Unfortunately, my PS3 (60 GIG launch model) has just suffered from the "yellow light of death"... litterally, like 20 mins ago. The original Sony warranty has surely expired, but I have the extended store warranty that should still be valid. My problem now is that since Sony took this model off the market, my chances of getting a replacement are flushed down the toilet.

Another note is that I had replaced the HDD. Now, I'm obviously unable to even boot up my PS3, let alone delete my old profile before installing it on another new console. Would installing my new HDD into a new console allow me to keep my PSN ID, and store purchases, and freinds list etc?

I'm sure my problem is pretty remote, but if anyone could give me some tips on what to do from here, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks.

Black Monday is to show your support for journalistic integrity, not necessarily a show of support for Jeff.

I'm sure he'll be fine, and will have many offers for a new job at other gaming websites (assuming he still wants to be in the business) because it'll only mean fantastic publicity for his new employer. A lot of former Gamespot members will follow him, and they can claim to bring only honest/unbiased reviews to its subscribers.

What Jeff has done (to stand up for one's morals in the face of corporate pressure) is admirable. He did the right thing. it's too bad this meant the loss of employment, but I'm certain he knew what he was getting into, and made the right decision in the end, regardless.

If you have ever based one of your gaming purchases from a Gamespot review,or if you generally feel that corporate or political influence should not beinvolved in news/review media companies to sway someone's portrayal of a story/product, you may want to consider showing a small act of support.

To each their own, however. Not everyone will be convinced that this problem affects them, and that's fine too. Just remember to always think about what you read/watch, and make your own opinion of it. Don't always "swallow whole" what'sbeing presented to you.

I for one, support the Black Monday initiative, and will participate in my own small way to show support for the cause, and to let Gamespot (CNET, CNN, FOX etc) know that business ethics and corporate social responsibility matter to us.

This list could go on forever, but thats not the point. The point is there are so many great games and none of them are made by or published by EA.

I know what you mean, but there are still a couple of EA games that would be worthwhile.. it'd just be a shame if those couple of games would be scaled down or whatever compared to their other console's releases. We'll just have to wait and see I guess, but EA better not make a habit of this 30fps for PS3 issue. I don't play Madden, but I do enjoy NHL hockey, and looking forward to Army of Two. Get it together EA!

I think I found the source of the quote I put in my previous post..

I have no idea if this is a credible source or not though.. just don't shoot the messenger.

I got this from another gaming msg board.. so it ay not only apply to sports games, but with EA in general. Again, this is just from someone else's post on a msg board, and I don't know where he got this quote, but here it is:

"An EA developer has called in to let us know that he believes the Xbox 360 will triumph over the PS3 due to its better performance and more rounded support. These claims come on the revelation that development of Army of Two on the Xbox 360 manages to yield a maximum of 60fps while the PS3 version struggles to reach 30fps".

I sure hope that's not the case, 'cause I'm really looking forward to Army of Two.

Why does it seem like the end of the world whenever a demo isn't released on PSN? Get a grip, take a walk or bike ride, call that girl you've had your eye on, something..

You could also just as easily burn them onto a CD/DVD off of your PC, and copy them from the disk to the PS3. Since I've got my PC connected to the PS3 througha network, I just boot up the 'ol PC and watch my music videos from there if I want to show them on the TV screen.

I'm trying to conserve my HD space on the PS3 for demos and stuff like that.

Hope this helps you out.

I've just recently (and I mean like 2 days ago) switched from Dvd to Blu-ray. I've had the PS3 since the end of December, but just picked up an HDTV this week. I've got a couple of Blu-rays so far, but if I may make a suggestion: consider picking up "Planet Earth". I never thought I'd be sitting at the edge of my seat for a nature documentary, but I did last night.
