Pre-Order Madness

Ok its that time of year to pre-order every game I want to play. I still do not understand why companies all release games near the holidays. Then customers are forced to pick between titles. Well those who cannot afford all the games they want.
I struggle for a few months trying to play all the games I want to play. I am still many months behind. I will never catch up to all the X-Box games I wanted to try.
I have decided I will buy a Nintendo DS or a PSP. Everyone is telling me to go with a PSP. After reading many of the issues PSP's are having I am not so sure. I have played around with both. I think a PSP will break on me just because its delicate. I see it like this. Sure the graphics are better and blah blah, but its not anything different then what I have seen or played. If I want to play a console game I will play one on a console. Having 2 screens (1 is a touch pad) opens a huge door on what types of games I can play. Plus it has a huge library of GBA games as well.
I imagine the PSP has load times, uses allot of power etc. So what if it plays movies. I have a HDTV and sound system at home I will watch a movie there.
Overall both hand helds have there merits. I guess its a matter of choice.

Withdrawl!

So I am basically stuck at work for 24 hours. That means no video games! ARGH!

So I doodled with most of the games I am playing but didn't really get anywhere. I have been thinking allot about X-Box 360. Everyone around me at work is all talking about it and how powerful it is etc. I said I really didn't want one because none of the launch games appealed to me. All I want is Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. I personally think it will be better on PC then X-Box 360. Maybe it will actually push my graphics.

Its not that X-Box 360 is all that special, its just a console with power that prior is unheard of. Its not that PC games can't look like those screen shots and such, its just the PC market doesn't seem to push the hardware. I still have not found a game that pushes the limits of my computer. It actually makes me sad but then again what do you expect. Developers have to make a game that can play on a wide range of PC's not just mine. Where as a console has a set hardware and specs. (for the most part)

For raw power most gamer PC's should crush an X-box. I really would love to see true benchmarks on the X-Box 360. Compared to a PC and stuff. Yes its true the 360 has some power but how does it compare to a avid gamers computer system. The other thing I have been thinking about is do I want to sit in front of a TV or a Monitor. I prefer a mouse and keyboard actually. I got so use to all the options of a keyboard. The ability to customize, use a macro pad, to make user interface so much better then what a controller can offer.

Another thing, whats up with that ugly controller!? Not just the 360 but the PS3. The PS2 is my ideal controller look and feel. Sony needs to cough up the extra money for the dual shock patent (someone else owns the similar technology for it) and make PS3 controllers awesome.

I hope having cool 360 games makes companies port over the good titles to computer. I mean, PC gamers buy certain types of games for PC and always will. Sure Elder Scrolls will be good on the 360 but functionally it will be better on PC. Not to mention community mods and stuff if a toolset is present. Most console games only give me about 8 hours of play. I zoom through them and then I am done. Most PC games that I will buy last a long long time. I even play them over and over.

Console games can be rented. Having Gamefly is such a treat. I can run through all the good titles for the 360 and never have to buy a single game. I almost feel PC gamers need to get together and so such things. How long before someone hacks the poor 360 and pirates games? Or mods the harddrives to download games. Its going to happen. Some techno-uber-geek will figure it out.

Another thing why are they even making a X-Box without a harddrive? So now developers have to account for the fact some 360 owners have no harddrive. Thats lame. Just make one system who cares if it costs allot. Anyone who really wants a 360 has pre-ordered it already. Christmas will get closer and the excitement will be around the 360. Then it will die down until a few really good games come out.

I see the same types of games coming out. FPS, Racing games and a few fighters. Of course sports games. What about cool RPG's? Is Elder Scrolls the only hope? I don't need to cough up $60 per game to play basically X-Box 1 games with graphics updates. Anyway I have allot of research to do. I pretty much know I won't get a 360 at launch. I will wait till the hype is gone.

This weekend 9/9

Well this weekend I plan on wrapping up "God of War" PS2 and "Prince of Persia 2 Warrior Within". Then continue my endless dungeon crawling in "Temple of Elemental Evil" PC.

Besides that I might twiddle around in The Sims 2. I like the Sims 2 its a neat game. Very time consuming though. Not to mention I have to log on Guild Wars and check out the new content. I think I need to clone myself so I can keep up with all these games. November will hit and I am still many games behind. If I decide to get a X-Box 360 how will it be possible for me to play all the X-Box games I missed plus new games on other platforms!?! I am going to go insane. Or more insane.

I totally refuse to miss sleep, work, food for games. I tried that for awhile and its no fun.

As far as "Star Wars Galaxies" I think I will work hard one day to grind out the last pilot profession I have to do. It won't take too long. I am proud of all my cool ships and awesome parts. Not too much longer and I will own the space lanes! Die evil space pirates and filthy rebel pilots!

There simply isn't enough time to play all these games! Least I don't watch TV much. TV is a true time waster. I can read so much faster then what a TV can explain to me. Picture in Picture TV monitor helps too =) Fun to play a game and watch TV at the same time. Now to get a corner desk and the third computer online. A true multimedia room. /drool
