God of War iii Freeze Glitch

I've been waiting to play God of War iii since it was released. At the weekend I got my hands on a copy and began my hack and slash blood-fuelled rage through Greek Mythology. And you know what?? It was flippin' awesome! I was really getting into it... but then... all of a sudden.. little glitches started creeping in. The lip sync started to go, small graphical errors began popping in and out, and then on a certain scene everything froze. I loaded up my previous saves and time and time again it froze in the same spot. This was not an error with the PS3.. that was still active.. it was a major flaw with the game!

I jumped onto Google and found out that quite a few others have experienced similar problems. There are little 'fixes' that people suggested, but unfortunately none of them worked for me.

After much trying, I have had to pack it in. I'm really surprised this is even an issue with such a big name game. It seems like a major bug that effects only some players/consoles. Loads of people were saying that this can be an issue when playing the game on a PS3 fat, but in my case I have a PS3 Slim 360GB.

I have never had this happen to me before with a game. Maybe it's slightly more disappointing because this is one of those mile a minute blood fuelled frenzy games which is quick to impress and pull you into the action... and now I'm without :( Sad days! I mean, in the big scheme of things it's no biggy. I can take up my time doing...well, anything else. But still... a bit gutting! God of War is one of the reasons I got a PS3.

Has this happened with anyone else with God of War iii, or any other game for that matter? Be good to have other people to sulk with ;)

Crimson Butterfly

I was giddy as a monkey's uncle to find out that some of my old xbox games work in my 360 console. I've spent the week playing the classic Japanese horror, Crimson Butterfly. I think this game is the sole reason why I found Dead Space so disappointing. Anybody that's played Project Zero (Fatal Frame) will know what I'm talking about; a game steeped in a ghoulishly delightful dank atmosphere with beautifully paced game play. You won't find scores of monsters trying to bite your head off around every corner like in Dead Space. Instead it uses steady pacing and bottom quivering suspense to deliver an experience that leaves you shaking and slack jawed. Sure, you're plodding around in the same environment for the games entirety, but if anything that only lends credit to how good the game is. The very fact that you can be suspended in the same creepy village throughout the whole game without your eyes rolling out of their sockets with boredom is sheer testimony to the quality of depth on offer. The only drawback to this game is that it has propelled my expectations of survival horror to a level that other games can't reach. It's broken something in my head that can't be fixed. After the nauseatingly frightening experience I can't find games like Dead Space frightening. Hordes of charging, drooling monsters might look cool, but it's not scary and lacks the subtleties of a true horror game.

I think it's going to be a while before Crimson Butterfly gets knocked off my top spot.

Liberty City

I'm playing Grand Theft Auto 4 at the moment and I'm enjoying it, but I'm struggling to grasp why it snapped up the crown of one of Gamespot's top rated titles? Don't get me wrong, I like the game a lot, but I wouldn't say that it's surpassed my open world game playing experiences of the past. The characters are fantastic, and the cinematic snippets are really fun to watch and these in themselves are frequent and strong enough to warrant a heartily good time. And living in the game is also pretty good. I like being called by my degenerate friends, Roman and Brucie, to arrange jobs and nights out- it helps sink me into the skanky world of Liberty City. But I find the game play in itself a little shallow. The missions are incredibly similar and don't offer much excitement; just a bunch of very small errands of similar velocity making for a fairly tame time. But maybe this is the point? A hell of a lot of content, but not a massive amount of excitement. The detail to life is great, but a lot of the missions feel slack- A little half baked- It's a bit like tucking into an all you can eat buffet with food stacked high- enough to give you the love sweats; and then finding out that it all tastes like chicken. I get why people enjoy this game, but for me, I don't know if it really does anything tremendously special.
