At least until it sells its francise games (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc). I think what makes Nintendo more appealing to some people is that Nintendo has, over the years, created a large group of Nintendo- only characters that people will identify the company by. It's something Sony and Microsoft don't really have. I mean, you see Link and you think Nintendo. The same with Mario, Kirby, Samus Aran, Fox, Yoshi, and all the hundreds of characters that Nintendo has created. These franchises bring in loads of $ because you can't find them elsewhere- to play Mario you have to cash Nintendo in someway (GBA, GCN, whatever). So even with Xbox's Halo (a huge seller, duh) they can't compete unless they realize how Nintendo has lasted: by creating memorable, and even silly, faces to identify themselves by.
