekid will now have a small chance of appearing to you in this area. Now, and this is important, the only way to evolve an Electabuzz without outside help is to catch one in the wild that holds an item called the Electrizer. One Pokemon Diamond the chance to find a wild Elekid with this Electrizer is much higher than the chance of finding it in Pokemon Pearl. In other words, if you have your eyes set on an Electivire it will be much easier to find on Pokemon Diamond than Pearl.

Can ayone explain to me exactly what items like power lens and power brace do? how do they affect effort values?rugalinfinity

Well I'm not sure what you mean by Power Lens or Power Brace, however in the newest version there are two similar named items: The Scope Lens and the Macho Brace. The Scope Lens simply increases the critical-hit ratio of the pokemon holding it. It has no effect on Effort Values. The Macho Brace, however, is completely different. It does two things: It doubles the amount of EV your pokemon recieves in battle and it also slows down the pokemon holding it.

Here is a quick example of how a macho brace works. Floatsel is a pokemon who gives up 2 Evs for the Speed stat normally. However, if you were to defeat a Floatsel using a Pokemon with the Macho Brace equipped--he will gain 4 EVs in Speed instead of 2. The effects of Macho Brace are also shared by Pokemon in your party who hold an EXP. Share item. They will gain 1/2 of the Effort Values gained in the battle, regardless of who lands the finishing blow. In this case, a Pokemon with EXP. Share would gain 2 Speed EVs.
