here are my sort of impressions of fallout 3
Fallout 3 has recieved so much hype and was a strong contender for game of the year. After playing for about 4 hours. and yet discovering very little the game has to offer I agree with that hype 100%. The short story behind Fallout 3 is that you have been living in an underground bunker, safe from the post-apocalypse Washington D.C. One day your father leaves the underground vault, and you are forced to leave shortly after because the ruler in the vault does not like escapees. The game opens with a quick progression of life in the vault as there i took an aptitude test (to determine your skills in the game), and beat up a couple of bullies. The game really starts when you first set foot outside of the vault and are thrown into the devastated D.C landscape. So far, I explored a few towns, completed a few minor quests, and discovered a possible location of my father. Along the way I had meaningful conversation with some 50 people, beat to death an angry villager who wanted me to blow up the town, and I took part in some minor combat against a few bands of Raiders. The Raiders were humans, but after I shot at them they ran away after they started the combat. So far the game is very engaging, and full of tons of things to do. I can easily see this being an 100+ hour adventure, and i plan on taking my time with the game.
in my next blog I will talk about the audio and visuals, the combat system, and all of the stats.
Quick early score 9.5/10
