@Poodger: that may be true. i was just pointing out that *I* didn't hear about it directly through that. could be that i did indirectly as you say, though.
@Poodger: I was exclusively a PC gamer from around 92 until i think 2007 or 2008 (except for mobile nintendo consoles). When I bought a PS3, the last console I'd owned before then was an NES. So, I guess I was under the PC rock :P Nowadays I have a PS4 Pro, Switch, and PC hooked up to my TV, so kind of play everything.
@Poodger: I literally never heard of Smash Bros. until a couple years ago, and have played several games in the Fire Emblem series over the years, starting with the GBA games.
Kinda weird that the beginning of this article doesn't mention the 2 Fire Emblem games (2003 & 2004) that were released for the Game Boy Advance in the US/North America, which was my first exposure to the franchise, and which I absolutely loved. I'm assuming I'm not the only American/westerner who was introduced to the series with those games?
