Its been storming here since Saturday. And these storms are sneaky. They're being awfully "tricksy" too. You see, one moment it can be all bright and sunny and hot (like normal), and then I turn around and it's storming so bad the power goes out! Wtf? We've had it happening, as I said, since Saturday. It happened to us on Sunday night. We (me and the husby) went out to dinner with some friends. I shall refer to them by their WoW names, for privacy sake. Gil, with whom my husband works. In fact, the husby is the guy who got Gil and Cans (Gil's girlfriend) into WoW in the first place. And then Gil's neighbor, Agg, got in on it, too, and started playing WoW with us. So anyway we went to eat dinner with Gil, Cans, and Agg. It was so much fun that we didn't want the night to end yet but felt we should leave the restaurant. So we headed over to Starbucks. Everything was going swell. We hung out, looked around at books, drank some coffee. And then.... the power went out. That is where the nightmare began. We looked out the windows and saw that rain was coming down so hard we could barely see the cars in the parking lot. There was lightning left and right, accompanied by very loud, rumbling thunder. The power flickered on and off a few times and then decided to stay off. And that's when the Starbucks manager decided it was a good idea to kick all of the customers out of the store. That's right. She told us she was very sorry but we all had to leave. After she managed to push us all out the door, ignoring our obvious shock and disgust, she closed the door on us and stayed inside. So there we were, about 20 people just standing outside the Starbucks, huddling as close to the wall as we could get so we didn't get pounded by the rain. We watched the storm. It was pretty exciting, really. We hung out some more and watched the storm and talked about how rude it was for the mean lady to shove us all out into a very bad storm, and keep herself locked inside. And apparently that wasn't good enough for her. Because she called security on us. That's right. After we had been there for about 30 minutes, watching the storm, a security guard (the kind of guy who drives around the parking lot in an SUV not doing much of anything) came up and started telling people to leave. He told us that we could not stay there any longer and that we needed to leave. He said we could sit in our cars if we didn't want to drive in the storm (meanwhile, siren after siren from emergency vehicles sounded in the distance, obviously on heir way to accidents caused by the weather). But the point was that we had to leave, and, of course, there was not one "no loitering" sign anywhere in sight. Heh. Of course, we refused. Eventually, I think he caleld for backup because another secuirty guard showed up. But then they both left and didn't bother us again. And about 10-20 minutes later the rain had let up and the worst of the storm was past, so we went home.
