i have a similar problem, my PS3 has decided to stop reading any Blu-Ray discs or it will start one then crash.

after contacting sony they want £182.50 to fix it as it is out of warrentie. Heres the interesting bit its being fixed for free in holland http://n4g.com/ps3/News-263098.aspx how come not in the uk!

the guy on phone has just agreed to fix it for free!!!

anyone out there whos being asked to pay for the repair quote that website!

I like some for you bought a new PS3 on the launch day. It has done nearly 2 years fault free service.........until yesterday.

i get 3 errors

80010514, 80029906, 80029941

i have just phoned sony and the guy said the blu-ray drive has given up and i need to cough up £182.50 to get it fixed.

heres my question:1. would i be able to successfully argue under the sales of goods act that the console was not of satisfactory quality?

2. on the sony website there is a offering of £2.49 a month insurance, am i allowed to take that out then claim on it straight away?

1. Is it guaranteed that the PS3 will have an HMDI port?

2.If i was to buy a HDTV and it had a DVI port what would i need to get good sound. can a DVI port take lesser quality sound?

3. Does a HDTV with a DVI port need HDCP enabled to watch films and play games.
