Lotta stuff to talk about.

Hey, Gamespot. Lately I havn't been able to sign on frequently, and that is because I have been attending computer camp all week, and tomorrow is my last day. It's actually been rather fun, even though I wasn't all for the idea at first. Initially I knew that I would be making my own game while I was there, but what I didn't know was that there would be that many of my kinds of people there.

I really didn't think the people there would know their stuff that well. If I brought up a topic during the breaks each day of camp, a lot of them would know just how to respond, and would actually know what I was talking about. I don't think the instructors thought we would know much about gaming either. For example, the instructors all made up these stupid little nicknames for themselves, which I found a little corny, but one of them said, "You guys can call me 'Guybrush Threepwood'" and immediately I spouted, "Monkey Island" and some of the instructors looked at me in surprise. That felt really good when the one instructor that would urge me to participate in group outdoor activities looked over at me. (I'm not so keene on outdoor play. At least there wasn't much of it)

On to the whole part of making our own games and eveything. This was certainly the best part of the whole experience. To make our games we used a program called Multimedia Fusion 2, and it was great. Simple to use, great design, and it was just a generally good experience. Thats not to say that explaining it wouldn't take forever, but stil, it worked well. So I'll just get right into what I made for a game. If you guys have been keeping up with me, or have just seen my profile banner, you might know that I very much like the game NiGHTS for the Sega Saturn. I sort of based my game around that, in that your character is able to fly around freely.

The goal of each level is simply to grab the key where ever it may be... And that's about it. Yeah, it's really simple, but quite a challenge, seeing as I made it a five level game, and getting hit a single time in any of those levels will send you back to the beginning of the entire game. The most notable level would have to be a scrolling level in which you must fly away from a flying whale chasing you. There are clouds in your way that you can bump into, and instant kill enemies acattered about. Making it to the portal at the end of the level will send you to the final boss, a dark verison of the character you played as in the game. I blatantly took that idea from Metroid because I have been playing those games a lot lately, and I'm sorry for that Nintendo. Anyway, the twist with my game compared to the other campers games was that every single character was drawn by me, and I didn't use a single sprite that the program provides for you. The instructors were impressed with my character art, and that made me feel good.

Tomorrow is the last day of the camp, and it is no longer for working on games. All of our games were burned onto discs at the end of the day today (thankfully, I finished right at the last second), and tomorrow we will be able to bring them home. What tomorrow is really for though, is to showcase our games to all the parents, which should be cool. Once I get the disc with my game on it, I will hopefully be able to put it on the internet, and you guys can all try it.

I guess I'll just dedicate one paragraph to smaller news. A couple of nights ago, I finally beat Metroid Prime for Gamecube. I have to say that I really didn't enjoy it much, and that the final stretch of the game was super tedious. Although, I have beaten Metroid Zero Mission twice now, and I love it. I plan on never playing Metroid Prime 2, but I do wish to try out 3, and see how it is for a good FPS on Wii.

I guess that's it for now. Please comment, and thanks for reading.
