I am the owner of a couple of next gen consoles. The Wii and an X360.
I also have a PS2 and even a PS1 which I both play once in a while. At the moment I am playing FFX while I am waiting for my copy of FFXII - which I have waited for, for soooo many years now.
Actually the only games I play on my PlayStation's are actually FF games...

Anyway, the point of this post is my thoughts on old vs new consoles. I find myself playing the X360 a whole lot more than the Wii just for the fact that the graphics are nicer. The only game I have for the Wii is Zelda while a have quite a few titles for the X360.
But why do I want to play my okd Playstation's with their graphics when I don't even want  to play on my Wii. Has the gamplay in todays games just simply been reduced to something which isn't worth playing compared to older games. Is the average quality worse? Of course there are some games which are just brilliant even today, i.e Gears of War which i completed in no tome at all - but still the graphics had a lot to do with that experiance too.
Why is it I sit and play a game like FFVII for hours on end without realizing the time, yet when I play a game which supposedly is brilliant from this year, it just doesn't give me the same thrill.

Game dev's - get back to the roots and work on the gameplay. Not just the graphics!
