We have no personal experience, but we will believe the masses, whether they are qualified or not. I'm glad Aaron had the balls to rate the game as he saw fit, and I'm sure his scores were reviewed by the others before they were posted. His points are valid; he's actually PLAYED the game. All of you are going to buy the game no matter what, and I'm sure many will buy the game because of the name. For the few sane people left, Aaron provides a nice counterpoint to consider before dropping $60 on a title. This is not some competition. How does PS3 looks "bad" because it has a good game on it? That doesn't really even make sense...

I have played the game. It is by far the best looking game I have ever played.
The gameplay is the tried and tested R&C style.
The weapons are awesome.
The animations are great.
I actually really thought the story was cool and the dialog was well done. I still haven't finished it but I've played for over 8 hours and I can't get my head around the GS review. If I were to rate the game, I'd say 9.5/10.
I love the Ratchet series and have felt like I've been waiting forever to get my hands on it. I luckily got it early and have been glued to it ever since. I've put it down for the night as my hands need a bit of rest. :).
Now, my thoughts on the Ratchet review,
While a review represents one person's opinion of a game, it's that person's responsibility to represent the company that is publishing the review. By publishing this review, GS is standing behind it as truth to what they think about the game.
I feel that it was very irresponsible to let a no-name amateur reviewer rate a game that many were anticipating would be this year's AAA game.
I for one have an opinion that this game is a killer app.
Some may disagree with my opinion of the game, but this is where my opinion and the one published by GS differ. I represent no one but myself. I could post 9.5/10 all over the internet and no one would pay attention.
However, GS has a professional responsibility to share with the consumer an educated non-biased review.
I feel that GS has greatly failed us in that regard. I would have been able to stomach the review if perhaps it was done by a hard-hitter, someone that we can recognize, that is not only familiar with the series but very much into platform games.
Some people say, "well, forget the review, just play the game for yourself and enjoy". I agree for the most part, but also consider the people that compare ratings because they can only afford that one true AAA game that they have been anxiously awaiting.
How many people would feel burned if this site was their only reference and they missed out on a game that would potentially blow their minds? And, what of the developer who has slaved over a game only to have their gamerankings and metacritic score dip under 90because of your fisheye view?
I've tried to express my thoughts as maturely as possible, but as a final remark, GS I'm extremely disappointed in your lack of professionalism. I'm not just talking about the score. I'm talking about the lack of adequate text in the review. Many reviewers focused on a wealth of information where when I was done reading, I didn't even need the score to see what they meant. All I learned from your review was how easy the game was, over, and over and over again. Since when did games get punished for putting too many "things" in them?
GS, this is not good. Would you buy a car reviewed by the editor of Field and Stream?
I doubt this will ever happen, but, could someone more qualified re-do the review?
Well said man. I know how much it sucks to miss an epic game from a biased opinion.. comming back to it 3 years later..
