Civilization III: Conquest

I have been playing a lot of Civilization III: Conquest with a friend of mine lately. Previously I was a bit turned off by turn-based strategy games. I found, that I has incredibly limited in how I could move my units. Now I have come to appreciate it, although I think, I still might prefer real-time strategy games. I think, that turn-based are great for playing against other real-life players, since you are on equal terms, and you can better react to each others moves. And it is also great, you can do something else, while playing, when the other parties make their moves.

Completing series since last time

Well, since the last time I wrote about it, I have completed the following series:

  • Max Headroom
  • Ducktales
  • Invasion
  • Space Above and Beyond
  • Jake 2.0
  • Odyssey 5

Most of the shows on the list are ones, that were cancelled prematurely. It would have been great, if they had continued.

Keeping track, keeping score...

At one point I decided it would be good to note which episodes I have watched of a given tv-series. It is not always easy to follow shows on television, especially if they shown every night at some late hour. Also pause between seasons can be long, so one does not remember all, and might not catch the first episodes, when it starts again.

So by doing this, I have noted, that I have so far finished the following series:
  • Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future
  • Commander in Chief
  • Dark Angel
  • Dilbert
  • Dungeons and Dragons
  • Firefly
  • Game Over
  • Noble House
  • SeaQuest DSV (and 2032)
  • Threshold

Contributions

I've finally made my first contribution in form of corrections to a couple of SeaQuest DSV episodes, whose (title and airdate)s where swapped.
It took a while to get through with some unsuccessful attempts to make it happen, but finally it did.

Here we go again

Things are not looking up. My gaming is still at a critically low level, however I've bought more games, which actually makes things worse.

Suk... (local equivalent of "sigh...")

Oh, what a great way to start your blog. I don't get to play much, because I'm too occupied programmering. Go figure. Hmm... I need to turn this picture around... hmmm... maybe I should develop a game... combining the two.... maybe...

Firefly

I just finished watching Firefly yesterday. Oh, how great fun that was. I hope the movie is going to be good. A lot of storyline lies undiscovered since the show was cancelled so soon. Even though at first I was disgruntled by Firefly, since it made a third season of another great TV-show "Dark Angel" impossible, because the network "had to choose" between two sci-fi shows, it has grown on me after watching it. Firefly was a decent show that should have continued. I had a down-to-earth vision of the future world technologywise.

Movies, movies, movies...

Lately I've been watching a lot of movies. Apparently I have been lucky to win tickets to the cinema or aquire tickets at no cost. Add on top of that borrowing a lot of DVDs from the library, I have been rather busy. I am now getting to an interlude of watching some more TV-shows, so things are looking up ;-)
