A Story of Gaming, Love and the Future

Sometimes I start to wonder, am I ever going to stop loving video-games? The answer, simply is no. I have to have the newest system with the best games not because it's the fad thing to get, but really because I love games. My first system was the PlayStation back in what '97? Well we had like the original NES and SNES but those were my dads. When that system was unboxed the first thing I started to play was Final Fantasy 7. Yes, I know most of you are saying that's me! Or, ah, what other game would he mention. But the fact of the matter is it was a fantastic game and at my age I was about 9 years old it was the biggest most immersive game I've ever played. It sparked something in me; I realized then that video-games is what I want to do for a living. I'm 20 years old now, and I'm still playing games. Of course since I'm older now in comes the girlfriend, well in my case it's my fiancee (thank you very much). I love her to death but when it comes to me and my games...let's just say she wishes they were never invented. But we've been together for about 1 year now and she has come to the conclusion that it's just what I love to do, and don't get me wrong I have a great job that pays very well so I'm not just at home playing games. But when I do; move over I'll be on there for hours on end. We all seem to have that first time when we played video-games and it just struck our minds and our hearts; yearning for more. My soon-to-be wife has accepted my addiction and actually joins in on some games now, but she still prefers the simple ol' Wii over my PS3 but hey, it's a start right? Maybe one day, I'll have a kid and he'll have that same spark and he'll be talking about how immersed he was when he picked up his first controller.
