I just got the psp-3000 and also have the 1000 which now my daughter uses and I have no problems with it so far. I use it 90% of the time for video and audio but have played several games so far and have not had any big problem with the screen except now I can use it in the daytime (love the screen). As far as the microphone I have tested that with Skype and from the ohter end it sounds good and for battery life I can not say for sure but seems about the same as the old one.
